    I. S. Turgenev's predilection for the use of quotes, but also for allusions to other arts, such as painting or music, is not to be overlooked. Recent research has repeatedly pointed to the intertextuality of Turgenev. The novella "Faust" and the sketch "Gamlet Ščigrovskogo uezda" from the cycle "Zapiski ochotnika" are suitable objects of investigation inasmuch as they have significant similarities both in their intertextuality and in the structure of the text. The parallels begin with the clear marking of the intertextual reference in the title and range from similarities in the narrative form to thematic and argumentative equivalences. I. S. Turgenev's Vorliebe für die Verwendung von Zitaten, aber auch für Anspielungen auf andere Künste, etwa Malerei oder Musik, ist nicht zu übersehen. In der neueren Forschung ist wiederholt auf die Intertextualität bei Turgenev hingewiesen worden. Die Novelle "Faust" und die Skizze "Gamlet Ščigrovskogo uezda" aus dem Zyklus "Zapiski ochotnika" sind insofern geeignete Untersuchungsobjekte, als sie sowohl hinsichtlich ihrer Intertextualität als auch in der Textstruktur überhaupt deutliche Ähnlichkeiten aufweisen. Die Parallelen beginnen bei der eindeutigen Markierung des intertextuellen Bezuges im Titel und reichen über Gemeinsamkeiten in der Erzählform bis hin zu thematischen und argumentativen Äquivalenzen.

    Jurij Trifonov's last great novel "Vremja i mesta", understood by the author to be his most important work, outlines in the experience of epic figures a contemporary historical period: Moscow, in the period from August 1937 to early 1980. Trifonov saw it as the most important task of literature as well as his personally most important task as a writer, "to represent the phenomenon of life and the phenomenon of time". Jurij Trifonovs letzter großer Roman "Vremja i mesta", vom Autor selbst als sein bedeutendstes Werk verstanden, skizziert im Erleben epischer Figuren eine zeitgeschichtliche Epoche: Moskau, in der Zeit vom August 1937 bis Anfang 1980. Trifonov sah es als die wichtigste Aufgabe der Literatur wie auch als seine persönlich wichtigste Aufgabe als Schriftsteller an, "das Phänomen Leben und das Phänomen Zeit darzustellen".

Im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit steht die Prosa des Leningrader Spätavantgardisten Konstantin Vaginov(1899- 1934). Andrej Belyjs Roman "Peterburg" führt dem Leser einen positivistischen Vater, einen neukantianischen Sohn und einen Revolutionär mit Nietzsche-Vergangenheit vor. The series includes monographs, anthologies and textbooks covering all areas of Slavic, Linguistics, Literary and Cultural Studies. In linguistics, both linguistic and innovative works on pragmatics and semantics, slavic minor languages ​​and discourse linguistics are published. In literary and cultural studies, one of the areas of special interest is Russian philosophy. The constructivist stage sets and costumes by Aleksandra Ékster helped him to the predicate "extraordinary". Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte der jungen sowjetischen Kinematographie versprach ein Film die Kombination von zeitgenössischem Großstadtleben und Science-Fiction-Abenteuer auf dem Mars. Bis heute setzen sich in Filmwissenschaft und Filmkritik der Ruhm und die Kontroverse um diesen Film fort.     The present work is dedicated to the study of the artistic work of the Russian poet Konstantin Michajlovič Fofanov (1862 - 1911). He was one of the best-known, if not the most famous and beloved poets in Russia in the eighties. The oeuvre Fofanovs may also claim an interest in being examined in a monographic representation, since the poet was not only a fashionable mass author, but was also regarded as pioneer and appreciated by more important, especially symbolist poets. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist der Untersuchung des künstlerischen Werks des russischen Dichters Konstantin Michajlovič Fofanov (1862 - 1911) gewidmet. Er war in den achtziger Jahren einer der bekanntesten, wenn nicht der bekannteste und beliebteste Dichter in Rußland. Das Oeuvre Fofanovs darf darüber hinaus auch deshalb ein Interesse beanspruchen, in einer monographischen Darstellung untersucht zu werden, da der Dichter nicht nur modischer Massenautor war, sondern auch von bedeutenderen, insbesondere symbolistischen Dichtern als Wegbereiter angesehen und geschätzt wurde.

    Subject of this essay is the investigation of the relationship between music and poetry in the poetry of Pasternak. In the main part then the meaning of music in Pasternak's poetry is to be examined in a double sense - on technical-stylistic and on motivic level, where in the first area in addition to the formative means of poetry (such as metric, rhyming and stanza forms) and certain methods of special coupling be analyzed by sound and meaning. The second part of the main part, in addition to the "real" music history in Pasternak's poetry (such as the mention of composer names and musical instruments), includes the study of literary leitmotifs associated with music, such as birds, wind, water, sound and silence Thema dieser Abhandlung ist die Untersuchung der Bezüge zwischen Musik und Dichtung in der Lyrik Pasternaks. Im Hauptteil soll sodann die Bedeutung der Musik in Pasternaks Lyrik in doppeltem Sinne untersucht werden - auf verstechnisch-stilistischer und auf motivischer Ebene, wobei im ersten Bereich neben den Formmitteln der Lyrik (wie Metrik, Reim- und Strophenformen) auch bestimmte Verfahren der besonderen Koppelung von Laut und Bedeutung analysiert werden. Der zweite Bereich des Hauptteils umfaßt neben der "realen" Musikgeschichte in Pasternaks Lyrik (etwa der Erwähnung von Komponistennamen und Musikinstrumenten) vor allem die Untersuchung literarischer Leitmotive, die mit der Musik in Verbindung stehen, wie insbesondere Vögel, Wind, Wasser, Klang und Stille.

    The progressive development of literature from the middle of the 17th century to A. S. Pushkin is essentially determined by the sections of the political and intellectual history of Russia. The poet personalities featured in this volume are each classified in the period in which the main weight of their action lies. In the selection of texts balanced all genres, including journalistic and literary theoretical, were considered, depending on the relevance of the works for the process of progressive enlightenment and bourgeois (feudalism and absolutism criticism, human rights, humanism and other bourgeois ideals) as well as for the artistic Mature of Russian literature. Die fortschreitende Literaturentwicklung von der Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts bis A. S. Puschkin wird wesentlich durch die Abschnitte der politischen und Geistesgeschichte Russlands bestimmt. Die in diesem Band vorgestellten Dichterpersönlichkeiten sind jeweils in den Zeitabschnitt eingeordnet, in dem das Hauptgewicht ihres Wirkens liegt. In der Auswahl der Texte wurden ausgewogen alle Genres, einschließlich publizistischer und literaturtheoretischer, berücksichtigt, je nach der Relevanz der Werke für den Prozess der fortschreitenden Aufklärung und Verbürgerlichung (Feudalismus- und Absolutismuskritik, Menschenrechte, Humanismus und andere bürgerliche Ideale) als auch für das künstlerische Reifen der russischen Literatur.

    The study provides an overview of one of the most intensive phases of German-Polish literature exchange before the reciprocal contacts promoted by Poland until the mid-19th century, not least due to political reasons. The German-Polish literature relations have enjoyed quite a lot of interest in the last decades. However, the previous research concentrates on the one hand cultural-historical, the narrower literary area often far-reaching aspects, such as studies on the echo of the Polish uprisings in Germany, on the other hand on the reception of the work of individual personalities. The present work seeks to close some of the previous gaps by presenting the Polish-German literary relations of that time in their entirety in a condensed overview, focused on the respective literature reception in the form of translations and journalistic reactions under the broadest possible evaluation of German and Polish periodicals. Die Studie bietet einen Überblick über eine der intensivsten Phasen des deutsch-polnischen Literaturaustauschs, bevor sich die bis dahin überwiegend von Polen selbst beförderten gegenseitigen Kontakte um die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts nicht zuletzt aus politischen Gründen reduzierten. Die deutsch-polnischen Literaturbeziehungen erfreuten sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten eines recht regen Fachinteresses. Allerdings konzentriert sich die bisherige Forschung einerseits auf kulturhistorische, den engeren literarischen Bereich oft weit überschreitende Aspekte, so in Studien zum Echo der polnischen Aufstände in Deutschland, andererseits auf die Rezeption des Werkes einzelner Persönlichkeiten. Die vorliegende Arbeit möchte einige der bisherigen Lücken schließen, indem sie die polnisch-deutschen Literaturbeziehungen jener Zeit in ihrer Gesamtheit in einem gedrängten Überblick darstellt, konzentriert auf die jeweilige Literaturrezeption in Form von Übersetzungen und publizistischen Reaktionen unter möglichst umfassender Auswertung deutscher wie polnischer Periodika.

Bondarko is based, which is undoubtedly suitable, with particular attention to the grammatical categories, but also the relevant factual links (i.e., morphological and syntactic categories) to prepare the material for the acquisition of the foreign language Russian onomasiologisch. Such an approach, an essential component of a so-called active grammar, is needed to complement the semasiological approach, which is still often in the foreground. Die Bedeutung des Lehrwerkes liegt darin, daß es auf einem ausgereiften theoretischen Ansatz, der " Petersburger" funktionalen Grammatik, die maßgeblich mit dem Namen von A.V. Bondarko verbunden ist, beruht, der ohne jeden Zweifel geignet ist, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der grammatischen Kategorien, aber auch der relevanten Aussagenverknüpfungen (d.h. morphologischer und syntaktischer Kategorien), das Material für den Erwerb der Fremdsprache Russisch onomasiologisch aufzubereiten.     Actors and actresses play characters such as the embittered Medea, or the lovelorn Romeo, or the grieving and tearful Hecabe. The theatre audience holds its breath, and then sparks begin to fly. But what about the actor? Has he been affected by the emotions of the character he is playing? What's going on inside his mind? The styling of emotions in the theatre has been the subject of heated debate for centuries. In fact, Diderot in his Paradoxe sur le comedien, insisted that most brilliant actors do not feel anything onstage. This greatly resembles the detached acting style associated with Bertolt Brecht, which, in turn, stands in direct opposition to the notion of the empathy-oriented "emotional reality" of the actor which is most famously associated with the American actingstyle known as method acting. The book's survey of the various dominant acting styles is followed by an analysis of the current state of affairs regarding the psychology of emotions. By uniting the psychology of emotions with contemporary acting theories, the author is able to come to the conclusion that traditional acting theories are no longer valid for today's actor. Acting Emotions throws new light on the age-old issue of double consciousness, the paradox of the actor who must nightly express emotions while creating the illusion of spontaneity. In addition, the book bridges the gap between theory and practice by virtue of the author's large-scale field study of the emotions of professional actors. In Acting Emotions, the responses of Dutch and Flemish actors is further supplemented by the responses of a good number of American actors. The book offers a unique view of how actors act out emotions and how this acting out is intimately linked to the development of contemporary theatre.

    The Dutch film maker Joris Ivens (1898-1989) was one of the founding fathers of documentary film. The career of this eternal traveller spanned over sixty years, from his first film in the twenties to his last, finished at the age of ninety. Among Ivens's friends and collaborators were leading filmmakers and actors like Eisenstein, Pudovkin, Dovzhenko, Chaplin, Milestone, Capra, Losey, Flaherty, Grierson, De Santis, the Taviani brothers, Signoret, Montand and Marker. In his early years Joris Ivens was a prominent figure in the international film avant-garde. From the thirties onwards he became, according to American film historian Robert Sklar, 'the most important political filmmaker of the decade, probably of the century'. His films on Soviet socialism, the Spanish Civil War, the Indonesian struggle for independence, the Vietnam-war and the Cuban and Chinese revolutions, make him a subject of controversy in any debate on the relationship between art and propaganda. Hans Schoots has based his biography on new research of Ivens complete filmwork and of unknown production-documents, personal letters and diaries, found in many archives, such as Ivens's FBI-dossier and State Archives in Moscow and former Eastern-Berlin. Artistic and political milieus in Amsterdam, Berlin, Moscow, New York, Hollywood, Paris, Havana, Hanoi and Beijing provide the background of this fascinating life-story.     This book examines the interplay of history, textuality, dramaturgy, and politics in the school dramas of Daniel Casper von Lohenstein (1635–1683). The plays are based on well-known episodes from classical Roman history and were staged in Breslau by students at two all-male humanistic gymnasia. Organized exclusively around stories of such female protagonists as Agrippina, Cleopatra, Epicharis, and Sophonisbe, these productions required that the young actors dress as women to play roles that routinely involved scenes of political intrigue, incest, seduction, torture, and threatened infanticide. In print these plays were accompanied by massive annotational apparatuses that delineate the contours of the learned universe of eastern central Europe in exacting detail. Newman's study sheds light on the ideological complexity of gender, politics, and learned culture in the early modern period as it emerges from these intriguing and often bizarre plays.

    German Poetic Realists drew on the Romantic motif of the Double in a manner consistent with the central dictum of Poetic Realism as articulated by its chief theorists, Julian Schmidt and Otto Ludwig. Schmidt and Ludwig argued that contemporary authors should, above all, strive for psychological and aesthetic totality in their narrative representations, turning away from the Romantic fantastic but also avoiding the fragmentary approach to the portrayal of everyday life that Ludwig found in early Naturalism. The 'poetic' presentation of reality adheres to quotidian life but strives to show it in all its many dimensions. While Romantic Doppelgänger are often preternatural figures, the Poetic Realists configure egos and their narrative Others ('alter egos,' who are also sometimes physical Doubles) to portray characters in their psychological comprehensiveness. After offering an overview of the Romantic Double motif and its connections to the theory of Poetic Realism, John Pizer analyzes the work of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Otto Ludwig, Conrad Ferdinand Meyer, Gottfried Keller, Theodor Storm, and Wilhelm Raabe.

    This study of German fiction about America in the nineteenth century concentrates in detail on three writers: Charles Sealsfield (Carl Postl, 1793–1864), an escaped Moravian monk who came to New Orleans in 1823 and wrote the first major German novels about the United States; Friedrich Gerstäcker (1816–1872), who, among his many experiences in America as a young man, lived as a backwoodsman in Arkansas and who later produced a large body of fiction, travel reportage, and emigration advice; and Karl May (1842–1912), who, though he knew nothing about America beyond what he could read in books, wrote famous adventure stories set in an imaginary West and became the best-selling writer in the German language. Sammons provides biographies of the authors and discusses how each differs in their mimetic and ideological approach. He pays particular attention to how the authors address issues of race, gender and politics in the United States. Sammons interweaves his discussion of these three writers with excurses into the emergence of the German Western and anti-Americanism in German fiction.

The first part of this study on the results of this view of literature is concerned both with the relevant German, French, and English criticism of the novel and the use of literature as a frame of reference in the poetry, drama, and prose writings of the day. The second part analyzes seven novels (among them Goethe's "Werther" and "Meister") whose heroes were profoundly influenced by literature.     The focus of the following work is the Russian author N.M. Karamzin (1766-1826), who is still known in Russia today for his sentimentalist narrative "Bednaja Liza" and the twelve-volume "Istorija gosudarstva rossijskogo". At the end of the 18th and in the first third of the 19th century, at the time of their creation, his works were widely read, Karamzin, as a sentimentalist writer as well as a historiographer, had some success in the contemporary reading public. The work is chronological, beginning with Karamzin's early work, Pisma Russkogo putešestvennika (1791-92), then examining a selection of sentimentalist narratives that appeared in the period 1792-1803 and ending with Istorija gosudarstva rossijskogo ", whose first eight volumes were published in 1818. Examined are the different discourses, which are assigned to the text categories travel writing, sentimentalistische povest 'and historiography, and others. in terms of narrative linkage. Im Mittelpunkt der folgenden Arbeit steht der russische Autor N.M. Karamzin (1766-1826), der heute in Rußland noch durch seine sentimentalistische Erzählung "Bednaja Liza" sowie die zwölfbändige "Istorija gosudarstva rossijskogo" bekannt ist. Ende des 18. und im ersten Drittel des 19. Jahrhunderts, zur Zeit ihres Entstehens, wurden seine Werke viel gelesen, hatte Karamzin sowohl als sentimentalistischer Schriftsteller wie als Historiograph einigen Erfolg beim zeitgenössischen Lesepublikum. Die Arbeit geht chronologisch vor, sie beginnt mit dem Frühwerk Karamzins, den "Pisma russkogo putešestvennika" (1791-92), untersucht dann eine Auswahl der sentimentalistischen Erzählungen, die in der Zeit von 1792-1803 erschienen, und endet mit der "Istorija gosudarstva rossijskogo" , deren erste acht Bände 1818 veröffentlicht wurden.
