University Departments ; sf1 "The English Department at the University of New Hampshire is a diverse group of literary critics, essayists, novelists, poets, journalists, and linguists. Members of the department have won Pulitzer Prizes, Distinguished Teaching Awards, Shaughnessy Awards, National Book Awards; taught or studied in foreign countries and served in the Peace Corps; spoken at national conferences on literary criticism, composition, women's studies, American studies, and other topics; and appeared on both radio and television. The English Department support the Linguistics, Humanities, and Women's Studies programs at UNH. The English Department also administers and staffs the largest program in all of UNH, the innovative and nationally recognized Freshman Composition Program. Within the English Department, students encounter a variety of courses and approaches. Our strength is our diversity, allowing students to study literature and language with open minds and to explore new perspectives with each course.
