    The Fragment Targums contain selections of verses from the Pentateuch and form a distinct textual family within the Palestinian Targum tradition. To date, our understanding of their textual tradition has been based on nine manuscripts (excluding those copied from printed texts). This article introduces another manuscript of Fragment Targum that has been previously overlooked. The article describes the manuscript’s content, provides a preliminary characterisation of the text’s relationship to the other extant witnesses of the Fragment Targums and the other Pentateuchal Targums, and considers some possible implications of this new witness for our understanding of the origins, purpose, and transmission history of the Fragment Targums.

    Das vorgelegte Briefkorpus enthält die bisher unveröffentlichten Briefe von Martha Hauptmann, geb. Thienemann (1862–1939), Carl Hauptmanns erster Ehefrau, an ihren Ehemann, soweit sie sich bisher auffinden ließen. Bei der Recherche für die Edition sind die Bestände im Carl-Hauptmann-Archiv der Handschriftenabteilung der Universität Wrocław/Breslau, im Archiv der Akademie der Künste in Berlin, im Gerhart-Hauptmann-Museum Erkner, in der Sammlung Carl Hauptmann-Nitsche im Deutschen Literaturarchiv Marbach/N. und im Carl und Gerhart Hauptmann-Haus in Szklarska Poręba/Schreiberhau ausgewertet worden. – Die Briefe Martha Hauptmanns an ihren Ehemann sind eine reiche Quelle von Informationen zu Carl Hauptmanns Leben und Schaffen: u.a. Hauptmanns Entwicklung vom Wissenschaftler zum Dichter, das familiäre Leben, Hauptmanns literarische Tätigkeit, an der Martha Hauptmann auch nach der Scheidung regen Anteil nahm. Der genauen Transkription der Briefe ist ein entsprechender Sachkommentar beigegeben. Im Anhang wird Martha Hauptmanns autobiographischer »Lebensfaden« mitgeteilt. This corpus of letters contains previously unpublished letters from Carl Hauptmann's first wife Martha Hauptmann, née Thienemann (1862-1939), which she wrote to her husband. During the research for this edition, the holdings in the Carl Hauptmann Archive of the University of Wrocław/Bresla, in the Archiv der Akademie der Künste in Berlin, in the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Museum Erkner and in the Carl Hauptmann-Nitsche collection in the Deutsche Literaturarchiv Marbach/N. as well as in the Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann House in Szklarska Poręba/Schreiberhau were assessed. The letters are an important source of information about Carl Hauptmann's life and work: among other things, they offer intimate insights into Hauptmann's development from scientist to poet, his family life and also his literary activity, for which Martha Hauptmann showed great interest even after their divorce. The letters were accurately transcribed and annotated by Agnieszka Godlewska and the appendix provides (auto)biographical information about Martha Hauptmann.
