What if every neuron in the human brain could be mapped and decoded? Every act of human behaviour catalogued and wholly understood? 'Elegy' imagines a very-near future in which radical and unprecedented advances in medical science mean that it's possible to augment and extend life. Through the beautiful and moving story of three women who've made the choice between love and survival, 'Elegy' explores a world in which the brain is no longer a mystery to us. But at what cost?

4th March, 1865: On the night of his second inauguration, a few weeks before his assassination, Abraham Lincoln meets the veteran black abolitionist Frederick Douglass in the White House to discuss the prospect of extending the vote to black men who have served in the soon to be victorious Union armies. 4th March, 1965: In the White House, Lyndon Johnson, anxious to introduce a new Voting Rights Act, is briefed by his sinister and 'unfirable' FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover, on the imminent Selma to Montgomery march, led by Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a demonstration prompted by a state trooper's murder of the young activist Jimmie Lee Jackson, in Marion, Alabama, following a rally in support of voter registration in Perry County. In this play, Christopher Hampton traces a line which runs from the last days of a brutal Civil War all the way to the present day.

In a large country house in Derbyshire in April 1809 sits Lady Thomasina Coverly, aged 13, and her tutor, Septimus Hodge. Through the window may be seen some of the '500 acres inclusive of lake' where Capability Brown's idealized landscape is about to give way to the 'picturesque' Gothic style: 'everything but vampires', as the garden historian Hannah Jarvis remarks to Bernard Nightingale when they stand in the same room 180 years later. Bernard has arrived to uncover the scandal which is said to have taken place when Lord Byron stayed at Sidley Park. 'Arcadia' takes us back and forth between the centuries and explores the nature of truth and time.

On a spring morning in London, eight women, young and old, speak for the continuity of everyday life. Over five choruses, these ordinary inhabitants of the city reveal a world that has an intensity and depth of emotion that make it transcendent and universal. A witty and ironic portrait, 'As Good a Time As Any' premiered at the Print Room, London, in April 2015.

This is London in the 1690s, the monster city tamed into awe by our only Orpheus: Henry Purcell. Monarchs, princes, prostitutes, wigmakers, composers, tapsters, musicians, transvestites and watermen jostle for attention in the teeming, unruly world of late seventeenth-century London, where enthralling stories both real and imagined merge and intersect. Samuel Adamson's 'Gabriel' premiered at Shakespeare's Globe, London, in July 2013 with Alison Balsom, one of the world's finest trumpeters, performing the music of Purcell and Handel.

When an invitation to The Ball arrives at the Ash girl's house, from Prince Amir, she can't bring herself to believe that she, like her sisters, can go. With her mother dead and her father away, she must learn to fight the monsters that have slithered and insinuated their way into her heart and mind. In this wondrous drama Timberlake Wertenbaker explores the beauty and terror inherent in growing up.

Six London friends, whose lives and work are overshadowed by a demanding film producer, flee the country for a weekend to escape his clutches. Safely ensconced in a hotel in Amsterdam, the uneasy equilibrium that has existed between them, is joyously exposed as the alcohol starts to flow. John Osborne's funny and moving account of friendship won the Evening Standard Best Play of the Year Award in 1968. The play is revived by the Donmar, London, in September 2003.

Imagine a world where the Stephen Lawrence Case and the Hillsborough Disaster never made it to court. Since 2012 the government has made sweeping cuts to the provision of legal aid. In this new reality, in cases from civil law to immigration, the voices of those seeking justice are in danger of never being heard. 'The Invisible' tells the stories of ordinary people whose access to legal aid has been denied, examining how the cuts are driving ever deeper cracks into the fabric of our society.

Nobody can doubt John Christie's passion or his formidable will: his wooing of his opera singer wife has been marked by a determination befitting a man who won the Military Cross at the Battle of Loos. Now, in 1934, this Etonian science teacher's admiration for the works of Wagner has led him to embark on an ambitious project: the construction of an Opera House on his estate in Sussex. But such is the scale of the enterprise that passion may not be enough. It's only when fog descends on Eastbourne, stranding a famous violinist overnight, that Christie hears word of a group of refugees for whom life in Germany is becoming impossible. Perhaps they can deliver Christie's vision of the sublime - assuming they're willing to cast his wife in the lead.

A high-ranking government minister with a colourful past is sent on a diplomatic mission to Istanbul. When his trip ends up in a bar-room brawl, he becomes Europe's most wanted man overnight. Chased by the authorities, damned by religious leaders, pursued by those looking for vengeance and head-hunted by fanatics, his odyssey begins. Plunged into the ancient past, Odysseus must now contend with all the unworldly beings and unnatural phenomena that stand in his way. The Cyclops, the Sirens, witches, whirlpools and flesh-eating armies must all be overcome in the struggle for survival and the long voyage back home.

'Fatherland' confronts contemporary fatherhood in all its complexities and contradictions. Daring in its compounding of words, music, and movement, it is a vivid, urgent and deeply personal portrait of 21st-century England at the crossroads of past, present, and future. Inspired by conversations with fathers and sons from the writers' home towns in the heart of the country, the play explores identity, nationality, masculinity and what it means to belong in a world weighed down by the expectations of others.

When Helen Daniels from Neighbours died, Robert shut his door on the world. And he's not opened it since. Now his only connection to the outside world is through his younger sister Isla, who looks after them both whilst their father is away in Ibiza on 'business'. With only a strange menagerie of creatures to keep them company, each day looks pretty much the same as the last - until their quiet lives are interrupted by a visit from Jessica, a benefit assessor, determined to prove that Robert is fit for work. But Jessica soon realises that one size certainly does not fit all, as she suddenly stumbles across a secret about Robert that catapults her head first into a universe of infinite possibilities. Merging biting social commentary and fantasy in unexpected ways, How to Disappear is a pitch-black comedy which gives a voice to those who often go unheard.

Labour MP David Lyons cares about modernisation and 'electability' - his constituency agent, Jean Whittaker cares about principles and her community. Set away from the Westminster bubble in the party's traditional northern heartlands, this is a clash of philosophy, culture and class against the backdrop of the Labour Party over 25 years, as it moves from Kinnock through Blair into Corbyn - and beyond?
