    In a 2018 episode of the podcast The Airing of Grief, musician Derek Webb spoke with a caller about the fact that social media, live performances/events, and podcasts have become some of the few community spaces where religious and formerly religious people are able to deconstruct their faith experiences and process their doubts and questions. This observation began a research project regarding the question of community formation around religious deconstruction/reconstruction and its specific relation to social media spaces. As this research revealed, these deconstruction communities are safe spaces in which participants feel and experience radically open, loving, and supportive community (something that was promised or sought in previous religious spaces but rarely was experienced). The public and broad connecting aspects of social media and podcasts have allowed those who previously experienced deconstruction or doubts in isolation to find support and connections.

    The Religious Studies Project is now a well-known fixture in the field, but it was not always as well-known as it is today. In this interview, Dr. Richard Newton from the Bulletin sat down with Dr. Chris Cotter and Dr. David Robertson to discuss their journey in creating the religious studies podcast from simple pub talk in 2010 to its current collection of some 300 episodes. In relaying their strides and struggles in this venture, Cotter and Robertson answer many of the questions that prominently face scholars in digital work and help showcase the need for such methods to gain acceptance in an academic world whose needs are swiftly changing.

Seltsam, nicht wahr?! The book list is looooong. The Fantasy book recommendation of this month is Gail Carrigers „Defy or Defend“, stylish Vampires and the power of a well chosen wall paper.The Non-Fiction book recommendation is Carlo Rovellis „The Order of Time“, a small but mindbending physics and poetic book. The recommendations come not only from SandyJ but also from LisaL. This episode celebrates the magic of books and different voices. Black, female and LGBTQ+ voices matter (!!!!) and they provide fun and enlightening reading material, too.
