    Im vorliegenden Artikel wird eine Vorgehensweise zur Analyse der Zielgruppe, die als Grundlage zur Auswahl eines neuen DaF-Lehrwerks dient, beschrieben und begründet. Er ist im Bereich der Lehrwerkkritik und innerhalb dieser der Ziegruppeneignungsstudie zu verorten. Diese Analyse wird in drei Schritten vollzogen, zunächst wird die institutionelle Ebene betrachtet, dann die Lernerebene und schließlich die Ebene der Lehrkräfte. Die Analyse wird am Beispiel des Alexander von Humboldt Instituts Medellin illustriert. Ziel des Artikels ist es, ein detailliertes und erweitertes Analyseraster zur Zielgruppenanalyse zu präsentieren, das andere Institutionen für ihre Zwecke nutzen und adaptieren können. This article describes and explains a procedure for analyzing the target audience that will be used as the basis for selecting a new DaF textbook. It is to be located in the area of textbook critique and within this the study group suitability study. This analysis is done in three steps, first considering the institutional level, then the learner level and finally the teacher level. The analysis is illustrated using the example of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute Medellin. The aim of the article is to present a detailed and extended analytic grid for target group analysis that other institutions can use and adapt for their own purposes.

    Our analysis of Joachim Wittstock‘s narrative entitled Hades and published thirteen years after the fall of the communist regime in Romania aims at pointing out the intimate connection between socio-political reality and personal experience refl ected by the creative process of turning reality into fi ction by writing. We consider the chosen narrative both as a political and literary statement, refl ecting much of the way of life in Romania during the late 1980s. The narrative may be considered as some kind of withheld fi ction and a pertinent comment of the author as to the role of fi ction in a totalitarian regime.

    The writer Emil Witting (1880-1952), known by German readers through the descriptions of the forests and pastures of the Carpathian Mountains, author of extensive relations dedicated to the bear (Frate Nicolae) and to deer (Scrimerul), conceives a novel dedicated to a painter connected to the Szekler’s world. Imre Nagy (1893-1976) served as a model for the main character. From this unfinished writing, three fragments were published. These have recently been translated into Hungarian, printed in Miercurea Ciuc in an illustrated edition containing Imre Nagy’s paintings and graphic works.

    Herta Müller’s leaning towards word for word transfer of Romanian set phrases in her texts can be explained by the environment in which she lived until her emigration to West Germany and this admittedly intensifies with the gradually increasing general interest in multi-lingualism. The fact that the authoress speaks of the German-Romanian transfer in her acceptance speech on the occasion of the Nobel Prize award proves the important role, which Hertha Müller ascribes to this procedure. Also at the centre of the latest books by Balthasar Waitz stands the multicultural region of the Banat. The author seems to be gripped by the plurilingualism of the immediate surroundings of his homeland. Different forms of Romanian, from slang to everyday speech, but occasionally also Hungarian, Slovak and Serbian phrases find their way into the texts of the Banat author. In this manner just as with Hertha Müller, language images come into being, new light. Thus literary multilingualism in both writers enables one to have a novel access to the relation between literature and reality.

    The Black Church, the largest sacral building in Transylvania, has been given a central role in the local identity narratives. As a historical place of remembrance, it mediates and mobilizes elements of historical knowledge, and at the same time constructs a myth.The article examines how the Black Church in Brasov, one of the most important symbols of the Transylvanian Saxons, is poetically constructed as a place of cultural memory in the German, Romanian and Hungarian poems of the interwar period, how the concrete place is reinterpreted as a space for creating identity, while the ethnic dimension should not be ignored. It examines the question of what symbolic value it has for the German, Romanian and Hungarian populations and how this can be seen from the lyrical texts of the time.

    The present study focuses on imagology. Starting from the theoretical aspects of the concepts self-image and hetero-image, the analysis ponders upon the imagological constructs of two ethnical groups in the novel of the Romanian German-language author Andreas Birkner. In this analysis, the self image identifies with the one of the Transylvanian, and the image of the other is that of the Roma. The analysis of Birkner's novel leads to the conclusion that there have been certain mental images deeply rooted in historical reality and which can be, partly, explained by means of collective memory parameters. Stereotypes and prejudices should be considered in this context.

    This article addresses a little known poem by Goethe, Planetentanz (Dance of the Planets) and analyses it’s content referring to mythology, astronomy and dramaturgy. Goethe’s planets are defined by the character of their namesake gods and goddesses as well as by the physical characters of the rocky or gaseous heavenly bodies known today with their characteristics explored by Goethe’s contemporaries. It has been shown that Goethe corresponded with some of the most influential astronomers of his time.

    The story “Ja nicht ja” was written specifically for the volume “Der siebenbürgische Voltaire. Walther Gottfried Seidner zum 80. Geburtstag” by the famous novelist Eginald Schlattner. It brings the communist regime and the Department of State Security into the focus of the reader. During a meeting in the early 1990s attended by evangelical Lutheran priests of Augustan Confession a young priest admitted that he was a collaborator of the State Security, and thus managed to take over the burden of being an informant on the shoulders of others. Father Walther Gottfried Seidner, who was also threatened, managed to avoid State Security at any price, and understanding the situation of the young priest takes his defense.

    An essential factor for the naming practice lies in the language(s) spoken by that certain family. In the nowadays very common multilingual families in Transylvania, the so called ‚mixed marriages’, the linguistic contact also becomes manifest in the field of onomatology. Out of the vast subject matter, four aspects will be approached: the decline of the tradition of naming a child after a parent; naming practices following ethnic reasons in order to denote a certain identity; naming preferences for international names in mixed families; the increasing diversification and inter-culturality of name-giving due to globalization and the impact of social media. Concrete examples – based on bap tis mal registers of the local Lutheran Church – illustrate the monitored trends.

    Am 1. April 1989 wird das Empire State Building von einem reichen Ölscheich gekauft, der es Stein für Stein, Stahlstrebe für Stahlstrebe, im Wüstensand wieder aufbauen lassen will. Der Schotte James Mac Killian reist von 1923–1925 in einem Heißluftballon um die Welt und berichtet davon. Und in den Fragmenten des Geographenvolks der Orbæ lassen sich versunkene Welten erahnen, die sich mutige Reisende erschlossen und dokumentiert haben. Irritiert mag man sich fragen, ob einem diese Fakten entgangen sind, oder ob David Macaulays Unbuilding (1980) fake news ist, Caroline Mac Killians Journey of the Zephyr (2010) eine Lüge und die beeindruckende Bildbandtrilogie von François Place, Atlas des géographes d’Orbæ (1996–2000), eine unverfrorene Fälschung. Oder sind alle drei ›einfach‹ Bilderbücher und somit ohnehin Fiktion, ja Kunst mit all den ihr zustehenden Freiheiten? ... Drawing on recent research in narratology and theories of fiction, this article proposes ways of productively looking at non­fiction for children beyond the fact­fiction divide. The key to a differentiated analytical toolkit is the semantic distinction between the real and fictional content on the one hand – the question of referentiality – and the prag­matic difference between factual and fictional ways of presenting it on the other hand – whether it lays a claim or not to referential truthfulness on the discursive level. These categories, analysed according to a three­step model developed by Nickel­Bacon, Groeben and Schreier (2000), allow for a nuanced description of the many hybrid forms of non­fiction, especially information picture books. This article will present a typology of dif­ferent variations on the ›fictionality of the factual‹ and the ›factuality of the fictional‹ in current information books for young readers, and show that there is more fiction in non­fiction than is commonly assumed.

    Dass im Sachbuch allgemein und im bebilderten Sachbuch für Kinder im Speziellen mittlerweile verschiedene Formen der Informationsvermittlung existieren, bei denen einerseits die Erzählung, und andererseits die Sache selbst im Vordergrund stehen können, spiegelt sich unter anderem in Begriffen wie Sachbilderbuch, Erzählsachbuch oder Informationssachbuch (vgl. Ossowski 2000, S. 673) wider. Diese Begriffe legen offen, dass Sachbücher mittlerweile verschiedene Akzentuierungen der Kombination erzählender und informierender und daraus folgend fiktionaler und faktualer Narrationselemente aufweisen, denen die dem Sachbuch unterstellte Dichotomie dieser beiden Aspekte (vgl. Hussong 1984, S. 71) nicht gerecht wird... The nonfiction picture book for children has long since ceased to be a source of exclusively factual information. In recent times, fictional narrative elements have often been used to convey the conditions of extralinguistic reality. These fictional narrative elements differ from the factual ones not only in their design but also in how they are received. Due to different modes of fictional representation, recipients take an interest in the fate of the characters within the framework of make-believe, and their empathy can ultimately result in understanding of others. This article presents the thesis that the combination of factual and fictional narrative elements in the nonfiction picture book Alle da! Unser kunterbuntes Leben results in a heightened access to the perception of extralinguistic reality. The book deals with topics such as otherness, migration and cultural diversity in both factual and narrative ways by combining different forms of representation. The inclusion of fictional narrative strategies, such as the establishment of child characters and the representation of their consciousness, increases the emotional participation in what is being read and expands the young recipients’ perception of extralinguistic reality.

    »Der grundlegende Wandel der Kommunikationsverhältnisse besteht nicht darin, dass zunehmend Abbildungen die Textkommunikation ergänzen oder einschränken [...]. Der grundlegende Wandel besteht darin, dass neue und neuartige Mischformen der verschiedensten Kommunikationsmodi und Kanäle entstanden sind, die man als multimodale Kommunikationsformen bezeichnen kann.« (Bucher 2011, S. 123)

    Gudrun Marci-Boehncke macht als wesentliche Ursache dieser Hybridisierungen die durch das Internet, den »Ort [...] der Medien schlechthin«, in immer umfassenderer Weise gegebene Medienkonvergenz aus (Marci-Boehncke 2013, S. 507)... Recently, multimodal texts, i.e. texts using more than one mode to communicate with their readers, have become increasingly prominent in children’s literature. While the illustration of written texts has been a common long-time practice, the new multimodal books for children use images as an additional, original level of narrative. The general assumption in children’s literature studies is that it is easier for children to read a combination of text and images, as the images help them to understand the text. The analysis of three comic books on Roman history will show that, on the contrary, the process of understanding is actually more complex in the new multimodal texts for children: The pictorial narrative demands a more sophisticated kind of reading expertise. In addition, the task of decoding becomes more challenging when the narratives follow different intentions, which is often the case in contemporary comic books in which the pictorial narrative can be an ironic take on the written narrative.

    Als global bekanntes Erinnerungsnarrativ nimmt Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank (erste deutsche Fassung 1950) einen bedeutenden Part in der Holocaust Education ein. Dabei beteiligt sich die grafische Adaption von Ari Folmans und David Polonskys Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank. Graphic Diary (2017) auf zweierlei Art am Fortschreiben des kulturellen Gedächtnisses; einerseits in seiner Geformtheit durch die Publikation selbst und darüber hinaus in seiner Organisiertheit aufgrund der institutionalisierten Kommunikation (vgl. Assmann 1988, S. 12). Anne Frank’s Diary: The Graphic Interpretation by Ari Folman and David Polonsky (2017) is a recent addition to a sequence of editions that have shaped the perception of Anne Frank’s story. At the same time, the ethics and aesthetics of remembrance have been consistently discussed. These discussions have been fueled by discourses on memory as well as by the reimagination of the past by new generations. As Marianne Hirsch states »Postmemory’s connection to the past is [...] actually mediated not by recall but by imaginative investment, projection, and creation« (Hirsch 2012). Ari Folman and David Polonsky work with those imaginative approaches and reshape historical events on the visual and the verbal narrative levels. As with Waltz with Bashir (2009), on which Folman and Polonsky collaborated successfully as author and illustrator, Anne Frank’s Diary is also an extraordinary testimony of war based on extensive research. Intermedial references, such as historical photographs, documentaries and journal entries add authenticity to Anne Frank’s Diary: The Graphic Interpretation and lead the reader on a journey back in time. This article discusses the relationship between the visual representation of memory in the Diary and how it goes about narrating the story, and it examines this graphic novel’s potential for shaping and reshaping the reader’s perception of history.

    Lange Zeit herrschte im Forschungsdiskurs die Meinung vor, dass Kinder- und Jugendliteratur »aus sich selbst heraus verständlich sei und keiner literaturwissenschaftlichen Interpretationskunst bedürfe« (Gansel / Korte 2009, S. 7). Aus diesem Grund standen Fragen nach der Machart der Texte im Verhältnis zu Fragen nach ihren »Inhalte[n], Themen, pädagogische[n] Strategien und so genannte[n] ›Botschaften‹« (ebd.) häufig im Hintergrund. Diese Vorstellung hat sich mittlerweile jedoch gewandelt, was nicht zuletzt auf eine grundlegende Veränderung in der literarischen Landschaft seit Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts zurückzuführen ist... This article focusses on a recent trend in contemporary literature: docufictional storytelling. It argues, in a first step, that this trend can be understood as a reflected way of dealing with the concept of reality in a highly virtual and digital world. Docufictional novels rely on documentary as well as fictional strategies, and interweave them via intramedial, intermedial and transmedial approaches. By doing so, the texts reconstruct a real reality to which their readers have no direct temporal or spatial access. At the same time, they show that reality can be only a construction, even if authentic material is included. Providing access to reality can be seen as one of the main goals in the literary production addressing young readers. In a second step, this article analyses contemporary German young adult literature and examines the forms and functions of docufictional storytelling, which can be found in those texts. It focusses especially on two novels by Dirk Reinhardt, Edelweißpiraten (2012) and Train Kids (2015), and concludes that this mode of narration between entertainment and information offers young readers the opportunity to develop their media and discourse competencies.

Sekundär bedeutet, dass Literatur ein neues zeichentheoretisches System konstituiert, in dem die Signifikate der normalsprachlichen Zeichen eine neue Bedeutung bekommen; der Text erschafft folglich das Modell einer Welt und entspricht demnach nicht nur nicht der Realität, sondern soll es auch erst gar nicht (vgl. ebd., S. 65– 85). Dieses erschaffene Modell einer Welt meint das, was im Folgenden als Konstruktion bezeichnet wird. Was geschieht jedoch, wenn nicht einmal auszumachen ist, ob dem, was in der erzählten Welt geschieht, ein diegetischer Wahrheitsgehalt zugesprochen werden kann oder nicht? Und wie wird diese Unsicherheit narrativ erzeugt? ... On its cover, Tamara Bach’s Marienbilder (2014) is described as »a novel in five possibilities. «Thus, from the outset, the paratext indicates the constructed quality of the plot and refuses to give any clear interpretation. This article will explore how the ontological uncertainty that permeates the entire novel is narratively constructed. To demonstrate this, special focus is placed on the beginning and the end of the narrative. A specific characteristic of Marienbilder is that the beginning and the end appear to be almost identi­cal. However, in the end, the novel breaches both content-related and literary boundaries in that the narrator negates her own existence and can thus no longer function as narrator. This analysis illustrates how uncertainty is created not only at the level of histoire but also at the level of discours, above all through its occasionally incongruent interplay. Fricke’s definition of function (1997) and the parameters of classical narra­tive text analysis are particularly relevant for the analysis of Marienbilder. By revealing the narrative structures, it is ultimately possible to recognise the specific aesthetics of the novel precisely because the only ›fact‹ in this fictional text is that in the narrated world, just as in the ›real‹ world, appearance rather than being, and fake rather than fact, dominate.

    Zahlreiche Superheldenfiguren sind dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie nicht nur über Superkräfte verfügen, sondern auch eine Doppelidentität besitzen: In der äußerlich durch eine Maske sichtbar gemachten Heldenidentität vollbringen sie öffentlich Heldentaten, in der zivilen Identität dagegen verbergen sie ihre Kräfte und verschweigen ihrem Umfeld ihr Heldentum. Solche Figuren lassen sich als maskierte Helden und Heldinnen beschreiben; die Maskerade bzw. das Geheimnis um die Doppelidentität ist eine Grundlage ihres Heldentums. Many superheroes are not defined by their superpowers alone but also by their having established a double identity – wearing an actual mask while ›working‹ as a hero in public but hiding their superpowers by wearing a metaphorical mask in their civilian persona. In this article, double identity is investigated in relation to the secret and the mask as forms of social interaction. It is argued that stories about masked heroes tend to implicitly address matters of identity. On the one hand, a mask evokes the notion of an authentic self, either concealed or revealed by the mask; while on the other hand it also permits identity to be perceived as multiple and fluid. This article examines how two examples of the masked hero in the context of twentieth ­century identity discourse, namely Marvel Comics’ Spider­Man/Peter Parker and Nova/Rich Rider, are linked with Erving Goffman’s self­presentation theory as well as with Robert Jay Lifton’s concept of the protean self.

    Carson Ellis’ Bilderbuch "Du Iz Tak?" (2016) stellt eine besondere Herausforderung der Bilderbuchübersetzung dar, da der Schrifttext ausschließlich in einer fiktiven Sprache verfasst ist. Eine Übersetzung erscheint damit zwar auf den ersten Blick überflüssig. Eine nähere Untersuchung des Ausgangstextes legt jedoch vielfaltige intermodale, inter- und intralinguale Bezuge frei, die einerseits ein Feld der Polyvalenz entfalten und die Übersetzung erschweren, andererseits eine Übersetzung unumgänglich machen. Carson Ellis’s award-winning picture book "Du Iz Tak?" is a special case of picturebook translation since the original text is written in an invented language. The comparative examination of the original and selected translations (German and Dutch) exposes the latent limits of picturebook translation. The written text in Du Iz Tak? consists exclusively of the direct speech of anthropomorphic insects. Reception of the work involves searching for clues in order to acquire the bug language. It is remarkable that, despite the invented nature of the bug language, different language editions of the work have been produced. Comments by the author and the publisher point out that the translation of the work was considered inevitable at an early stage, but it also represented a great challenge. The following two questions will be pursued in this article: Which intermodal interrelations within the original text determine the necessity of language-specific translations of Du Iz Tak? To what extent do the translations differ in their approach to this challenge? The semiosis of the bug language in Du Iz Tak? that demands translation is examined and the polyvalence of the text is discussed. A comparison of the original text with the two translations shows the translational shifts that are brought about by the notion of the single address in children’s literature. This article reveals the limits of transferability of this specific book as well as the general challenges of picturebook translation.

IX) als auch reich an Innovationen des Kinder- und Jugendbuchmarkts im Prozess der Institutionalisierung und der Modernisierung (vgl. Schmid 2018, S. 22 ff.; Ewers 1982, S. 13 u. a.). Zu Recht wurde betont, dass sich Verlage als »eigentlich bestimmende und dynamische« Instanz der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur herausstellten, weil sie »als erste die enorm gestiegenen Lese- und Bildungsbedürfnisse immer breiterer Schichten wahrnahmen« und darauf strategisch geschickt reagierten (vgl. Dettmar u. a. 2003, S. 128)... This article, a contribution to the history of the book, presents the publishing house Carl Friedrich Amelang as an important example of specialised children’s book production in early nineteenth-century Berlin and Germany. The focus is on strategies of production, distribution, the materiality of books and their reception with special attention paid to the importance of illustrations, specific book styles and authors such as Johann Heinrich Meynier and Amalia Schoppe. It shows how this publishing house continued the tradition of eighteenth-century children’s literature, while modernising it with new genres such as adventure novels and information books.
