Regina Roßbach beantwortet diese Fragen mit einem Modell des Literaturskandals als Kommunikationsphänomen. Wie seine Analyse mit der Interpretation literarischer Texte kombiniert werden kann und wie ein Vergleich verschiedener Literaturskandale gelingt, zeigt sie anhand historischer Literaturskandale um Charles Baudelaires Les Fleurs du Mal, Émile Zolas L’Assommoir, Oscar Wildes The Picture of Dorian Gray, Klaus Manns Mephisto, Salman Rushdies The Satanic Verses und Martin Walsers Friedenspreisrede beziehungsweise seinen Roman Ein springender Brunnen. Biographical note: Regina Roßbach hat Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Buchwissenschaft und Publizistik an der Johannes Gutenberg- Universität Mainz studiert, war dort wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und promovierte im Bereich Komparatistik. Seit 2019 ist sie als Lektorin und Journalistin tätig.

The volume provides an introduction to current developments in Indian English literature and explains general ideas, as well as the specific features and styles of selected writers from this wide spectrum. It addresses students working in this field at university level, and includes thorough reading lists and study questions to encourage students to read, reflect on and write about Indian English literature critically.

    Das vorliegende UTB bietet eine kompakte Einführung in das – vor dem Hintergrund der Globalisierung hochaktuelle – Lehrgebiet der Interkulturellen Literaturwissenschaft. Es zeigt, dass die Reflexion und Inszenierung kultureller Differenz ein zentrales Anliegen der Literatur in Geschichte und Gegenwart darstellt. Nach einer Übersicht über die wichtigsten theoretischen Konzepte interkultureller Literaturwissenschaft kann sich der Leser mit den zentralen Texten und Themen vertraut machen: Goethe und der Orient – Die Erfahrung des Fremden in der europäischen Moderne um 1900 – Postkoloniale Literatur – Deutschtürkische Literatur. Aktuelle Autoren wie Salman Rushdie, Feridun Zaimoglu, Zafer Senocak und Emine Sevgi Özdamar werden dabei besonders ausführlich betrachtet.
