    L'objet de cette thèse est le projet d'écriture du corps tel qu'il s'esquisse dans le livre Corpus de Jean-Luc Nancy, qui affirme la nécessité d'une résistance aux tendances, inscrites au sein de la culture occidentale, à intérioriser et, par conséquent, à effacer ce qui, du corps, est son extériorité, c'est-à-dire la matérialité et la fragmentarité mêmes de l'existence, ainsi que l'impossibilité de son assujettissement à un sens existentiel totalisant. Etant donné que Nancy entrevoit ladite tendance tant dans la discursivité philosophique que dans la narrativité littéraire occidentales auxquelles il reproche de transformer systématiquement les corps en signes ou incarnations de principes spirituels, il envisage une écriture du corps qui irait au-delà des deux modes d'articulation en les fragmentant et les privant de toute linéarité et de toute unité. Or, comme Corpus se veut uniquement projet d'une nouvelle écriture encore à réaliser, la présente thèse aborde non seulement les implications philosophiques de l'ouvrage (notamment les influences derridienne, barthienne, heideggérienne), mais aussi son potentiel (anti)littéraire tel qu'il se laisse penser à partir du projet qu'est le livre réalisé intitulé Corpus The subject of the thesis is the project of the writing of the body as outlined in Jean-Luc Nancy's book Corpus. Nancy affirms the necessity of resistance against the tendencies inscribed within the Occidental culture to interiorize and, hence, to erase the exteriority of the body, i.e. the very materiality and fragmentarity of existence as well as the impossibility of its subjection to a totalizing existential meaning. Since Nancy identifies the mentioned tendency both in the philosophical discourses and the literary narratives of the Occident, reproaching them with the systematic transformation of bodies into signs or incarnations of some spiritual principles, he envisages a writing of the body that would go beyond both modes of articulation by fragmenting them and depriving them of all linearity and unity. Now, Corpus sees itself uniquely as a project of a new writing jet to be realized. Therefore, the present thesis discusses not only the philosophical implications of this work (especially the influences of Derrida, Barthes, Heidegger), but also its (anti)literary potential as it can be thought in light of the project that is the realized book called Corpus

    "De la phrase au texte et à l'oeuvre, la forme brève représente, dans son principe même d'écriture, une visée de densité et une puissance singulière de sens, en deçà des divers genres qu'elle peut investir et de ses modalités historiques - brevitas antique, idéal classique de plénitude et d'universalité, goût romantique pour le fragment, esthétique contemporaine de la rupture et de l'éclatement. Quelle force propre la brièveté renferme-t-elle, par quoi s'impose-t-elle, quel genre d'adhésion suscite-t-elle? Ses pouvoirs présentent un large spectre, de la séduction exercée par la piquante ingéniosité d'une épigramme ou l''obscure clarté' d'un aphorisme, jusqu'aux injonctions du slogan et de la 'parole autoritaire'. Si la brièveté représente parfois le moyen d'avoir le dernier mot ou d'imposer le silence, de dominer l'autre par une formule lapidaire et par la clôture du sens, elle donne aussi beaucoup à entendre et à penser, elle stimule souvent la réflexion et l'interprétation. Telles sont les questions étudiées ici à travers vingt et une contributions littéraires, qui portent sur des domaines variés : les modèles latins (épigrammes de Catulle et Martial, sentences de Sénèque, 'Distiques de Caton'), la maxime classique comme énoncé de vérité (La Rochefoucauld) avec ses réécritures ludiques (Lemaitre et Bénabou); le rôle de l'emblème dans l'Espagne du Siècle d'Or, notamment dans l'esthétique des Vanités, sa fonction aussi dans le savoir médical au XVIIe siècle ; les 'remarques' incisives de Nodier sur les dictionnaires, les préceptes de concision dans l'enseignement rhétorique au XIXe siècle, les aspects du bref dans l'oeuvre de Claudel, le court et le long dans l'échange épistolaire (avec le cas de C.     L'objet de cette thèse est le projet d'écriture du corps tel qu'il s'esquisse dans le livre Corpus de Jean-Luc Nancy, qui affirme la nécessité d'une résistance aux tendances, inscrites au sein de la culture occidentale, à intérioriser et, par conséquent, à effacer ce qui, du corps, est son extériorité, c'est-à-dire la matérialité et la fragmentarité mêmes de l'existence, ainsi que l'impossibilité de son assujettissement à un sens existentiel totalisant. Etant donné que Nancy entrevoit ladite tendance tant dans la discursivité philosophique que dans la narrativité littéraire occidentales auxquelles il reproche de transformer systématiquement les corps en signes ou incarnations de principes spirituels, il envisage une écriture du corps qui irait au-delà des deux modes d'articulation en les fragmentant et les privant de toute linéarité et de toute unité. Or, comme Corpus se veut uniquement projet d'une nouvelle écriture encore à réaliser, la présente thèse aborde non seulement les implications philosophiques de l'ouvrage (notamment les influences derridienne, barthienne, heideggérienne), mais aussi son potentiel (anti)littéraire tel qu'il se laisse penser à partir du projet qu'est le livre réalisé intitulé Corpus The subject of the thesis is the project of the writing of the body as outlined in Jean-Luc Nancy's book Corpus. Nancy affirms the necessity of resistance against the tendencies inscribed within the Occidental culture to interiorize and, hence, to erase the exteriority of the body, i.e. the very materiality and fragmentarity of existence as well as the impossibility of its subjection to a totalizing existential meaning. Since Nancy identifies the mentioned tendency both in the philosophical discourses and the literary narratives of the Occident, reproaching them with the systematic transformation of bodies into signs or incarnations of some spiritual principles, he envisages a writing of the body that would go beyond both modes of articulation by fragmenting them and depriving them of all linearity and unity. Now, Corpus sees itself uniquely as a project of a new writing jet to be realized. Therefore, the present thesis discusses not only the philosophical implications of this work (especially the influences of Derrida, Barthes, Heidegger), but also its (anti)literary potential as it can be thought in light of the project that is the realized book called Corpus

    Explores the interaction between science, literature and spectacle in Shakespeare’s eraTo the readers who ask themselves: ‘What is science?’, this volume provides an answer from an early modern perspective, whereby science included such various intellectual pursuits as history, poetry, occultism and philosophy. By exploring particular aspects of Shakespearean drama, this collection illustrates how literature and science were inextricably linked in the early modern period. In order to bridge the gap between Renaissance literature and early modern science, the essays collected here focus on a complex intellectual territory situated at the point of juncture between humanism, natural magic and craftsmanship.
