    ger: Diese Masterarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der ungarischen Übersetzung Kis csukák von Elfriede Jelineks Roman Die Liebhaberinnen. In der Übersetzung von Dezső Tandori kommt es teilweise zur Überzeichnung der Jelinekschen Romanfiguren. Dementsprechend wurde die zentrale Frage behandelt, worin genau sich die ungarische Übersetzung hinsichtlich der Darstellung der Romanfiguren vom Original unterscheidet bzw. wie mit Jelineks diesbezüglichem Spiel mit der Sprache – der kalten und zynischen Darstellung der Romanfiguren – in der Übersetzung umgegangen wird. Es wurde vermutet, dass der Übersetzer Jelineks Schreibstil und -technik ergänzt – u.a. Hinzufügen von Adjektiven, Wortspielen –, die Figuren dadurch mit zusätzlichen Eigenschaften ausstattet und damit die gesellschaftskritischen Aussagen der Autorin tendenziell verstärkt. Außerdem wurde vermutet, dass der Übersetzer durch seine Vorgehensweise zur positiven Rezeption des Romans in Ungarn beigetragen hat. Um dies zu überprüfen, wurden erst Elfriede Jelinek und ihr Werk vorgestellt. Danach wurden die gesellschaftskritischen Komponenten des Romans Die Liebhaberinnen sowie die literarischen Strategien, mithilfe derer die Autorin Gesellschaftskritik ausübt, erläutert, um überprüfen zu können, ob und wie diese in der ungarischen Übersetzung zum Ausdruck kamen. Anhand des Analysemodells der tendances déformantes von Antoine Berman konnte festgestellt werden, dass die literarische Vorgehensweise Jelineks zur Darlegung der Gesellschaftskritik in der Übersetzung stärker ausgeprägt ist. Tandori schnitt Jelineks Roman auf sein eigenes sprachliches und schriftstellerisches Talent zu und vermittelte ihre gesellschaftskritischen Aspekte in seinem eigenen Stil. Die Analyse der Peritexte bzw. Epitexte hat die zweite Hypothese insofern bestätigt, als dass anhand der Rezensionen festgestellt werden konnte, dass die übersetzerische Vorgehensweise Tandoris in vielen Rezensionen gelobt und die Übersetzung in sprachlicher Hinsicht dem Originalwerk gleichgestellt wurde und somit die Rezeption des Romans in Ungarn durchwegs positiv ausfiel. eng: This master's thesis deals with the Hungarian translation “Kis csukák” of Elfriede Jelinek's novel “Die Liebhaberinnen”. In the translation by Dezső Tandori, some of the characters in Jelinek's novel are depicted in an exaggerated way. Therefore, the central question of this thesis was how exactly the Hungarian translation differs from the original in terms of the representation of the characters in the novel. More specifically it is the aim to show how Jelinek's game with language – including the cold and cynical presentation of the characters in the novel – is dealt with in the translation. Consequently, it has been claimed that the translator complements Jelinek's writing style and technique by adding adjectives, word plays etc., thereby equipping the characters with additional features and additionally reinforcing the author’s socially critical statements. It was also assumed that the translator's translation strategies contributed to the positive reception of the novel in Hungary. To substantiate these hypotheses, in a first stage Elfriede Jelinek and her work were presented. Then, both the socially critical components of the novel “Die Liebhaberinnen” and the literary strategies with the help of which the author expresses her social criticism were illustrated in order to be able to verify whether and in which way these aspects were expressed in the Hungarian translation. On the basis of Antoine Berman's model of the “tendances déformantes”, it could be proven that Jelinek's literary procedures in expressing social criticism appears more pronounced in the translation. Tandori tailored Jelinek's novel to his own linguistic and literary talent and conveyed the socially critical aspects of the author’s work in his own style. The analysis of the peritexts and epitexts confirmed the second hypothesis insofar as the reviews showed that Tandori's translation method was highly praised in many reviews. The translation was equated with the original work in terms of Jelinek’s specific language use, and therefore the novel’s reception in Hungary was consistently positive.

    The government has an important role to play in financing each stage of development of startups. Most of the financing for startups is provided by non-reimbursable public grants and lending, the latter supported by government guarantees. The role of venture capital is much smaller. However, the government can also help with this, notably by co-invest with private investors and leverage the capital of private venture capital funds. An important tool to promote the recapitalization of venture capital funds is the government guarantee available to private investors in the funds. The most effective way for the government to finance startups is not by providing funds directly to companies, but by acting as a catalyst for funding by encouraging private players in the market. The analysis below shows which of the internationally developed solutions for government support have spread and with what success.

    In this study, we use two representative surveysto investigate how competition and cooperation relate on the individual level and whether (and how) they associate with educational attainment. Our first result is that the correlation between competition and cooperation is positive and significant, even if we take into account the respondent’s age, gender, settlement type and region of residency. We also find that competition and cooperation relate in a nonlinear way to educational attainment. Higher levels of competition and cooperation associate with more years in school, but at a decreasing rate. Moreover, too high levels of competition and cooperation correlate with lower levels of educational attainment.

    We use the Labor Force Survey and the monthly Revenue Statistics of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office to investigate the short term economic impacts of the CoVid pandemic during its 1st wave. The microdata allow us to investigate the economic crisis beyond the aggregate statistics. The downturn was harsher than during crisis in 2008-09 and the inequality has also increased. College graduates suffered less than the average: they lost their job with a lower probability, they were more likely to switch to home office and their firms suffered lower revenue drop. The revenue of foreign owned, exporting firms dropped more in March but their revenue tuned back to the pre-crisis level in Summer. As opposed to this, domestic firms suffered a slower but more permanent decline.

    This paper investigates the role of cognitive skills in the return to higher education (HE) in Hungary. It makes use of linked Hungarian administrative data, which contains labor market and educational information of about 50 percent of the Hungarian population, for the period of 2003 and 2017 (Sebők 2019). The estimates are focused on the early carrier path of HE graduates who completed their National Assessment of Basic Competencies 10th class tests in 2008. The paper uses Mincertype regression modells with the test scores as the the proxy variables of cognitive skills.

    Significant cross-country differences in real income levels are accompanied by sizable differences in price levels, and, in the longer run, convergence in real income levels goes together with convergence in price levels. Although the cross-country comparison of nominal per capita GDP levels at current exchange rates is neither suitable to measure real income differences, nor their changes over time, their decomposition into a “real” and price component can reveal the contribution of the two factors to “nominal convergence”. The decomposition may be performed by drawing on two statistical sources, providing conflicting indications with respect to relative price and real changes in the case of several member states of the European Union. However, both statistics suggest that the rapid “nominal convergence” of the Central and East European member-states between 1995 and 2008 mainly stemmed from the swift convergence in price levels (real exchange rate appreciation), while the deadlock in nominal convergence after 2009 is mainly due to the halt (reversal) in price convergence. Real economic convergence of the CEEU-region continued in the 2010s, albeit at a slower pace.
