    Alienation and strangeness could be understood as markers of cultural paradigms. The first term is related to modernity as the second is to postmodernity. One stands for identity, the other for alterity. While the existence of the phenomenon of alienation becomes disputable, the discourse of strangeness becomes intensified in the European academic sphere. In a way, the discourse of strangeness is labeled by a cultural critic, which tries to justify "strange" for centuries dispelled by the European culture. Meanwhile, a phenomenology of alienation is developed to re-structure the term. Both phenomena are connected insofar as alienation can be understood as a temporary moment of strangeness. ... Entfremdung (alienação) e Fremdheit (estranheza) podem ser entendidos como demarcadores de paradigmas culturais. A primeira está para a modernidade, assim como a segunda está para a pós-modernidade. Uma está para identidade, e a outra para alteridade. Enquanto a existência do fenômeno da alienação tornou-se questionável na atualidade, o discurso sobre estranheza vem se consolidando no âmbito acadêmico europeu. Tal discurso é, em certa medida, marcado por uma crítica cultural que tenta fazer justiça ao "estranho" recalcado por séculos pela cultura europeia. Enquanto isso, uma fenomenologia da alienação começa também a se desenvolver, a fim de reformular o conceito. Os dois fenômenos relacionam-se na medida em que a alienação é entendida como um momento transitório da estranheza. ...

    The University of Aachen harbored for years the main centre of Studies on Imagology of Germany and perhaps of the world. The Center was founded by Hugo Dyserinck, who, in 1966, with the article "Zum Problem der 'images' und 'mirages' und ihrer Untersuchung im Rahmen der vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft" opened the doors to a new Imagology. He gathered there disciples, who roamed the new horizons with extensive research, which led to the publication of the collection "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". ... A Universidade de Aachen abrigou durante anos o principal centro de Estudos Imagológicos da Alemanha e talvez do mundo. O centro foi fundado por Hugo Dyserinck, que, em 1966, com o artigo "Zum Problem der 'images' und 'mirages' und ihrer Untersuchung im Rahmen der vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft" abriu as portas para uma nova Imagologia. Ali reuniu discípulos, que desbravaram os novos horizontes com inúmeras pesquisas, que deram origem à publicação da coleção "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". ...

Enquanto a existência do fenômeno da alienação tornou-se questionável na atualidade, o discurso sobre estranheza vem se consolidando no âmbito acadêmico europeu. Tal discurso é, em certa medida, marcado por uma crítica cultural que tenta fazer justiça ao "estranho" recalcado por séculos pela cultura europeia. Enquanto isso, uma fenomenologia da alienação começa também a se desenvolver, a fim de reformular o conceito.     It might sound odd to work with the theme of absence, a theme which has occupied the minds of anthropologists, artists, and semioticians for a long time. So we present a brief conceptualization of absence and a short panorama of German movie after 1989, to show how film and literature have developed similarly in the same period. The main goal of this analysis is to detect structures of absence in German films after the German reunification. To illustrate the representation of absence, we propose an analysis of film stills. We rely mainly on the theories and concepts of Lehmann/Weibel, of the German philosopher Bernhard Waldenfels, as well as those of Gilles Deleuze and Michel Chion. Parece estranho à primeira vista tratarmos do tema da ausência, tão caro à antropologia, à semiótica e às artes. Para tanto, procederemos inicialmente a uma breve conceituação do termo, para depois passarmos a um curto panorama da produção cinematográfica dos últimos 20 anos na Alemanha, que geralmente acompanha tendências semelhantes na literatura. Verificaremos em que medida podem ser detectados elementos de ausência no cinema pós-muro na Alemanha. Em seguida, procederemos a uma análise de planos fílmicos de três filmes nos quais se evidencia a questão da ausência. Para este trabalho, utilizaremos como base teórica considerações de Lehmann/Weibel, Bernhard Waldenfels, Gilles Deleuze e Michel Chion. Es erscheint auf den ersten Blick kurios, das Thema der Abwesenheit zu behandeln, ein Thema, das der Semiotik, der Anthropologie und der Kunst schon lange vertraut ist. Hierzu gehen wir eingangs kurz auf eine Begriffseingrenzung ein, um dann ein zusammenfassendes Panorama der Filmproduktion der letzten 20 Jahre in Deutschland zu kommentieren, die größtenteils die Entwicklungen in der literarischen Produktion desselben Zeitraums begleitet. Im folgenden wird untersucht, inwiefern Strukturen der Abwesenheit im Postwendefilm in Deutschland festzustellen sind. Anschließend werden Filmeinstellungen von drei Filmen untersucht, in denen sich die Repräsentation von Abwesenheit verdeutlicht. Als theoretische Grundlage dienen uns Ausführungen von Lehmann/Weibel, Bernhard Waldenfels, Gilles Deleuze und Michel Chion.

He gathered there disciples, who roamed the new horizons with extensive research, which led to the publication of the collection "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". ... A Universidade de Aachen abrigou durante anos o principal centro de Estudos Imagológicos da Alemanha e talvez do mundo. O centro foi fundado por Hugo Dyserinck, que, em 1966, com o artigo "Zum Problem der 'images' und 'mirages' und ihrer Untersuchung im Rahmen der vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft" abriu as portas para uma nova Imagologia. Ali reuniu discípulos, que desbravaram os novos horizontes com inúmeras pesquisas, que deram origem à publicação da coleção "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". ...

    "Ah, a tradução […] exige um coração recto, devoto, fiel, esforçado, temente, […] douto, experimentado e destro. Por isso, tenho para mim que um […] espírito faccioso não é capaz de traduzir com fidelidade." (Lutero) Está sempre presente na mente do tradutor, de forma mais ou menos inconfessada, de forma mais ou menos inconsciente, e muito mais ainda no caso da tradução literária, pois é dela que estamos a falar, uma série de instâncias controladoras que regulam a sua produção como um superego de interesses divergentes. Este superego transforma o seu trabalho numa negociação de decisões drásticas e difíceis que envolvem: (a) a (pseudo) autarcia do texto ou ditadura do original; (b) o sistema de disponibilidades e exigências da língua de chegada; (c) aqueles que consideramos nossos pares, colegas de ofício, constituindo ao mesmo tempo o nosso desafio e a nossa segurança, que sempre temos em mente, mesmo sabendo que nem sempre terão tempo de nos ler, ou aqueles que por imperativo de profissão nos lêem e de quem esperamos a compreensão das nossas opções; (d) por contraponto, os “ím-pares”, eventualmente conhecendo as línguas, outras vezes nem por isso, mas ignorando o que é tradução, ao pensar que esta se resolve com equivalências lexicalizadas e automáticas, desconhecendo também as condições especiais da tradução literária; (e) o público real, a sua capacidade de interpretação e a medida da sua disponibilidade para processar a resistência criativa de um texto; (f) e os editores, com as suas linhas de orientação interna e as exigências que se prendem com o marketing.

    Alienation and strangeness could be understood as markers of cultural paradigms. The first term is related to modernity as the second is to postmodernity. One stands for identity, the other for alterity. While the existence of the phenomenon of alienation becomes disputable, the discourse of strangeness becomes intensified in the European academic sphere. In a way, the discourse of strangeness is labeled by a cultural critic, which tries to justify "strange" for centuries dispelled by the European culture. Meanwhile, a phenomenology of alienation is developed to re-structure the term. Both phenomena are connected insofar as alienation can be understood as a temporary moment of strangeness. Both theories turned out to be productive in literary analysis. ; Entfremdung (alienação) e Fremdheit (estranheza) podem ser entendidos como demarcadores de paradigmas culturais. A primeira está para a modernidade, assim como a segunda está para a pós-modernidade. Uma está para identidade, e a outra para alteridade. Enquanto a existência do fenômeno da alienação tornou-se questionável na atualidade, o discurso sobre estranheza vem se consolidando no âmbito acadêmico europeu. Tal discurso é, em certa medida, marcado por uma crítica cultural que tenta fazer justiça ao "estranho" recalcado por séculos pela cultura europeia. Enquanto isso, uma fenomenologia da alienação começa também a se desenvolver, a fim de reformular o conceito. Os dois fenômenos relacionam-se na medida em que a alienação é entendida como um momento transitório da estranheza. Ambas as teorias têm se mostrado produtivas no campo da análise literária.

In Brazil, the influence of Dyserinck was also felt, for example, in the publication of my book "Do cá e do lá. Introdução à Imagologia", whose content is in part commented and illustrated. ; A Universidade de Aachen abrigou durante anos o principal centro de Estudos Imagológicos da Alemanha e talvez do mundo.
