    Abstract. The current scenario of understanding spatial objects with regards to land and marine environment seems lacking. Inevitably, the scenario in line with the global warming issues as being highly mentioned by world-bodies such as the United Nations (UN) on climate change, etc. Recently the statistics on earth surface temperature point towards high record temperatures that lead to sea-level rise and degradation of land surface area, in general. These situations caused other spatial objects (land and marine properties) to be affected by their physical properties’ changes (including geometries and locations). Thus, this paper attempts to review various aspects related to digital twins of land and marine spatial objects with respect to issues and challenges of multiple data acquisition techniques considering accuracy, data standard, seamless and integrated georeferenced data within the scenario as being reported in the 6th IPCC document. The situation warrants us to explore different types of land and marine properties (static and dynamic) where static properties are defined as immovable objects and vice versa for the dynamic environment. This paper also discusses on a brief experiment utilizing MERIT DEM (Multi-Error-Removed Improved-Terrain Digital Elevation Model), existing building footprints, simulated bathymetry, and land use datasets. The experiment reveals the prediction of the sea level rise according to the IPCC report. The gist of this paper to serve a motivation for our near-future research in the context of geospatial components and sea level rise (SLR).

    »Große gesellschaftliche Herausforderungen« - unter diesem Begriff werden in europäischen und nationalen Strategiepapieren Themen wie Klimawandel, demographische Entwicklung und daraus resultierende steigende Mobilitätsbedürfnisse sowie eine angemessene Gesundheitsversorgung verhandelt. Es gibt jedoch unterschiedliche Vorstellungen darüber, welchen Beitrag die Wissenschaften leisten können und sollen. Wie gelingt der Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft? Wie lassen sich gesellschaftspolitische Handlungsfelder über wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse identifizieren? Um diese Fragen zu beantworten, ist disziplinenübergreifendes Forschen wichtig und notwendig.Die Beiträge des Bandes zeigen am Beispiel der Konstruktionsphilosophie des Leichtbaus, wie Forschung zu Ressourceneffizienz, umweltfreundlicher Mobilität, Klimaschutz und Medizintechnik aussieht - und aussehen kann -, und weisen auf die Schwierigkeiten und Grenzen einer inter- und transdisziplinären Forschung hin.

    The Paris Agreement invites signatory countries to formulate and communicate long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies (LT-LEDS). This report compares the experience of three developed countries that have communicated LT-LEDS within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC): France (Stratégie National Bas-Carbone), Germany (Klimaschutzplan 2050) and the United Kingdom (Clean Growth Strategy). The report analyses the three stages of the LT-LEDS process in detail: a) the institutional and technical process to create the LT-LEDS; b) the document strategy resulting from the process; and c) the design of specific mechanisms to facilitate implementation of the LT-LEDS. While LT-LEDS will reflect countries own "common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities, in the light of different national circumstances", it is hoped that the lessons and messages included in this report can be useful to other developed and developing countries interested in creating and implementing LT-LEDS.

    Norwegian contemporary climate fiction often portrays humans as in denial of climate change.1 In Erlend Nødtvedt’s transgressive novel Vestlandet (2017), an alternative story is presented. In contrast to conventional climate change denial, the two protagonists turn the situation upside down and literally celebrate death and climate change and the exceptional Western Norwegian »sublime« landscape. Drawing on Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of laughter and the carnivalesque, I will investigate Vestlandet as a response to a world in climate crisis, and thereby transcending the ecocritical reluctance to engage with laughter. Environmental humor offers an alternative vision, a possibility to see ourselves from another perspective. Vestlandet contributes to the creation of new climate change narratives and communicates potential for change, but there is no guarantee that laughter will lead to increased awareness and action. In der zeitgenössischen norwegischen Klimaliteratur wird der Mensch oft als Leugner des Klimawandels dargestellt. In Erlend Nødtvedts transgressivem Roman Vestlandet (2017) wird eine alternative Geschichte präsentiert. Im Gegensatz zur herkömmlichen Leugnung des Klimawandels stellen die beiden Protagonisten die Situation auf den Kopf und feiern buchstäblich den Tod, den Klimawandel und die außergewöhnliche westnorwegische »erhabene « Landschaft. In Anlehnung an Mikhail Bakhtins Konzept des Lachens und des Karnevalesken werde ich Vestlandet als Antwort auf eine Welt in der Klimakrise untersuchen und dabei die ökokritische Zurückhaltung gegenüber dem Lachen überwinden. Umwelthumor bietet eine alternative Vision, eine Möglichkeit, uns selbst aus einer anderen Perspektive zu sehen. Vestlandet trägt zur Schaffung neuer Erzählungen über den Klimawandel bei und vermittelt das Potenzial für Veränderungen, gibt aber keine Garantie dafür, dass Lachen zu mehr Bewusstsein und Handeln führt.

This paper provides a detailed presentation of the simulation results from the October 2020 IMF World Economic Outlook chapter 3 and an additional scenario with carbon pricing only for comparison with the comprehensive policy package where green investments were also included.     Climate change will potentially bring about important macroeconomic effects for all countries in the world and especially for emerging economies. I perform a counterfactual analysis to estimate the potential effect of global warming on the natural interest rate using a state-space semi-structural model of inflation and output determination. The model is estimated with quarterly data for Colombia for the period 1994-2019. I simulate gradual warming of 1°C during this period and include its potential effect on GDP growth and inflation according to recent cross-country estimations in the literature. The estimation with counterfactual data shows that the counterfactual natural interest rate decreases more rapidly to reach near 0% at the end of the period. This result is induced by the persistently negative effects of higher temperatures on trend output growth.

    This paper investigates the impact of central banks when supporting policies aiming at greening the financial system. The July 2021 Monetary Policy Strategy Review of the European Central Bank unexpectedly dedicated a whole workstream to climate change. The announcement had a significant effect on the pricing and issuance of green bonds in the Eurozone. We find that ECB eligible 'green bonds’ Yield-to-Maturity decreased following the announcement when compared to equivalent conventional bonds. Firms incorporated in the Eurozone reacted to the announcement by increasing the amount of green bond issued, for both the segments of ECB-eligible and non-ECB-eligible green bonds

    We develop a two-sector incomplete markets integrated assessment model to analyze the effectiveness of green quantitative easing (QE) in complementing fiscal policies for climate change mitigation. We model green QE through an outstanding stock of private assets held by a monetary authority and its portfolio allocation between a clean and a dirty sector of production. Green QE leads to a partial crowding out of private capital in the green sector and to a modest reduction of the global temperature by 0.04 degrees of Celsius until 2100. A moderate global carbon tax of 50 USD per tonne of carbon is 4 times more effective.

    This paper studies the long-term distribution of energy-efficiency outcomes in the German residential sector. To uncover the underlying energy efficiency of buildings, we estimate the causal response of building-level heat energy demand to variability in heating degree days. We examine heterogeneity in temperature response using both panel fixed-effects and causal forests. Our results suggest that the distribution of energy-efficiency is not equitable in the West of Germany, with buildings located in the South attaining the best energy performance standards. Although the housing stock in the East is significantly older and thus less subject to building standards, they perform better than the West counterpart, likely as a result of large investments in retrofitting post-reunification. Finally, we show that the regional distribution of energy-efficiency reflects differences in heating needs - thus, the poorer energy performance of buildings in the North-West should be weighed against the warmer climatic zone.
