"The CIA Department of Literature is a cover story for dirty things. Literature is always a cover story." During the Cold War, the CIA opened a covert front. The campaign began in Europe, but soon spread throughout the globe. It was run in cafes, universities, magazines and book publishers. What began as an operation to curb communism led to an unprecedented literary flourishing, driving the wheels of the most significant revolution in twentieth-century literary theory. The possibility of curbing the "communist devil" through literature and culture was the brainchild of an anonymous Estonian Jew, who established an anarchic network of learned agents from the best departments of literature at American universities. He recruited renowned writers, translators and thinkers, award winners and scholarship recipients for the project. The members of the network made Dr. Zhivago a worldwide bestseller, distributed 1984 across the Iron Curtain, adapted the animal farm for animation, thwarted Pablo Neruda's Nobel Prize, and made Graham Green's life miserable. All of these accomplishments were in vain when they became entangled in arms, dollar and opium smuggler networks in Saigon, Manila, Mexico City and Beirut. The Intellectual Vision Thriller is a novel inspired by stories and historical cases that deals with, among other things, the history of the novel and the humanities in the twentieth century. --online translation service
