Enthalten sind derzeit rund 60 Zeitschriften (Stand Dez. 2005), die vor allem in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts in Italien veröffentlicht wurden. Verzeichnet wird Primär- und Sekundärliteratur aus der italienischen und internationalen Literatur. Berücksichtigt wurden v.a. Zeitschriften, die nicht über einen gedruckten Index oder die als Nachdruck erschienen sind. Initiator des Projekts ist Prof. Giorgio Baroni (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). Für den Zugang zur Datenbank ("Consulta l'indice") ist zuvor eine Registrierung mit Namen und E-Mail-Adresse obligatorisch ("Accedi alla fase di registrazione").

    The current diffusion of a design mentality that proceeds by the assignment of themes, in the design of both sites and individual architectural elements, makes it useful to ponder the subject of the theme park that is the purest example of this. More specifically, what this signifies is questioning ourselves about the relations between the natural element, the architecture and the symbol. Addressing the argument with the eye of the landscape architect, it appears dense with repercussions, focusing the question of what landscape we are dealing with and what its design entails. This is an issue of landscape architecture in the purest sense and in its most extreme forms. La diffusione contemporanea dell'atteggiamento progettuale che procede per assegnazione di temi, nel disegno dei luoghi e delle singole architetture, rende utile ragionare sull'oggetto parco tematico che ne rappresenta l'esempio più puro. Questo significa specificatamente interrogarsi sul rapporto fra elemento naturale, architettura e simbolo: appare carico di conseguenze affrontare l'argomento con lo sguardo del paesaggista, domandarsi di quale paesaggio si tratti e cosa comporti progettarlo. È una questione di architettura del paesaggio nel suo senso più proprio e nelle sue forme più estreme.

    The book presents a selection of the works presented during various encounters held in sites connected with the life of Paolo Mantegazza, aimed at retrieving and valorising his cultural legacy. An eclectic figure - scientist, novelist, anthropologist and politician - Paolo Mantegazza (1831-1910) played a leading role in Italian society and the cultural scene of the late nineteenth century. The contributions of academics from different disciplines enable us to reconstruct both the great variety of the man’s interests and curiosities, and the strict methodological rigour that guided his entire scientific production and is today the most evident sign of his contemporary relevance. Il libro raccoglie una selezione dei lavori presentati in vari incontri tenuti nei luoghi legati alla vicenda biografica di Paolo Mantegazza e che miravano a recuperare e valorizzare la sua eredità culturale. Figura eclettica di scienziato, romanziere, divulgatore, politico, Paolo Mantegazza (1831-1910) ha avuto un ruolo di primo piano nella cultura e nella società italiana della fine del XIX secolo; i contributi di studiosi di diverse discipline consentono di ricostruire sia la grande varietà degli interessi e delle curiosità dell'uomo, sia il profondo rigore metodologico che guida la sua intera produzione scientifica e che rappresenta il segno più forte della sua attualità.

    This text proposes a rereading of the Decameron that traces the female figures - 'constrained' as we are told in the Proem, by the 'wishes', 'desires' and 'orders' of fathers, mothers, brothers and husbands - in their attempt to open up areas of personal life. The possession of the female body, considered as part of the family property in a social context governed by a commercial rationale, is an instrument of the violence characterising all social relations, which Boccaccio indicates as a cause for the wrath of God that exploded in the plague of 1348. Moreover, their bodies also become an instrument in the hands of the women themselves when they decide - with all the ambiguity which the context imposed (even on the author) - to repossess the same to use it as a weapon of revenge, an occasion of joy or a gift of love. Il testo propone una rilettura del Decameron seguendo le figure femminili "costrette", come dice il Proemio, "da' voleri, da' piaceri, da' comandamenti de' padri, delle madri, de' fratelli e de' mariti" nei loro tentativi di aprire spazi di vita propria. Il possesso del corpo delle donne, parte del patrimonio familiare nel contesto sociale guidato dalla ragion di mercatura, è uno strumento della violenza che connota tutti i rapporti sociali, e che il Boccaccio indica come causa dell'ira di Dio esplosa nella peste del 1348. Ma diviene anche strumento delle donne quando decidono con tutta l'ambiguità che il contesto imponeva (anche all'Autore) di riappropriarsene per farne arma di vendetta, occasione di gioia, o dono d'amore.

    Among the channels of human expression, perhaps the richest of all is music, through which people can express their emotions – in a continuum ranging from joy to grief, from excitement to depression – in a manner that is socially and culturally accessible and acceptable. This book addresses the aspects involved in both producing and listening to music from the point of view of cognitive science. Arguments that might appear hard for non-specialists to understand are addressed in a clear and accessible language. An enthralling itinerary through the various aspects of the human relationship with music that underscores how the long path from the first sounds that man has produced and identified in nature through to the most modern compositions are the result of a process of rationalisation gravitating around the multiform relationship between man, the environment and musical creation. Fra i canali d'espressione dell'uomo il più ricco è forse la musica, che permette di esprimere le proprie emozioni – in un continuum che va dalla gioia al dolore, dalla esaltazione alla depressione – in modi socialmente e culturalmente accessibili e accettabili. Il volume affronta, dal punto di vista della scienza cognitiva, gli aspetti coinvolti sia nel produrre che ascoltare musica. Questi argomenti, che possono sembrare di non facile comprensione ai non specialisti, sono affrontati con un linguaggio chiaro e accessibile. Viene così costruito un appassionante percorso su alcuni aspetti del rapporto dell'uomo con la musica, che evidenzia come il lungo cammino dai primi suoni che l'uomo ha prodotto e individuato nella natura sino alle composizioni più moderne sia il risultato di un processo di razionalizzazione che ha visto al centro il multiforme rapporto fra uomo, ambiente e creazione musicale.

    The subject of this study is the design of major road infrastructures, usually motorways or dual carriageways, as borderline cases in the controversial dichotomy between landscape and infrastructure. It retraces around a century of constructions and theories from the perspective of landscape, which is conceived in the broadest possible sense of system, and in all its cultural, ecological and perceptive aspects. The aim is to identify a method, or more precisely a basic design philosophy, that can guide the transformations in terms of quality. The infrastructure is thus no longer in opposition to the landscape, but rather an integral part of it. La presente ricerca ha come oggetto la progettazione delle grandi infrastrutture viarie, solitamente autostrade o superstrade, quali casi limite del controverso rapporto infrastruttura/paesaggio. Nel ripercorrere circa un secolo di realizzazioni e di teorie dal punto di vista del paesaggio, paesaggio inteso appunto nel suo significato più ampio e di sistema, e in tutti i suoi aspetti culturali, ecologici e percettivi, il fine è quello di individuare una metodologia, o più precisamente una filosofia progettuale di base, utile ad indirizzare le trasformazioni indotte in termini qualitativi: infrastruttura quindi non più in oggetto contrapposizione al paesaggio ma parte integrante di esso.

    This book presents the results of a study on the fragmentation of the suburban territory in the Florentine plain, developed in the framework of the Florence University PhD course in Landscape Design. Thus the landscape on the western edge of the urban centre becomes a case study for evolving from the applications to the quest for theoretical and methodological elements. What emerges clearly from this is the importance of the design mentality as an essential cultural value for the drafting of policies of active conservation, retrieval and modification of the landscape. Il volume presenta gli esiti di uno studio riguardante la frammentazione paesistica dei territori periubani di pianura nell'area fiorentina, elaborato nell'ambito delle attività del Dottorato di ricerca in Progettazione paesistica dell'Università di Firenze. Il paesaggio di margine ad ovest del nucleo urbano diviene così un caso di studio per passare dalle applicazioni alla ricerca di elementi teorico-metodologici. In tal senso emerge chiaramente l'importanza del pensiero progettuale come valore culturale essenziale per l'impostazione di politiche di conservazione attiva, recupero e modificazione del paesaggio.

    Exploited for requirements of defence, navigation, transport, irrigation, and the powering of mills, water has progressively diminished in importance to the extent that the relations between the city, the territory and the water systems have now greatly deteriorated. This book proposes to retrace the nature of the relations between water and the urban landscape, interpreting the shifting of the relations through images. It also analyses the use of water in contemporary landscape design, identifying the conceptual and compositional tools proper to landscape design which can inform and guide future planning. Sfruttata per esigenze di difesa, navigazione, trasporto, irrigazione, funzionamento di opifici, l'acqua ha progressivamente perso importanza tanto che oggi i rapporti fra città, territorio e sistema delle acque si sono deteriorati. Il volume si propone di: ripercorrere la natura delle relazioni tra acqua e paesaggio urbano; interpretare il mutare delle relazioni attraverso le immagini; analizzare l'uso dell'acqua nel progetto di paesaggio contemporaneo; identificare gli strumenti concettuali e compositivi propri del progetto di paesaggio in grado di informare ed orientare le progettazioni future.

    This book presents the results of research carried out by the author over the three years of the PhD in Landscape Design at Florence University. The first part of the work focuses on the theoretical and methodological aspects of the study of the agricultural landscape and the description of its component elements, the process of its formation and the evolution of its structure. The second part represents a practical application of these observations, with an original elaboration of the relations that have given rise to the various types of agricultural landscape into which the Roman countryside can be broken down. In short, the scope of the research is to set into relation a cognitive model of the agrarian landscape with a specific territorial framework rich in emblematic landscape situations, setting itself the objective of testing the feasibility of the application of individual interpretations and proposals, and of reappraising the role of the agrarian landscape within the current process of environmental and landscape redevelopment. Il volume presenta i risultati della ricerca condotta dall'autrice durante i tre anni del Dottorato in "Progettazione Paesistica" di Firenze. La prima parte del lavoro è incentrata sugli aspetti teorici e metodologici dello studio del paesaggio agrario e sulla descrizione dei suoi elementi componenti, dei suoi processi formativi, dell'evoluzione della sua struttura. La seconda parte è un'applicazione pratica di quanto rilevato, con un'elaborazione originale delle relazioni che danno origine alle diverse tipologie di paesaggi agrari secondo le quali è oggi possibile articolare la campagna romana. In sintesi la ricerca ha voluto mettere in relazione un modello conoscitivo riferito al paesaggio agrario con un quadro territoriale specifi co ricco di situazioni paesistiche emblematiche, ponendosi l'obiettivo di saggiare la fattibilità dell'applicazione delle chiavi di lettura individuate e proposte, e di rivalutare il ruolo del paesaggio agrario all'interno dell'attuale processo di riqualifi cazione ambientale e paesistica.
