    Main description: Werke der Weltliteratur und ihre Autoren verbinden sich im kulturellen Bewusstsein miteinander. Auch bieten sie neben der globalen jeder einzelnen Zivilisationsregion eigene Identifikationsbereiche an. Montesquieu repräsentiert dabei Werte, die sich als modern, als rational lesbar und in der politischen und der literarischen Praxis als demokratisch und erfolgreich erwiesen haben. Seine Texte basieren auf Traditions- und Glaubenswerten des europäischen Abendlandes und stellen sie zugleich in progressiv-optimierender Weise in Frage.Montesquieus Art der Auseinandersetzung steht unausgesprochen im Kontext aktueller Diskussionen der unterschiedlichen Disziplinen. Daraus ergab sich der interdisziplinäre Aufbau des Kongresses, der leider wichtige - teils sogar grundsätzliche - Aspekte wie Philosophie und Kriegswissenschaft nicht berücksichtigen konnte.Es wurde deutlich, dass die Aktualität Montesquieus weit über seinen Beitrag zum Funktionskomplex der checks and balances durch Gewaltenverteilung in erfolgreichen Staatsformen hinausgeht, dass sein synthetisches Interpretieren für das globale Erkennen komplexer Sachverhalte ein anregendes Vorbild darstellt und dass seine Beschreibung weiblichen Verhaltens und Entscheidens weniger fiktionalen Reduktionen als realen Lebensverhältnissen entsprang.250 Jahre nach dem Tod Montesquieus haben wir uns das Ziel gesetzt, aus unterschiedlichen disziplinären Perspektiven heraus neue Interpretationen und Forschungsergebnisse zu diskutieren, um die Spannung zwischen Entstehung, Rezeption und heutiger Auseinandersetzung mit den Ideen und dem Werk Montesquieus sichtbar zu machen und auf neue Lektüremöglichkeiten hinzuweisen.

    Der vorliegende Sammelband untersucht das Konzept der Intermedialität vor dem Hintergrund der zunehmenden Beschleunigung und Überkreuzung medialer Praktiken in der zeitgenössischen Gesellschaft, angesichts derer sich die Frage nach einer Revision des Theorems der Intermedialität stellt. Die Beiträge konzentrieren sich auf Schlüsselmomente historischer Medienumbrüche im 19., 20. und 21. Jahrhundert und analysieren den Zusammenhang zwischen der (R)Evolution medialer Dispositive und Wahrnehmungsformen sowie der kulturellen Praxis.
    Le présent ouvrage collectif vise à analyser le concept de l’intermédialité dans le cadre de l’accélération croissante et du croisement des pratiques médiatiques dans la société contemporaine, au regard desquels se pose la question d’une révision du théorème de l’intermédialité. Les contributions se concentrent sur des moments-clés des mutations historiques au 19<UP>e</UP>, 20<UP>e</UP> et 21<UP>e</UP> siècle et font l’analyse du rapport entre l’évolution/la révolution des dispositifs médiatiques et les formes de perception ainsi que les codes culturels.

The performance of images, which this book undertakes exploration, is to be understood first of all as the evaluation of their effectiveness: what are the effects of images? It is then their agency: in what way are images living beings? It is also their performativity: as there are acts of speech, there are acts of image whose modalities can be detailed. Finally, it is their power: what can an image, including a text, for example, be incapable?

    Christian image holds a special place here because, far from being a simple "Bible of illiterate "subject to the reign of the text, it permeates all aspects of the life and thought of Christian societies, from their theological and anthropological foundations - God created man in his image; the Son is the image of the Father - up to the most diverse uses of visual objects. But in the West it is not only in the Middle Ages that the images are active: this book is also devoted to the new forms of visual performances that appeared with the Renaissance or the mass-media society. L’image, avant de représenter, de signifier, agit et fait agir. La performance des images, dont ce livre entreprend l’exploration, est à comprendre d’abord comme l’évaluation de leur efficacité : quels sont les effets des images ? C’est ensuite leur agentivité : en quelle manière les images sont-elles des êtres vivants ? C’est aussi leur performativité : comme il y a des actes de parole, il y a des actes d’image dont les modalités peuvent être détaillées. Enfin, c’est leur puissance : que peut une image, dont un texte, par exemple, serait incapable ?

    L’image chrétienne tient ici une place à part car, loin d’être une simple « Bible des illettrés » soumise au règne du texte, elle imprègne tous les aspects de la vie et de la pensée des sociétés chrétiennes, depuis leurs fondements théologiques et anthropologiques – Dieu créa l’homme à son image ; le Fils est l’image du Père – jusqu’aux utilisations les plus diverses des objets visuels. Mais en Occident ce n’est pas seulement au Moyen Âge que les images sont actives : ce livre est aussi consacré aux nouvelles formes de performances visuelles qui sont apparues avec la Renaissance ou la société mass-médiatique.

It shows what De Francesco himself affirms at a point in the last text of the book: that an artist can also be a theorist, and that artistic practice and theoretical practice are difficult to distinguish in his work. This book is multilingual: each text was left in the language in which it was written. Therefore, it is predominantly in French, but Italian, English and German are also represented. In spite of poetry being at the center of Alessandro De Francesco’s interests as a thinker, the texts contained in this book are very heterogeneous: poetic statements, essays, scientific articles, lectures, interviews; and yet they also show a deep continuity. Continuum stands for the author’s uninterrupted commitment for poetry, for the numerous connections among the approached themes, and especially for the innovatory theoretical and political positions expressed here, from which all these writings originated.

Ces vingt-deux articles tracent ensemble une histoire croisée des médiations matérielles et immatérielles, dynamiques et complexes, ayant permis la construction des identités culturelles dans trois domaines principaux : les représentations et l’imaginaire ; la médiation et les vecteurs de transmission ; la traduction, la réception et la circulation des oeuvres. De olika artiklarna bygger på den forskning som presenterades på den internationella konferensen ”Frankrike-Sverige – Tur och retur” i Stockholm i januari 2014. Konferensen organiserades av Sorbonne-universitetet i Paris och Stockholms universitet. Il se sert de la sémiologie de l’image, de la poétique et des théories post-coloniales pour définir les enjeux théoriques, idéologiques et sémantiques régissant le passage des textes littéraires au cinéma. Il identifie des paramètres importants dans la poétique de l’écriture et montre le rôle de l’acte créateur dans l’altérité du texte dérivé, filmique, par rapport au texte de départ, littéraire. De ce fait, il formule des propositions novatrices par rapport aux interrogations purement spéculatives, thématiques ou idéologiques sur « l’adaptation », acte de recréation et de réécriture dont les mécanismes dépassent le seul cadre des cinémas africains.

    The only document we have by a 13th-century architect, the Album of Villard de Honnecourt has been the subject of writings by art and architectural historians since the 19th century and has been considered the work of an amateur since the 1970s. Jean Wirth sheds new light on the question, based on a philological study of the manuscript, and proves that Villard himself is the author of the technical drawings relating to construction. He goes on to provide convincing analyses of the art of drawing and its numerous applications, from drawing from nature to architectural plans. Drawings relating to engineering, geometry and stereotomy are treated individually, in order to convey as clearly as possible the technical processes they illustrate. An examination of the architect’s travels, the monuments he saw and his stylistic evolution allows for an accurate, corrected chronology of this work, previously considered outdated. This intelligent and detailed study will be a landmark in the rehabilitation of Villard de Honnecourt’s reputation. L'Album de Villard de Honnecourt est le seul document personnel que nous ait laissé un architecte du XIIIe siècle. Connu et exploité par les historiens de l'art et de l'architecture dès le XIXe siècle, il a été considéré comme l'œuvre d'un amateur depuis les années 1970. Jean Wirth reprend le problème à partir de l'étude philologique des écritures contenues dans le manuscrit et montre qu'il faut attribuer à Villard les pages dont les dessins techniques relatifs à la construction passaient pour l'œuvre d'un continuateur. Dans une série de chapitres alertes, il analyse ensuite l'art du dessin et son adaptation à la multiplicité des tâches, du dessin d'après nature au relevé architectural. Les dessins relatifs à l'ingénierie, à la géométrie et à la stéréotomie sont traités un à un, afin de clarifier autant que possible les procédés techniques qu'ils transmettent. L’examen des déplacements de l’architecte, des monuments qu'il a vus et de son évolution stylistique mène ensuite à une rectification de la chronologie de son œuvre qu'on croyait retardataire. Cette étude s’affirme avec intelligence et précision comme une réhabilitation de Villard de Honnecourt ; elle fera date.

These questions are the starting point of the present issue which brings together different comparative studies from the vantage points of: methodological and epistemological reflection about (in)comparability and difference; transversal phenomena of acculturation, networks and intercultural dialogues; the hybridity of (natural and conceptual) languages, translation and transposition. In this way, the studies presented in this volume hope to foster discussions about the foundation, the history, the limits and the methods of comparatives studies today. Quels renouvellements méthodologiques récents occupent la littérature comparée? Quels paradigmes critiques mobili­sent les pratiques de recherche comparatistes aujourd’hui?
