Collection of five (Kashmiri, Maithili, Bengali, South Indian and Devanagari) stage scripts of Śākuntalā, classical Sanskrit play by Kālidāsa and its comparision अभिज्ञानशकुन्तला नाटकस्य पञ्चरङ्गावृत्तयः ।। i. e. Texts of complete seven acts of each Five Recensions, namely- The Kashmiri, The Maithili, The Bengali, The Dakshinatya and the ( shorter text of ) Deva Nagari recension. Plus seven acts of the Re-constructed text of this drama. Here there is a detailed comparative study of all available variants of all recensions of this drama. Editor has identified some remarkable interpolatioSo, the editor is of the opinion that all these five (so-called) recensions are "STAGE VERSIONS" of different regions of ancient India.
