The book synthesizes the latest developments in the theoretical understanding of the Baroque style as a universal category and analyzes, in a comparative historical perspective, its reception and adaptation in the individual Slavic literatures. Of special interest is the role of the contactology at the acceptance of the Baroque paradigm in the literature of the Slavic peoples of the orthodox region and the rule of the crucial importance of the host structure in this process.
