Sologub hat zwar die literarische Bewegung des Symbolismus in Rußland entscheidend geprägt, er ist aber kaum in eine der verschiedenen Gruppen und Richtungen einzuordnen. Er ist wohl der vielseitigste unter den Schriftstellern der russischen Moderne... Das ist der Anlaß, mit Texten, Aufsätzen und einer Bibliographie des hundertsten Jahrestages der ersten Veröffentlichung eines Werkes von Fedor (...) Sologub zu gedenken.     This study is an unorthodox approach to the origin, historicity, and authorship of the anonymous Icelandic sagas. Following the publication of her translation of the "Laxdœla Saga", in this volume Madelung uses her deep knowledge of the text to demonstrate the literary quality and aesthetic structure of the work, especially the function of repetition. She shows that the Saga contains a historical-political analogy between the period in which the story is set (the eleventh century) and the saga-author’s own time two centuries later. The apparently straightforward prose is camouflage, and the symbolism provides the key to the hidden analogy.

Wittenweiler's narrator presents himself at times as the omniscient and methodical teller of his tale, an authoritative teacher in command both of his material and his audience, and at other points as a playful master who feigns ignorance, appears to mock his own versifying, and challenges the reader to become vigilant to an extraordinary degree and to recognize that he must judge independently what to accept as Wittenweiler's teachings. Cross's investigation leads her to propound new answers to a number of questions that have long perplexed Wittenweiler scholars.     Neben der Zeitschrift Wiener Slawistischer Almanach erscheinen seit 1980 auch 2-3 Mal jährlich Sonderbände (seither 94 Ausgaben) mit literaturwissenschaftlichem oder linguistischem Schwerpunkt. Die literarische Reihe umfasst Monographien oder Tagungsbeiträge aus allen Bereichen der aktuellen slavischen Literaturwissenschaft und weit darüber hinaus (Medientheorie, Kulturwissenschaft, Literaturkritik).

    Die Beiträge oder Monographien erscheinen in der Regel in deutscher, russischer oder endlischer Sprache. Publikationsvorschläge an aage.hansen-loeve@lrz.uni.-muenchen.de

    n 1975 a group of Leningrad poets sought official permission to hold a memorial meeting commemorating the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of Nikolaj Stepanovič Gumilev (1886 -1921) the following year, as well as issuing a collection of their poetry. On April 16. 1976 the poet Oleg Oxapkin and the historian Vladimir Poreš initiated the first memorial meeting devoted to the founder of Acmeism. Since that time there have been three additional "unofficial conferences" held (1978, 1979 and 1980). At these yearly private meetings, literary historians, poets and poetry lovers converge and pay homage to Gumilev. The section containing material relating to Gumilev in this volume is significant and illuminating.
