    This paper aims to analyze the novel "Imperium" by Christian Kracht (2012) within the long tradition of self-enactments of writers and artists in general as a constitutive element of the aesthetic field. Concerning Kracht, this is done first in the narrative text itself as a literary enactment with all its facets and second in Kracht's bewildering media appearances where his literary writings, in itself dubious, are once more rearranged, put in doubt or enriched. This procedure thus generates uncertainties, ambiguities and disfigurements that are the hallmark of Kracht in the contemporary literary universe. ; O artigo objetiva abordar o romance "Imperium" de Christian Kracht (2012) dentro da longa tradição estética de autoencenações de escritores e artistas em geral. No caso de Kracht, isso é feito inicialmente a partir do próprio texto narrativo como encenação literária em todas as suas facetas e, em seguida, a partir de suas desconcertantes aparições mediáticas, em que seus escritos literários, já de per si dúbios, são rearranjados, questionados ou enriquecidos. Geram-se assim incertezas, ambiguidades e desfigurações que são a marca registrada de Kracht no universo literário atual.

    Raising the public administration's efficiency is, without any doubt, one of the greatest challenges nowadays in Brazil. The State's technical and allocative efficiency dimensions necessarily require efficiency of public agencies in the acquisition of inputs for their production and supply functions of public goods and services to the population. However, unlike private firms, the State generally follows stricter criteria in selecting suppliers and pricing their purchases, as their purchases must abide to such criteria as impartiality, equality and publicity, and must follow strict legal rules. The Brazilian public procurement legislation is now 21 years old and shows clear signs of exhaustion the main Public Procurement Act is both too detailed and outdated with respect to the best practices. The institutional framework and human capital involved should also be reviewed and strengthened. Invited by the Brazilian Senate to contribute to the reform of this institutional framework, IPEA submitted proposals that are exposed here in greater depth of analysis and with a better grounding based on sound economic theory and evidence and on a broad international benchmarking of institutional frameworks. They can be summarized as follows: i) consolidation of the multiple laws existing today in one piece of legislation; ii) creation of normative and executive agencies for public procurement, with appropriate personal career profiles and equipped with adequate incentives; iii) gradual transition of the current regulation of bidding formats and other rules to the new normative agency regulations.

    Among the economic activities in Brazil's Midwest region, agriculture has an important role in the regional economy, with the aim of this study to evaluate the recent situation of regional agriculture in order to identify constraints and opportunities for development and discuss actions that may contribute to the expansion of regional production. A region that increased its participation in national agricultural GDP, from 7.4% in 1970 to 19.5% in 2009, demonstrated in the recent past that it has favorable conditions for agricultural economically profitable exploitation. Several factors, however, are often mentioned as potential barriers to the development of agriculture in the region, including environmental issues, disability logistics, technological backwardness, lack of credit, lack of technical assistance, among others. For this competitiviness to continue and possibly even increase, many investments are needed, especially in improving the transportation infrastructure for transport of produce to consumer centers.

Based on this diagnosis, the study aims to identify constraints to agricultural development in the region and discuss measures that can contribute to the expansion of regional agricultural production with the generation of jobs and income for the population. Among these may be mentioned some measures: improvement in logistics infrastructure; social development of rural areas through mechanisms of generating income for family farmers; the agricultural research in the region needs to provide solutions for further development of farming; promotion of productive associations, among others.

    Brazilian agriculture developed significantly over the last decades, transforming Brazil in one of the World's major agricultural and livestock producer. Specifically, the Southern Region, object of this study, in 2006 accounted for approximately 28.8% of the value of agricultural production (IBGE, 2009). This significant participation (lower only than the Southeast region) can be explained by the presence of some of the largest agricultural supply chains in the region such as soybean and corn grains. This study's objective is to evaluate the Southern region's recent agricultural situation based on data from the 2006 Brazilian Agricultural Census. Based on this diagnosis, the study aims to identify limitations and discuss challenges to future agricultural development in the region. The study identified that regional agricultural production benefits from an overall better environment for the development of their activities compared to other Brazilian Regions. For this competitive edge to continue and possibly even increase, many investments are needed, such as improved transportation infrastructure.

    The aerospace sector is highly strategic and symbolizes the economic, technological and geopolitical power of a country. In order to develop "national champions", China has developed policies and strategies for various industries. Thus, while these policies successful, it was possible to notice an acceleration in production, employment and international trade. The accelerated Chinese aerospace development is related to its intention to develop industries with high technological intensity, which has been strongly present in development plans since the end of the 70's. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the development policies of the Chinese space and aviation industry from the 1950s to the prospects for the coming years, emphasizing the Made in China 2025 (MIC25) Development Plans and the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), as well as identifying their positioning current in this sector. The findings show China has achieved impressive results in the sector, especially in the space industry, as advances have occurred to a lesser extent in the aviation segment. The aerospace sector remains a key area in the 14th Five-Year Plan, mainly through investments in research and development and financial support from the State, suggesting greater achievements in the future.
