    Dieser Artikel beschäftigt sich mit der Avantgarde als Kunstform, die sich aus der Auseinandersetzung mit technischem Fortschritt, Stadterfahrung und neuen Wahrnehmungsmustern formiert und die Multiperspektivität und Simultanität des urbanen Lebens als ein zentrales Prinzip für ihre Werke nutzt. Untersucht werden sowohl die europäischen Avantgardisten wie auch ihr Einfluss auf Literatur und Malerei Brasiliens in den 20er Jahren. Ein weiterer Teil widmet sich der konkreten Poesie als literarisches Pendant zu architektonischen Konzepten von Städten wie São Paulo und Brasília. This article conceives the avant-garde as a form of art that emerges out of the experience with technical progress, city life and new patterns of perception and that succeeded in transforming multiple perspective and simultaneity of urban life into a central principle for their production. Analyzed are the European avant-gardes as well as their influences on Brazilian literature and painting in the 20s. Furthermore we take a look at concrete poetry of the 50's as a literary pendant to architectonic concepts of cities like São Paulo and Brasília.

    Ausgehend vom Stadt-Land-Gegensatz, der schon in Vergils Georgica beobachtbar ist und dann in der englischen und französischen Lyrik des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts eine wichtige Rolle spielt, richtet sich der Blick zunächst auf die deutsche Tradition der 'Großstadtlyrik' . Hier läßt sich seit etwa 1900 von einem zunächst teils dämonisierenden, teils von Motiven des Erhabenen geprägten Umgang mit dem Phänomen Metropole sprechen, während französische, englische oder amerikanische Autoren (Wordsworth, Whitman, Baudelaire) bereits einen weniger ideologischen Umgang mit der neuen Urbanität pflegen. Erst in der Nachkriegszeit, vorbereitet durch expressionistische Autoren wie Ernst Stadler oder später Benn, wird auch in der deutschsprachigen Poetologie der plurale, hybride Charakter der Großstadt entdeckt. Den Abschluß bilden Beispiele aus der nordamerikanischen und der brasilianischen Lyrik. The opposition city-country which appears already in Vergils Georgics and becomes very relevant in the British and French poetry of the 18th and 19th centuries, will be treated at first with regard to the German tradition of 'city-poetry'. Since about 1900 the phenomenon of the big city (metropolis) combines with demoniac and sublime motives, while French, English or American authors (Baudelaire, Wordsworth, Whitman) saw the city from a less ideological perspective. Only in the postwar-decade – after some anticipations by authors of Expressionism like Ernst Stadler or Gottfried Benn – the pluralistic, hybrid character of the city will be discovered also in German poetology. Some examples of Modern North American and Brazilian poetry will be analyzed in the last chapter of the article.

    Die Bedeutung und der Einfluss des Werkes von Franz Rosenzweig, jüdisch-deutscher Philosoph vom Beginn des vergangenen Jahrhunderts, werden noch immer nicht angemessen gewürdigt. Rosenzweig entwickelt in seinem Hauptwerk, der "Stern der Erlösung", ausgehend von eminent theologischen Kategorien, sein philosophisches System. Dem "Monolog des Ich" der traditionellen Philosophie setzt Rosenzweig ein "Neues Denken" von existenzialistischem Gepräge entgegen, das die Mündlichkeit und den Dialog mit dem "Anderen" aufwertet und den Verstand als Werkzeug der Reflexion ersetzt. Dieses Denken weist Korrespondenzen zur Philosophie W. Benjamins auf. Das "Neue Denken" übte einen starken Einfluss auf E. Levinas aus, sowie auf zahlreiche interessante philosophische und theologische Ansätze nach dem "Iinguistic turn" und auf die postmoderne jüdische Geistigkeit. Rosenzweigs Philosophie hat andererseits in seiner Übersetzertätigkeit eine wichtige direkte Anwendung gefunden. Übersetzen erscheint Rosenzweig als Verpflichtung, die aus einer Ethik, verstanden als grundlegender Philosophie, erwächst. Der vorliegende Artikel analysiert einige Aspekte der Schriften Rosenzweigs, in denen sich eine "Philosophie der Übersetzung" abzeichnet. The relevance of the work and the influence of Franz Rosenzweig, a German Jewish philosopher of the beginning of the last century; are still to get the appreciation they deserve. Rosenzweig was the author of one of the greatest – and less read – books of the 20th century, "The Star of Redemption", where he develops his philosophical system mainly on basis of theological categories. To the "monologue of the I" of mainstream philosophy, Rosenzweig opposes a "new thinking", of existential character, which values orality and the "other", and where language substitutes reason as a tool for thought. In it one can find some correspondences with the thought of Walter Benjamin. This "new thinking", also, strongly influenced Emmanuel Levinas and nowadays bears its fruits within "linguistic turn" philosophy and theology, and post-modern Jewish thought. This philosophy found in Rosenzweig's work in translation one of its main practical applications. To translate was for Rosenzweig a necessity, emanating from an ethics constituted as "first philosophy". This article examines some aspects of Rosenzweig's writings from where his "philosophy of translation" is made explicit.

    The present paper looks at certain aspects of Samuel Putnam's translation of Euclides da Cunha's "Os Sertões", "Rebellion in the Backlands". Of great importance is the fact that "Os Sertões", usually seen as a work of literature in Brazil, is seen more as a factual narrative in English, and placed by its publisher, the University of Chicago Press, in the Literature/History section. Putnam also adds a large number of footnotes to those of Euclides de Cunha. Also of interest is the fact that Putnam, translating just when the US was entering the Second World War, goes to great lengths in his preface to emphasize how close "Os Sertões" is to the American experience of division in both the Civil War and the entrance of the US into the Second World War. Der vorliegende Aufsatz untersucht Samuel Putnams Übersetzung des Romans "Os Sertões" von Euclides da Cunha ("Rebellion in the Backlands") unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten. Von großer Wichtigkeit ist die Tatsache, daß "Os Sertões" in Brasilien gewöhnlich als literarisches Werk betrachtet wird, während das Buch auf Englisch mehr als historischer Bericht gilt und vom Verlag, der University of Chicago Press, in der Sparte Literature/History geführt wird. Außerdem fügt Putnam eine große Zahl von Fußnoten zu denen von Euclides da Cunha hinzu. Von Interesse ist auch die Tatsache, daß Putnam, der seine Übersetzung gerade zu der Zeit anfertigte, als die USA in den Zweiten Weltkrieg eintraten. in seinem Vorwort ausführlich darauf eingeht, wie nah "Os Sertões" den Meinungsgegensätzen steht, die die amerikanische Erfahrung sowohl des Bürgerkrieges als auch des Eintritts in den Zweiten Weltkrieg kennzeichneten.

    This paper focusses On the discussion of the preservation of expressive aspects in translation., Considerations are grounded on the HJELMSLEVian concepts of the isomorphy between the planes of content and expression, which are both constituted by-substance and form. The present study intends to show that the connotative equivalence of a text can only be achieved in the target language when attention is paid to both the formal-stylistic and the textual-normative dimensions. This involves the appropriation of the stylistic values of the linguistic expression in the source language and, mainly, the understanding of the tropes and the relationships between them. Thus, the present study draws on discourse analysis, comprehending "enunciation" theories and the rhetorical and pragmatic considerations on the level of expression. Considering that the literary text is privileged in providing stylistically marked choices, it is important to highlight the phonetic and semantic correspondences, that is, the close relationship between sound and meaning, which harbours one of the major difficulties in translation. The theory is applied to "Os Sertões" (English translation: "Rebellion on the Backlands") by Euclides da Cunha. Der vorliegende Aufsatz diskutiert das Problem der Erhaltung expressiver Texteigenschaften bei der Übersetzung. Den Ausgangspunkt der Überlegungen bildet die HJELMSLEVsche Konzeption der Isomorphie zwischen Inhalts- und Ausdrucksebene, die ihrerseits beide aus Substanz und Form zusammengesetzt sind. Das Ziel ist zu zeigen, daß die konnotative Textäquivalenz in der Zielsprache nur erreicht wird, wenn man formal-stilistische und textnormative Gesichtspunkte in Betracht zieht, was die Aneignung der Stilwerte sprachlicher Ausdrücke der Ausgangssprache und besonders das Verständnis der Stilfiguren und der zwischen ihnen bestehenden Beziehungen voraussetzt. Es ist mithin eine diskursanalytische Perspektive (Theorien der Äußerung und rhetorisch-pragmatische Überlegungen zur Ausdrucksebene eingeschlossen), von der sich die vorliegende Arbeit leiten läßt. Wenn man den literarischen Text als den Ort markierter stilistischer Auswahlen par excellence auffaßt, ist es wichtig die phonetischen und semantischen Korrespondenzen hervorzuheben, d.h. die enge Beziehung zwischen Klang und Bedeutung zu berücksichtigen, die der Übersetzung besonderen Widerstand bietet. Angewandt werden die theoretischen Überlegungen auf den Roman "Os Sertões" (dt.: "Krieg im Sertão") von Euclides DA CUNHA.

    Nas eleições legislativas de 3 de Outubro de 1999, a Österreichische Volkspartei liderada por Wolfgang Schüssel forma governo com a terceira força partidária do país, a Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, dirigida pelo controverso governador da Caríntia Jörg Haider que, com os seus discursos de cariz claramente xenófobo, lançou o olhar da Europa sobre a Áustria pelas piores razões. No rescaldo desta coligação, mediante um cenário que, em larga escala, parecia representar um retrocesso no passado, o escritor e ativista político austríaco de origem judaica Doron Rabinovici publica um texto no jornal israelita HaGalil, ao qual dá o curioso título “Doron R. und D. Rabinovici. Der nationale Doppler”. Trata-se, na verdade, de uma espécie de diálogo assumidamente esquizofrénico no qual Doron R., o israelita, interpela D. Rabinovici, o austríaco, e o desafia a repensarem a sua relação [...]. Em 2010, uma década após ter publicado este texto, Rabinovici regressa ao registo literário com Andernorts, romance onde parece retomar esse diálogo. Se, no final da década de noventa, D. Rabinovici, o austríaco, reconhece que se sente simultaneamente parte integrante da cidade de Viena, porém também um estranho, porque, no fundo, o seu país é responsável pela morte de milhões de membros do seu povo, o protagonista do romance aqui em apreço, Ethan Rosen, também ele um israelita que vive em Viena, tece considerações semelhantes, mas desta feita relativamente a Israel: “Er wusste sich zu Hause, fühlte sich so heimisch und fremd zugleich, da ihn die Sehnsucht erfaßte sofort wiederfortzufliegen”.     As transformações desencadeadas na Alemanha pela Queda do Muro de Berlim, bem como pela consequente união dos dois Estados alemães, a 3 de outubro do ano seguinte, tiveram ressonância excecional por todo o mundo. Acontecimentos contíguos, ambos redundaram inevitavelmente numa reestruturação da arquitetura política e ideológica de toda a Europa. A Reunificação Alemã foi, na verdade, recebida pelos restantes países europeus como case-study para a projetada Unificação Europeia. Nascia, assim, um intenso debate entre europeístas, por um lado, os quais olhavam a Reunificação Alemã como um passo determinante no caminho da construção de uma Europa democrática, e eurocéticos, por outro lado, os quais, não acreditando numa integração europeia, temiam o ressurgimento do “gigante” alemão. Portugal estava particularmente interessado nesta discussão, devido à sua posição periférica no contexto europeu. Torna-se assim interessante verificar de que forma estes acontecimentos foram acompanhados na imprensa periódica portuguesa de referência. Com este objetivo, foi analisada mais de uma centena de notícias, artigos de opinião, reportagens, entrevistas e editoriais, publicados de julho a dezembro de 1990 nos semanários Expresso e O Independente, e ainda no diário Público.

    Nach den Kolloquien, die 2009 und 2010 in Braga/Portugal stattfanden, organisierte der Portugiesische Germanistikverband (APEG - Associação Portuguesa de Estudos Germanísticos) am 28. und 29. Oktober 2011 sein III. Forum, welches jungen GermanistInnen gewidmet war. Die Tagung fand in diesem Jahr an der Universität Coimbra statt und versammelte über 20 junge GermanistInnen, die ihre Forschungsarbeiten zum Thema „Em Trânsito – Übergänge. Grenzen überschreiten in der Germanistik“ vortrugen. Diese Sondernummer der REAL stellt einige der Beiträge dieses Kolloquiums der breiteren Gemeinschaft der GermanistInnen vor. Damit wollen sowohl die APEG als auch die REAL ihren Beitrag zur Förderung des internationalen Nachwuchses in der Germanistik leisten. Die jungen GermanistInnen wurden dazu eingeladen, über Kultur als einen dynamischen Prozess und als Zusammentreffen verschiedenartiger komplexer Beziehungen von und in unterschiedlichen (Grenz)gebieten, die sich ständig neu definieren, zu äußern. Das Kolloquium gab die Möglichkeit zu einer breiten Diskussion über die Wahrnehmung von Grenzen und deren unterschiedliche Herausbildung, über Verschränkungen, Verhandlungen und Übersetzung, über Identitäten, Beziehungen und Konzepte, die sich entlang, gegen und mit diesen Grenzen herausbilden und artikulieren. Die verschiedenen Sektionen und Beiträge dieser Sondernummer dokumentieren, dass die hybriden Gebiete und fließenden Schnittstellen, die sich beim Zusammentreffen von Grenzen ergeben, zumeist die größten Herausforderungen, aber auch die produktivsten Schauplätze für konzeptionelle Entwicklungen und praktische Analysen darstellen. Sie zwingen uns, sowohl Konzepte und Fachgebiete, als auch den eigenen Standort in der Wissenschaft zu hinterfragen, da sie den epistemologischen Prozess durch Instabilität, Bewegung und Verschiebungen beeinflussen.

    The title "Paul Celan: Expression of the unspeakable" explains Celan's technique of showing the crude reality of the Third Reich with simple linguistic means, using traditional topoi of the lyric. Celan also questions the German language after Auschwitz in his poem Todesfuge. Unter dem Titel "Paul Celan: Ausdruck des Unsagbaren" wird gezeigt, wie Celan mit einfachen linguistischen Mitteln und den aus der lyrischen Tradition übernommenen Topoi die Realität des Bösen im Dritten Reich darstellt. Zugleich wird dadurch in seiner Todesfuge die deutsche Sprache nach Auschwitz in Frage gestellt.

    This study examines "On Music and Musicians", by the German composer Robert Schumann, with special emphasis on the reviews written between 1834 and 1836, in order to identify echoes of the main ideas on language and translation developed in Germany between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. The bases for the study are, firstly, that of the subject, and, secondly, time imbued with the notion of movement. The subject is anchored vertically and in a very personal way, operating within the subject that moves from one system of signs to another, or from one language to another. The second theme takes into account the shaping of the immersion into an element which will break down the barriers of time and, at a stroke, bring the past into the present and include the future. Este trabalho examina os "Escritos sobre a Música e os Músicos", do compositor alemão Robert Schumann, em especial as resenhas escritas entre 1834 e 1836, com vistas a identificar ecos das principais ideias sobre linguagem e tradução desenvolvidas na Alemanha entre o final do séc. XVIII e o início do séc. XIX. Os eixos escolhidos para construir essa ideia são os eixos do sujeito e do tempo perpassados pela noção de movimento. Do primeiro, destacase a ancoragem vertical, personalíssima, operada no interior do sujeito que transita de um sistema sígnico para outro, que traduz seus pensamentos, ou ainda que empreende a passage de uma língua para outra. Do segundo, tem-se em conta a configuração desse mergulho num produto que desmantela as barreiras do tempo e, de um só golpe, contemporiza o passado e inclui o futuro.

    Kraus’s last long text, "Dritte Walpurgisnacht" ("Third Walpurgis Night") was the satirist's reaction to Hitler's seizure of power. It offers the translator a great variety of problems because the author makes an exuberant use of quotations, puns, alliterations, neologisms and variations of sentences, proverbs, maxims and commonplaces. This paper presents some of these problems, discussing possibilities for their resolution, as well as defines a theoretical approach. Último texto de fôlego de Kraus, "Dritte Walpurgisnacht" ("Terceira noite de Valpúrgis") foi a reação do satirista à tomada do poder por Hitler. Do ponto de vista tradutório, oferece grande variedade de problemas, visto que o autor faz um uso exuberante de citações, trocadilhos, aliterações, neologismos e variações de ditos, provérbios, máximas e lugarescomuns. Este artigo apresenta alguns desses problemas e discute possibilidades para sua solução, não sem antes definir uma abordagem teórica. Kraus' letzter langer Text, "Dritte Walpurgisnacht" war die Reaktion des Satirikers auf Hitlers Machtergreifung. Er bietet eine große Vielfalt von Übersetzungsproblemen, da der Autor einen üppigen Gebrauch von Zitaten, Wortspielen, Alliterationen, Wortschöpfungen und Variationen zu Sprüchen, Sprichwörtern, Maximen und Gemeinplätzen macht. In diesem Aufsatz werden einige solcher Probleme vorgestellt und Lösungsmöglichkeiten erörtet, nicht ohne zuvor einen theoretischen Ansatz festzulegen.

    The following article aims to discuss the ground vocabulary of Freudian Metapsychology, beyond the conception of a simple and stiff collection of technique terms. Facing the fact that Freud was a brilliant writer and a keen explorer of the resources provided by the German language, we intend to demonstrate some distortions his vocabulary and style underwent after its passage through internationally influent translations into English and French. Therefore, since recently his work went into the public domain and finally it begins to be directly translated into Portuguese, it is a capital challenge to Freud´s translators in Brazil to recover the lifelike face of his words not disregarding the accuracy of his propositions. O presente artigo objetiva uma discussão sobre o vocabulário fundamental da Metapsicologia freudiana, para além da concepção de um simples e estanque agrupado de termos técnicos. Levando-se também em consideração o fato de que Freud foi um escritor brilhante e um perspicaz explorador dos recursos oferecidos pela língua alemã, é nossa intenção demonstrar certas distorções de seu estilo e vocabulário sofridas após ter passado por traduces internacionalmente influentes para as línguas inglesa e francesa. Logo, com a recente entrada da obra freudiana para o domínio público, esta finalmente passou a ser traduzida diretamente para o português, tornando-se atualmente um desafio fundamental aos tradutores brasileiros de Freud recuperar a vivacidade de suas palavras sem deixar de levar em consideração a acuidade de suas proposições.

    The father-son relationship has long been a cornerstone of psychoanalytic research. This article examines one such relationship, as present in Joseph Roth's novel "Zipper and His Father" ("Zipper und sein Vater", 1928), in the relevant historical and psycho-social context. Tracing a parallel between the fatherly figure of the Austro-Hungarian Emperor, Franz Joseph, and Arnold Zipper's father, as well as drawing upon the narrator's (and Roth's own) personal experience, the article presents an analysis of the importance of the fatherly figure and the devastating consequences of its absence. A relação pai-filho é uma das pedras angulares da pesquisa psicanalítica. Este artigo examina tal relação, assim como se apresenta no romance "Zipper und sein Vater" (1928, "Zipper e seu pai"), de Joseph Roth, em um contexto histórico e psicossocial relevante. Traçando um paralelo entre a figural paternal do Imperador Austro-Húngaro, Franz Joseph, e o pai de Arnold Zipper, e valendo-se da experiência pessoal do narrador (e do próprio Roth), o artigo apresenta uma análise da importância da figura e as consequências devastadoras de sua ausência.

    This article aims to investigate the correlation of thought between three leading names in the second half of the nineteenth century – Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and Hugo von Hofmannsthal – that have addressed the crisis of male identity against the return of matriarchy. Considering the Vienna fin-de-siècle as a backdrop, female is presented here through Electra, a mythical heroine. In Hofmannsthal's homonymous play, she represents not only strengthening as the woman's own destruction. Este artigo tem por objetivo investigar a correlação de pensamento entre três importantes nomes da segunda metade do século XIX – Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud e Hugo von Hofmannsthal – que se debruçaram sobre as crises da identidade masculina frente ao retorno do matriarcado. Tendo a Viena fin-de-siècle como cenário, o feminino é apresentado aqui por intermédio de Electra, que no texto homônimo de Hofmannsthal representa não só o fortalecimento como a própria destruição da mulher.

    The objective of this text is to analyze the stranger's experience in the novel "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge" by Rainer Maria Rilke through new interpretation perspectives based, for example, on Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theories. Living in a foreign metropolis (Paris), which he does not identify with yet, the novel's protagonist, Malte Laurids Brigge, discovers a new inner world through his shock with stranger's experiences in this environment. The revelation of his childhood memories and his ego projection through readings of narratives by others are his methods to search and assert his identity. O objetivo deste texto é analisar a experiência do estranho no romance "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge", de Rainer Maria Rilke, através de novas perspectivas de interpretação apoiadas, por exemplo, nas teorias psicanalíticas de Sigmund Freud. Vivendo em uma cidade estrangeira (Paris), com a qual ainda não se identifica, o protagonista do romance, Malte Laurids Brigge, descobre um mundo interior novo através de seu choque com experiências do estranho nesse milieu. A revelação de recordações de sua infância e a projeção de seu ego em leituras de narrativas alheias são seus métodos para buscar e afirmar sua identidade.

    This article approaches the ambivalent relations between Musil and Freud. It proceeds in three sections. The first analises the spontaneous psychoanalytical intuitions Musil exposes in his first novel, "The confusions of young Törless". The psychological insights of the novelist accompany and also anticipate the discoveries of the father of psychoanalysis. The second section exposes the seminal studies of Corino and Henninger (among other authors) who see Musil's reserved attitude towards Freud as a symptomatic resistence and interpret the unconscious determination of his work. The third exposes other reasons (aesthetic and theoretical arguments) which explain the author's reluctance, without excluding the resistencetheory. ... Este artigo sobre as relações ambivalentes entre Musil e Freud procede em três etapas. Na primeira, analisamos as intuições psicanalíticas de Musil no seu primeiro romance, "O jovem Törless". Os 'insights' psicológicos do romancista acompanham e antecipam as descobertas clínicas do pai da Psicanálise. A segunda se debruça sobre os trabalhos seminais (Corino, Henninger, entre outros) que veem as reservas de Musil diante de Freud como resistências sintomáticas e evidenciam a determinação inconsciente de sua obra. A terceira expõe outras razões (estéticas e teóricas) para a reserva do artista. Estas não excluem, mas se adicionam às resistências sintomáticas. ...

    The objective of this paper is to make a reading of conceptual elements present in the Freudian view on poetry and literature, pointing out its problematic aspects, but also the relevant ones to the analysis of the aesthetic phenomenon. Initially, we review briefly the significant points in the tradition of critical comments on Freudian aesthetic reflections, then comment on the text "Creative Writers and Day-Dreaming" (1908), in which we employ the comparison with themes and concepts in the "Poetics" of Aristotle and in the "Critique of Judgment" of Kant. In the last part we opposed some of the concepts presented in this first text to the article "The Uncanny" (1919), where we propose a reading that makes a contrast of the role and importance given to the aesthetic dimension in both texts. ... O objetivo do texto é fazer uma leitura de elementos conceituais presentes na concepção freudiana sobre a poesia e a literatura, apontando aspectos problemáticos, como também os que se mostram pertinentes para análise do fenômeno estético. Inicialmente, passamos brevemente em revista pontos significativos de comentários críticos às reflexes estéticas freudianas da tradição, passando então a comentar o texto "Der Dichter und das Phantasieren" (1908), em que nos serviremos da comparação com temas e conceitos presents na "Poética" de Aristóteles e na "Kritik der Urteilskraft" de Kant. Na última parte, contrapomos alguns conceitos presentes neste primeiro texto ao artigo "Das Unheimliche" (1919), em que propomos uma leitura que faz contrastar o papel e importância conferidos à dimensão estética em ambos os textos. ...

    "O crime do professor de matemática", by Clarice Lispector, addresses the unconscious need for punishment arising from the feeling of guilt, which is an inexorable element of the human psyche. The man's mirroring in his pet leads him to an approximation of a possible awareness of this disorder, which culminates in the unavoidable abandonment of the dog. Based on Sigmund Freud's essays "Das Unheimliche" and "Das Unbehagen in der Kultur", we aim at understanding the origin of the doleful identification between these two characters in the narrated story, as well as the corollary of the culture that is responsible for the human sadness which the teacher is inevitably part of "O crime do professor de Matemática", de Clarice Lispector, aborda a necessidade inconsciente de punição advinda do sentimento de culpa, que constitui elemento inexorável da psique humana. O espelhamento do homem em seu animal o conduz à aproximação de uma possível consciência deste transtorno, fato que culmina no irremissível abandono do cão. Com base nos ensaios "O estranho" e "O mal–estar na civilização", de Sigmund Freud, almeja–se entender a origem da dolente identificação entre estes dois personagens narrada no conto, bem como o corolário da cultura, responsável pela tristeza humana com a qual o professor irremediavelmente se coaduna.
