Deutsch - Plank, Eva: Die Arbeit erschließt aus theologischer Perspektive, wie das Wirken des biblischen Propheten und die politischen Ereignisse, die zur Belagerung, Eroberung, Zerstörung Jerusalems und des Tempels und zur Wegführung der Bevölkerung ins babylonische Exil führten, von Stefan Zweig in Jeremias rezipiert werden. Mit dem Drama drückt Zweig im Ersten Weltkrieg symbolisch seine Überzeugung von der moralischen Überlegenheit des Besiegten aus, die ihre Wurzeln in der jüdischen Tradition hat. Der persönliche wie zeitgeschichtliche Kontext, der die Grundlage für Zweigs Denken bildet, ist der Deutung des Dramas als Aktualisierung und Fortschreibung biblischer Überlieferung erläuternd vorangestellt. Der erste Teil der Arbeit (I.) wirft einen Blick auf den jüdischen Schriftsteller und Weltbürger Zweig. Der zweite Teil (II.) befasst sich eingehend mit dem Drama und verortet es in einem breiten biblischen Zusammenhang. Neben der Bedeutung geistiger Freundschaften Zweigs und seiner Adaptierung des biblischen Stoffes werden Jeremias-Rezensionen thematisiert. Als Referenzrahmen für die Deutung des Prophetenschicksals wird die Trauma-Theorie herangezogen. Den Hauptteil der Arbeit bildet die Deutung des Zweigschen Dramas auf dem Hintergrund der biblischen Prophetengestalt bzw. einer teilweisen Neuinterpretation des Buches Jeremia. Ausgehend vom Inhalt der neun Bilder des Dramas werden schwerpunktmäßig Aspekte biblischer Prophetie aufgegriffen und mit der Zweigschen Interpretation in Beziehung gesetzt: Berufung, wahre und falsche Propheten, Zionstheologie, Konfessionen Jeremias, Zeichenhandlungen, Gottesknechtthematik. Englisch - Eva Plank: The thesis develops how, from a theological perspective, the work of the biblical prophet and the political events, which led to the conquest and destruction of Jerusalem and the temple and to the people’s being taken into exile in Babylon, were perceived by Stefan Zweig in his drama Jeremiah. With his drama, Zweig during World War I symbolically expresses his conviction of the moral superiority of the defeated – a conviction which has its roots in the Jewish tradition. The personal and contemporary context in which Zweig’s thinking developed is addressed preemptively as it buttresses the interpretation of the drama as a further updating and continuation of the biblical tradition. The first part of the work (I.) takes a closer look at the Jewish author and cosmopolitan Zweig. The second part focuses on the drama and discusses it within the broader biblical context. Apart from the importance of Zweig’s intellectual friendships and his adaptation of many a biblical theme, a number of Jeremiah reviews are discussed. In order to interpret the prophet’s destiny as depicted in Jeremiah, the trauma theory is also incorporated into the research. The main part of the thesis is the interpretation of Zweig’s drama based on his depiction of the biblical prophet, which partly contributes to a new interpretation of the Book of Jeremiah. On the basis of the contents of the nine pictures as displayed in the drama, various aspects of biblical prophecy are described and related to Zweig’s own interpretation of the following themes: vocation, true and false prophecy, Zion theology, Jeremiah’s Confessions, his symbolic acts, and the Suffering Servant theme.
