Este libro examina la Leyenda Negra como un fenómeno dialógico y muestra cómo dramaturgos como Lope de Vega, Vélez de Guevara o Rojas Zorrilla conocían la argumentación del enemigo y cómo reaccionaron a ella de distintas maneras

Este libro examina la Leyenda Negra como un fenómeno dialógico y muestra cómo dramaturgos como Lope de Vega, Vélez de Guevara o Rojas Zorrilla conocían la argumentación del enemigo y cómo reaccionaron a ella de distintas maneras. En algunos casos, como el de Lope, con un consciente proceso de negociación y respuesta a ciertas imágenes antihispánicas, y en otros, como en la historia de don Carlos, confirmando elementos de esa misma Leyenda Negra que se habían convertido ya en mitos negativos. El volumen se centra en el Siglo de Oro para explorar el dinamismo de este sistema en el campo literario del momento, fijándose en particular en el dramático. No obstante esta focalización genérica y temporal, también extiende sus límites cronológicos hasta la época actual para mostrar la continuidad histórica del fenómeno y para rastrear cómo evolucionaron ciertas imágenes y conceptos auriseculares.

    Uno de los fenómenos culturales más dinámicos del Siglo de Oro fue la Leyenda Negra, el sistema de imágenes que utilizó y difundió la propaganda antihispánica del momento, principalmente la de algunos de los enemigos de la Monarquía Hispánica como holandeses, ingleses y protestantes alemanes. Este libro examina la Leyenda Negra como un fenómeno dialógico y muestra cómo dramaturgos como Lope de Vega, Vélez de Guevara o Rojas Zorrilla conocían la argumentación del enemigo y cómo reaccionaron a ella de distintas maneras.

Este libro examina la Leyenda Negra como un fenómeno dialógico y muestra cómo dramaturgos como Lope de Vega, Vélez de Guevara o Rojas Zorrilla conocían la argumentación del enemigo y cómo reaccionaron a ella de distintas maneras. En algunos casos, como el de Lope, con un consciente proceso de negociación y respuesta a ciertas imágenes antihispánicas, y en otros, como en la historia de don Carlos, confirmando elementos de esa misma Leyenda Negra que se habían convertido ya en mitos negativos. El volumen se centra en el Siglo de Oro para explorar el dinamismo de este sistema en el campo literario del momento, fijándose en particular en el dramático. No obstante esta focalización genérica y temporal, también extiende sus límites cronológicos hasta la época actual para mostrar la continuidad histórica del fenómeno y para rastrear cómo evolucionaron ciertas imágenes y conceptos auriseculares.
