Across the Pacific: (Re)generative Readings Between Asia and Latin America (NEMLA)

Event date:

05.03.2026-08.03.2026

Abstract submission deadline:

30.09.2025

In line with the theme of the conference, this panel looks at generative and regenerative readings of cultural and artistic productions that draw lines of cross-polination between Asia and Latin America. Considering the long-standing tradition of dialogue, collaboration and, even, competition between the countries and traditions of these two vast geographic spaces, we invite scholars reflecting on: How Latin American literatures have searched in Asian literary practices spaces for renewal and innovation? How artists and writers from Asian countries have assimilated and reinterpreted Latin American cultural products? How do the cultural products and creative practices of the two sides of the Pacific Ocean mirror/distort/reinvent each other? Papers dealing with literature, theatre, cinema, and other cultural productions are welcome.
