eng: The dissertation is a study of Heimito von Doderer's concept of history. It describes Doderer's changing historical views by contrasting statements of his dissertation, essays and diary entries on history and historiography with the poetics of his literary works. It uses a model of narrativity theorized by Hayden White and Paul Ricoeur. The two main literary methods evolved are a typology of narrative structures and a typology of tropes. With the help of these typologies it raises questions about such fundamental aesthetic categories of narratives as totality and coherence. Doderer's poetics of history, this is the argument of the dissertation, is not based on the allegedly realistic poetics of his novels, but on his use/and misuse/of certain traditional forms of narrative. In fact, it is this deflection that can be interpreted as a textual model of historical distance. Starting with an analyses of 'Das letzte Abenteuer' the dissertation focuses on a series of motives as adventure, hero, dragon witch/lady and it moves on to an analyses of contradicting historical concepts in 'Die Daemonen'.
