    Friedrich Gerstäcker foi um viajante e escritor alemão. Nasceu em Hamburgo em 1816 e dedicou sua vida a explorar as colônias do novo mundo, escrevendo diversas obras com foco principal na imigração alemã durante o século XIX e nas consequências desse movimento para o povo alemão. Antes de iniciar sua carreira como escritor, Gerstäcker viajou pelas Américas e por diversos outros países, conheceu de perto a vida dos imigrantes e viu na sua escrita uma forma de colaborar para a divulgação de informações acerca das questões envolvidas no processo de imigração. A coletânea de suas obras compreende mais de quarenta volumes; somente sobre a imigração alemã no Brasil, escreveu três obras − todas publicadas na Alemanha na década de sessenta do século XIX. Contudo, só muito recentemente uma dessas obras foi traduzida para o português e publicada no Brasil. Neste trabalho, pretendemos destacar a importância desse autor dentro do polissistema literário brasileiro e discutir os motivos e as possíveis consequências do seu esquecimento.

    Abstract: This article aims on reflecting on the teaching process of the English language in Brazil starting from a perspective that contemplates the sociocultural factors and also the linguistic factors that might influence the learning of a foreign language. Weinreich, Labov and Herzog (2006 [1968]) see any linguistic changes as the result of a process of linguistic fit between variables internal to the linguistic system and those external to it (i.e. socioeconomic factors). Issues such as the Brazilian basic education system, proficiency evaluation, use of English with other speakers, and literacy issues can be considered as extralinguistic factors (external to the language, but which exert influence in it) that along with linguistic system factors, such as Interlanguage, can lead Brazilian speakers to develop a "Brazilian English" (in comparison toterms known as "British English" or "American English"), or to use this language as "lingua franca", to ensure that the purpose of any message

    Abstract: Portuguese Language teaching has faced sustained challenges which address both theoretical and methodological issues towards its practice. Such issues refer to significant practices that provide pupils with a responsive language action. In this context, this paper aims to highlight misspellings which entail the interference of oral language into the writing of second year high school students. For this purpose, we seek to answer the following questions: what are the influences/marks of oral language in written texts of high school students? And how to handle these influences and reverse them according to the grammars of Standard Portuguese? Thus, in order to answer these questions, we support our discussion in light of the works of Marcuschi (2008; 2010); Fávero, et al. (2000); Kato (2002); Bortoni-Ricardo (2004; 2005).     Empreende-se aqui uma leitura de Viagem à Itália, de Goethe, menos como uma obra autobiográfica do que como uma das muitas narrativas enciclopédicas do autor, em que relatos de diferentes dicções e propósitos são reunidos sob motivos e sugestões comuns. Aqui, busca-se identificar esse fio condutor sob a percepção goethiana das formas. Sob o termo, entendemos tanto as formas naturais quanto artísticas, assim como os objetos e ritos da religião católica, trazidas pela experiência italiana. ; Goethe's Journey to Italy is here understood less as an autobiography than as an encyclopedic work of art. Here we can see many different speeches and goals reunited under common suggestions and themes, without a clear articulating line. This article intends to identify Goethe's reception of natural and artistic forms during his stay in Italy as a possible guideline for this work.

    Neste artigo se investiga a linguagem do poema satírico "Atta Troll - ein Sommernachtstraum" (Atta Troll - sonho de uma noite de verão), escrito em 1841 por Heinrich Heine. A investigação se volta a dois aspectos profundamente entrelaçados preponderantes no poema, que suscitam este estudo literário: primeiramente a exigência do poeta, a qual percorre o longo poema como Leitmotiv, de uma arte sem fins, sem influências de motivações morais, religiosas ou políticas, fundamentada em leis próprias, emergente da noção do belo, e cujos fins estejam inerentes na arte mesma. O segundo viés que se releva no poema é a relação metafórica da poesia com a dança, arte essa que em suas diversas manifestações formais e informais é observada por um crivo rigoroso ao longo do poema. A partir desses dois aspectos se indicia através de trechos traduzidos ao português afinidades importantes dessa literatura, que tanto se inclina ao romantismo, quanto à passagem para a modernidade, a cujas transformações ela aponta quando aborda questões sobre estética e sobre o papel do poeta. ; This paper proposes an investigation into the language of the satiric poem "Atta Troll - ein Sommernachtstraum" (Atta Troll - sonho de uma noite de verão), composed by Heinrich Heine in 1841. Two deeply woven aspects stand out in the poem and motivate this literary research: first the poet’s requirement, which runs throughout the lengthy poem as a Leitmotiv, asking for an art without moral, religious or political influences, based on its own laws, emerging from the notion of beauty, and whose reasons are inherent in themselves. The second perspective that the poem reveals is the metaphoric relationship of poetry and dance, the art form in its various manifestations both formal and informal, which are observed with strict scrutiny throughout the poem.     Para obter informações sobre os processos de pós-edição (PE) e tomada de decisão no par linguístico alemão/português, este trabalho apresenta os resultados de um estudo experimental de PE das partículas modais alemãs (PMs) doch e wohl para o português brasileiro. As PMs são elementos linguísticos que apresentam dificuldades de tradução e PE, pois são diretamente dependentes do contexto em que operam. Com a intenção de investigar o esforço cognitivo despendido no processamento das PMs em tarefas de PE, foram utilizados três instrumentos de pesquisa: o programa Translog-II; o rastreador ocular Tobii T60; relatos retrospectivos (livre e guiado). Para a realização do experimento, 20 participantes brasileiros pós-editaram cinco insumos de tradução automática para o português com as PMs doch e wohl. Os resultados corroboram a suposição de GUTT (1998) e os resultados da análise processual conduzida por ALVES (2007), que revelam que a relação entre esforço e efeito não acontece com base em uma associação de proporção direta. Portanto, a análise do processamento das PMs em tarefas de PE demonstra que, em ambientes cognitivos diferenciados, a capacidade de metarrepresentação tem implicações distintas na atribuição do mínimo esforço cognitivo necessário para se alcançar um determinado efeito contextual. ; German Modal Particles (MPs) are linguistic elements that pose severe difficulties for the translation and post-editing processes. One of the major reasons for such hindrance is the context-dependence function of the MP. This work is an effort to collect relevant information about the translation and decision-making processes in the German/Portuguese language pair.     A motivação do aluno é apontada como central para que o processo de aprendizagem ocorra de forma satisfatória e, por essa razão, muitos professores buscam constantemente o aprimoramento de suas práticas. Neste trabalho buscamos lançar luzes sobre um projeto de multiletramentos, que consistiu na produção de um videoclipe, e que teve como objetivo aumentar a motivação dos alunos de alemão de um Centro de Estudo de Línguas de uma escola pública do interior paulista. Para apoiar as nossas reflexões, buscamos sustentação teórica prioritariamente nos conceitos de motivação (DÖRNYEI 1994, 2001, 2014; VALLERAND 1997 e outros) e de multiletramentos (ROJO 2012, 2013). A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, desenvolveu-se a partir de dados coletados com alunos do Ensino Fundamental II e Médio de um Centro de Estudo de Línguas do interior de São Paulo durante o ano de 2015. Os resultados apontam para o grande impacto de projetos de multiletramentos na motivação dos alunos. ; The student's motivation is identified as central to a satisfactory learning process and, for this reason, many teachers are constantly engaged in improving their practices. In this work we aim to shed light on a multiliteracies project, which involved the production of a video clip and aimed to increase motivation of German students in a Language Study Center at a public school in the State of São Paulo. To support our reflections, we sought theoretical support primarily on the concepts of motivation (DÖRNYEI 1994, 2001, 2014; VALLERAND 1997 and others) and multiliteracies (ROJO 2012, 2013). The research, of a qualitative nature, was developed from data collected with secondary and high school students in a Language Study Centre in the State of São Paulo during 2015. The results show the great impact of multiliteracies projects in student's motivation.

    O presente artigo tem como objetivo revisitar a discussão acerca do conceito de autenticidade no ensino de línguas estrangeiras por autores de grande relevância em língua alemã e inglesa, e também nas pesquisas em âmbito nacional, enfatizando o papel da autenticidade de materiais. Os autores de língua alemã pesquisados defendem uma concepção de autenticidade de materiais ligada às marcas de gênero textual, que abrange também textos adaptados para o ensino.Os autores de língua inglesa, por sua vez, problematizam a valorização da autenticidade de materiais no ensino e interpretam o conceito de autenticidade de forma mais ampla, denominando autênticas também as interações entre os aprendizes, o contexto de sala de aula, etc., dando menos foco à questão dos materiais. No Brasil, houve forte influência dos autores de língua inglesa, porém, pesquisas que abordam o uso de materiais autênticos continuam tendo força. Desta forma, percebe-se a coexistência de diversas visões de autenticidade, inclusive de materiais, levando a um esvaziamento do conceito, o que pode ter contribuído para a redução no número de textos autênticos em livros didáticos de alemão como língua estrangeira. Entendendo que a dicotomia autêntico/não-autêntico não abrange adequadamente os textos encontrados em livros didáticos atuais, propõe-se uma tipologia mais gradativa (baseada em BROWN e MENASCHE, 2010) para uma análise mais detalhada desses materiais. ; This article aims to revisit the discussion about the concept of authenticity in the teaching of foreign languages by authors of great relevance in German and English, as well as in Brazil, emphasizing the role of authenticity of materials.     Aproximadamente cinquenta universidades brasileiras possuem algum tipo de estudo de Língua Alemã, sendo que dezessete delas oferecem a graduação em Letras com habilitação em Alemão, bacharelado ou licenciatura. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as crenças e ex-pectativas dos estudantes de Letras/Alemão a respeito do curso que frequentam, a partir da rea-lização de uma investigação em uma universidade pública do Estado do Paraná, em 2016. Com base em um questionário respondido por 18 alunos do Curso de Letras desta instituição, busca-mosidentificar os motivos que os levaram a optar pela licenciatura em Letras/Alemão e suas perspectivas de desenvolvimento profissional. A fundamentação teórica advém da perspectiva dos estudos de crenças discentes (SILVA 2007; BARCELOS2001), mais especificamente dos es-tudos de crenças de alunos acerca da aprendizagem de línguas estrangeiras. A metodologia da pesquisa corresponde a um paradigma híbrido (KUCKARTZ 2014, 2016 e MAYRING 2015), com características de pesquisa qualitativa e quantitativa. Como resultado da pesquisa, entre outros aspectos, observou-se que a maioria dos alunos optou pelo curso de Letras/Alemão como forma de aprender essa língua e no futuro atuarem profissionalmente nessa área, seja no campo da Linguística, da Literatura ou da Tradução. ; About fifty Brazilian universities organize some kind of German language study, of which seventeen offer undergraduate courses in Language Studies with specialization in German, or a bachelor degree in this language.     Da inspiração prometeica do Sturm und Drang à apoteose alegórica do Fausto II, a trajetória de Goethe perfaz um esforço contínuo para salvar e ressignificar a ingenuidade poética ante a exigência histórica de um inaudito antagonismo e autossuficiência individual, conferindo legitimidade ao seu sentimento inato da existência como "zweite Natur". Tal ambivalência induziu mesmo críticos benevolentes de Goethe a encarar seu projeto da Bildung como um momento preliminar e controverso, cujo acento demasiado individualista viria mais tarde a ser definitivamente suplantado pela dedicação às ciências naturais e àmoral da renúncia. Este artigo se propõe mostrar como a Bildung goethiana, corretamente compreendida como "educação para o erro", institui uma relação de continuidade solidária e complementar entre o erro e a maestria, a qual o poeta alemão vai desdobrar e consagrar em três de suas convicções fundamentais: a dos desvios e deformações como possibilidades constitutivas das leis da natureza e de seu legítimo procedimento formativo; da criação poética superior como um "elevar à altura do espírito e tornar eficiente às intenções da Natureza"; e a da primazia dos "poetas-imitadores" sobre sacerdotes e filósofos na apropriação da tradição sob a égide de uma "pura personificação característica". ; From the Promethean inspiration of Sturm und Drang to the allegorical apotheosis of Faust II, Goethe's trajectory makes a continuous effort to save and reframe the poetic naivety before the historical demand of an unheard-of antagonism and individual self-sufficiency, bestowing legitimacy to his innate feeling of existence as "zweite Natur".     O presente artigo objetiva abordar a obra e vida de Karl May, um dos mais bem-sucedidos escritores de língua alemã, sob o aspecto da encenação. Mostra como May mistura lembranças da infância e elementos literários, o desejado e o factual para uma memória encenada, que fornece um sentido mais profundo tanto para sua biografia como para sua obra. Assim, May se recria como homem ideal que consegue em seus romances superar seus problemas com a realidade, um "eu" multifacetado representado por suas diversas personagens literárias e suas aventuras, reclamadas por May como experiências próprias. Se os entrecruzamentos da identidade ficcional e pessoal criados por Karl May marcam a primeira fase de sua produção e se formamem volta do motivo do aprisionamento e da libertação, sua obra tardia se abstém de tais elementos e se dirige a uma reflexão quase filosófica sobre a humanidade e a paz.v ; This article aims to reassess the work and life of Karl May, one of the most successful German-language writers, from the aspect of staging. It shows how May mixes memories of childhood and literary elements, the desired and the factual, for a staged memory that would provide a deeper meaning for both his biography and his work. Thus, May recreated himself as an ideal man who, in his novels, can overcome his problems with reality, a multifaceted "I" represented by his various literary characters and his adventures, claimed by May as his own experiences. If the intersections of fictional and personal identity created by Karl May mark the first phase of his production and its narrative is structured around the motives of imprisonment and liberation, his late work abstracts from such elements and is directed toward a quasi-philosophical reflection on humanity and peace

[Inhaltstext aus den Verlagsangaben: Der große Roman über die Sehnsucht nach Unsterblichkeit. Johanna Mawet ist Molekularbiologin und forscht an Zebrafischen zur Unsterblichkeit von Zellen. Während eines Forschungsaufenthalts in den USA gabelt sie einen merkwürdigen, alterslosen Herrn auf. Je näher sie ihn kennenlernt, desto abstrusere Erfahrungen macht sie mit ihm. Schließlich gibt er sein Geheimnis preis. Er sei der Physiker Johann Wilhelm Ritter, geboren 1776. Starker Tobak für eine Naturwissenschaftlerin von heute.     Este texto busca caracterizar a imagem de pensamento (Denkbild) como um gênero particular de composição que mistura filosofia e literatura, conceito e imagem. O argumento central é o de que, devido às suas peculiaridades formais, a imagem de pensamento possui tanto um forte teor intersubjetivo, quanto a capacidade como de fazer surgir o não-idêntico em experiências cotidianas. Desse combinação surge um tipo de escrita prática, que merece ser recuperada no presente. ; This text strives to characterize the thought-image (Denkbild) as a genre that combines philosophy and literature, concept and image. The main argument therein is that due to its formal peculiarities, the thought-image is endowed with both a strong intersubjetive thrust and the capacity to wrest the non-identical from everyday experiences. From this combination a kind of writing emerges that is intrinsically practical, and which deserves to be recuperated in the present.

    O intuito deste trabalho é destacar a importância do escrito juvenil Traumland para a formação do poeta Georg Trakl, por meio de uma leitura cerrada do texto. Sob a forma de uma lembrança do narrador, esse breve relato apresenta uma experiência de iniciação ou perda da inocência oriunda da percepção do mal no mundo, concentrado na figura de uma prima doente, Maria. O conflito entre o anseio romântico (Sehnsucht) pleno de expectativas e entusiasmo e essa realidade aterradora, vivenciado como uma quebra no sentimento (Stimmung) de harmonia cósmica, impulsiona uma transformação no sentimento e na visão de mundo do protagonista, que metaforicamente pode ser lida como a transição de uma poética puramente romântica para uma poética mais sintonizada com as exigências do século XX, especialmente no sentido da dimensão reconhecida ao mal irremediável, que não pode ser completamente romantizado. ; This paper aims to show the formative importance of the juvenile text Traumland to the poet Georg Trakl through an intense interpretative reading. This brief tale presents - as a recollection of the narrator - an experience of initiation or loss of innocence resulted from the perception of evil in the world, recognized in the sickness of his cousin Maria. The conflict between an enthusiastic and filled with expectancies romantic longing (Sehnsucht) and a terrifying reality which breaks the feeling of a cosmic harmony (Stimmung), drives a transformation in the ways the main character feels and views the world. This change can be metaphorically interpreted as a shift from a purely romantic poetic stance towards a standpoint keener to the XXth century's demands, especially in the sense of the acknowledgment of an unconquerable evil that cannot be fully romanticized.

    A narrativa "Zum wilden Mann" (1874) de Wilhelm Raabe apresenta a história de uma farmácia na província alemã e do seu dono, observando os princípios estilísticos do realismo poético, a tendência literária dominante na segunda metade do século 19 nos países de língua alemã. A despeito da localização no mundo contemporâneo de Raabe e seus leitores, a trama e os protagonistas apresentam traços que remetem à esfera fantástica de pactos demoníacos e homens selvagens. Esses elementos interferem com a esfera realista das relações econômicas entre os protagonistas, baseadas- em empréstimos, juros e o comércio globalizado, e aludem aos aspectos inumanos dos negócios modernos. Divergente da prática cultural geral, Raabe atribui o "selvagem" e o "diabólico" às "conquistas" recentes da civilização que emergem de forma similar na Alemanha e nas antigas colônias. O Brasil traçado pela narrativa, em vez de ser um ambiente exótico, é apenas um outro cenário dos processos industriais e comerciais. ; The narrative "Zum wilden Mann" (1874) by Wilhelm Raabe presents the story of a pharmacy in provincial Germany and its owner; Raabe's story obeys the stylistic principles of Poetic Realism, the literary current that dominated the second half of the 19th century in German speaking countries. Despite being located in contemporary reality of the author and his readers, the plot and its main characters show features that refer to the fantastic realm of demonic pacts and wild men. These elements interfere with the realist economic relations between the protagonists, based on loans, interests, and globalized commerce and allude to the inhuman aspects of modern business. Divergent from main cultural practice, Raabe attributes the "savage" and the "diabolic" to the recent "achievements" of civilization which emerge likewise in Germany and in former colonies. The Brazil described by the narrative, instead of being an exotic setting, is just another stage of industrial and commercial processes.

    O biênio de 2016-2017 marca o duplo centenário da publicação original da Viagem à Itália, de Goethe. Depois de décadas de distância, Goethe finalmente publica esse que seria seu testemunho formativo, a autobiografia de uma transformação radical. A história do texto e da viagem que lhe deu origem revela, porém, que esse enredo não é tão simples e unidirecional, mas está permeado de hesitações e retomadas, cenas míticas e retornos anacrônicos. A intenção desse artigo é mapear, assim, as múltiplas camadas - para usar o modelo geológico de Reinhart Koselleck - de tempo e, principalmente, de extemporaneidade que se entretecem no relato italiano. Pretendemos chamar a atenção para algumas (outras) riquezas da obra goethiana: seu intenso páthos memorativo, sua oposição aos grandes de seu século, sua entronização na literatura alemã, entre outras. ; The biennium 2016-2017 marks the bicentenary of the original publication of Goethe's Italian Journey. After decades, Goethe finally issues the last testimony of his Bildung, the autobiography of a radical transformation. Yet, the history of the text and of the original journey reveals that this story is far from being as simple and unidirectional as it seems, but is imbued with hesitations and retakes, mythical scenes and anachronous returns. This article's aim is to map out the multiple layers - utilizing Reinhart Koselleck's geological model - of time and, mainly, of untimeliness that are interwoven in Goethe's Italian report. We intend to draw attention to some (other) treasures of Goethe‟s work: its strong memorial pathos, its opposition to great men and works of his time, its enthronement in German literature, among others.

    A compreensão histórica de literatura no primeiro romantismo alemão decorre, entre outros aspectos, dos escritos de Winckelmann, Herder, Lessing, assim como da relação dialética entre o clássico e o romântico estabelecida por Goethe e Schiller. Nesse contexto, a aproximação antitética entre o antigo e o romântico tem um papel central na determinação das principais teorias românticas de literatura. O artigo investiga e discute a importância da antinomia entre o antigo e o moderno na constituição e desenvolvimento das teorias literárias de Friedrich Schlegel no primeiro romantismo alemão ; The historical understanding of literature in German Early Romanticism arises, among other things, from the writings of Winckelmann, Herder, Lessing as well as of the dialectical interplay between classic and romantic established by Goethe and Schiller. In this context, the antithetic approximation of ancient and modern plays a central role in the determination of the major romantic theories of literature. This paper investigates and discusses the importance of the antinomy of ancient and modern in the constitution and development of literary theories of Friedrich Schlegel in German Early Romanticism.

    This work is an effort to collect relevant information about the decision making process on the communicative functions of the modal particles (henceforth MP), regarding different contexts. For this purpose, an online questionnaire was developed. For the data collection, sixty-two German native and non-native participants were asked to select from a set of sentences (with or without MPs) which provided the most adequate interpretations for pre-established contexts. The results suggest that native participants were more likely to select the expected options, but the reflections on the decisions taken were challenging for both groups. Therefore, data analysis indicates deficiencies in understanding the function and modal complexity of MPs. Thus, in addition to investigating the decision making process of both groups, we sought to offer tools for teaching MPs in German as a foreign language ; Este trabalho teve a intenção de investigar sobre o processo de tomada de decisão quanto às funções comunicativas das partículas modais (doravante PM), frente a diferentes contextos. Nesse sentido, aplicamos um questionário online em alemão. Para a coleta de dados foi solicitado a 62 participantes alemães nativos e não nativos que selecionassem dentre um conjunto de orações (contendo ou não PMs) as que proporcionariam interpretações adequadas para contextos pré-estabelecidos. Os resultados apontam que os participantes nativos tiveram maior facilidade em selecionar as opções esperadas nas tarefas apresentadas, porém as reflexões sobre as decisões tomadas foram desafiadoras para ambos os grupos. Portanto, a análise de dados indica deficiências na compreensão da função e complexidade modal das PMs. Assim, além de investigar as decisões tomadas pelos dois grupos, procuramos oferecer ferramentas para o ensino das PMs em aulas de alemão.

    Este trabalho apresenta uma análise da alternância dativa do verbo senden da língua alemã. Os pressupostos teóricos da Gramática de Construções postulados por GOLDBERG (1995) no que concerne aos bitransitivos e suas paráfrases preposicionais e a abordagem da sensitividade ao núcleo verbal de RAPPAPORT HOVAV E LEVIN (2008) são comparados e utilizados como ferramenta de análise do corpus.Por meio deles, analisa-se se as construções constituídas pelo verbo senden e o sintagma preposicional an denotam um evento de posse causada ou de movimento causado. Apresentam-se preceitos abordados por Adler (2011) em seus estudos sobre a alternância dativa na língua alemã, que auxiliam na distinção do evento denotado pela construção. Assim, a pesquisa realizada corrobora as reflexões da autora sobre a nova faceta da preposição an que aparece em verbos de transferência - o addressee-an, sustentando sua argumentação sobre o fato de que não são as variantes do objeto duplo (dativo), ou do sintagma preposicional (no caso, an) as responsáveis pelo evento denotado pela construção, mas sim os argumentos que a constituem. Essa pesquisa também propõe outro tipo de classificação para a análise de verbos da língua alemã que denotam eventos de transferência em orações destituídas de agente volitivo: evento causal como transferência (GOLDBERG 1995), no qual X CAUSA Y (AFETADO)A RECEBER Z (EFEITO). ; This work presents an analysis of the dative alternance of the verb senden from German language. The theoretical assumptions from the Construction Grammar postulated by GOLDBERG (1995) regarding the ditransitive and its prepositional paraphrase and a verb-sensitive approach to the dative alternation by RAPPAPORT HOVAVAND LEVIN (2008) are compared and used as a corpus analysis tool.
