    Abstract: Intellektuelles Engagement wird in Frankreich häufig mit männlichen Akteuren und einem couragierten Eintreten für die universellen Werte der Aufklärung assoziiert. Schon im frühmodernen Frankreich des 17. Jahrhunderts waren jedoch auch Frauen - entgegen bestehender Standes- und Geschlechterkonventionen - intellektuell tätig. Als Schriftstellerinnen und Salonbetreiberinnen thematisierten einige von ihnen die Ungleichheit von Frauen und Männern und entwarfen Modelle für respektvollere Geschlechterbeziehungen. Eine dieser - sowohl in anerkennendem wie auch in spöttischem Sinne - als "Preziöse" bezeichneten Frauen war die Schriftstellerin Madeleine de Scudéry. Da sie sich in ihrem literarischen Werk und auch in ihren persönlichen Lebensentscheidungen in unkonventioneller und reflektierter Weise mit für Frauen sehr problematischen Themen wie "Bildung", "Ehe" oder "Schreiben und Publizieren" auseinandersetzte, stellt sie gleichzeitig eine Ausnahmefigur ihrer Zeit und den Prototyp einer f

    Abstract: This paper intends to explore the relationship between history and fiction in the novel A History of the World in 10 1⁄2 Chapters (1989) by the British writer Julian Barnes in order to indicate how these two notions have been commingled in different periods. In this regard, the focus of the current study is to investigate the above-mentioned novel, and to demonstrate the invalidity of historical records, their subjectivity, and how throughout history myths have become realities, with an eye on New Historicism. By the end of this study, its reader's attitude towards history and what s/he is presented with as fact and truth is hoped to change, not to readily accept historical records and stories as absolute truths, rather to consider them one possible history among many others that might have been marginalized and suppressed by a dominant ideology

    'In diesem Beitrag geht es um die Analyse einer Emigrantinnen-Autobiographie aus dem Jahr 1940. Im Zentrum steht die Frage nach der Konstitution des moralischen Selbst in Auseinandersetzung mit Sozialisationserfahrungen. Die hierzu entwickelte Methode orientiert sich an der Theorie der Dialogizität Michael Bachtins und fundiert sich in der zentralen These, dass sich 'Stimmen' der anderen in autobiographischen Texten finden lassen, die konstitutiv sind für die Bildung eines moralischen Selbst. Das Besondere an dieser Methode ist, dass nicht nur die Identitätskonstruktion eines moralischen Selbst aus den Sozialisationserfahrungen mit Anderen, sondern auch der Prozess der Konstruktion als individuelle Auseinandersetzung rekonstruierbar ist. Die Analyse der exemplarisch ausgewählten Autobiographie, in der Hilda Weiss ihre Lebensgeschichte bis zur Emigration aus Deutschland im Jahr 1933 erzählt, zeigt einen zentralen und frühen Grundkonflikt ihres Lebens, der von der Autorin als 'Selbstsein' oder Assimilation ans 'Anderssein' binär codiert wird. Der Kontrast 'Autonomie' oder 'Integration' wird zum dominierenden Faktor bei der Bildung ihres moralischen Selbst und ihrer Identitätskonstruktion. Verblüffend ist die Kontinuität und Dominanz dieser für die Autorin zentralen Frage im Autobiographisierungsprozess, so dass spätere Sozialisationserfahrungen keine grundsätzliche Veränderung bieten, sondern ihr 'Lebensthema' den Deutungsrahmen dieser Erfahrungen setzt.'     Der Autor stellt erste Ergebnisse und weitere Vorhaben des Projekts 'Interkulturelle Kompetenz im Unternehmen. Entwicklung, Nutzung, Theoriebildung, Praxis 1895-1995 (IKU)' vor, welches von der Volkswagen-Stiftung im Forschungsschwerpunkt 'Das Fremde und das Eigene' gefördert wurde. Das Projekt IKU ist interdisziplinär ausgerichtet und orientiert sich an Theorien aus den Sozialwissenschaften, der Psychologie, Anthropologie und Linguistik, um deren Hypothesen und Modelle zur interkulturellen Kommunikation historisch-empirisch zu prüfen und weiter zu differenzieren. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden empirische Beispiele aus der historischen Teildisziplin der Unternehmensgeschichte vorgestellt, wobei Quellenmaterial aus den Unternehmensarchiven der BMW AG und der Siemens AG ausgewertet wird. Bei den Untersuchungsbereichen handelt es sich im einzelnen um 'Kultur, Kulturstandards und interkulturelle Kompetenz', 'Auslandsentsendung und interkulturelle Persönlichkeit' und 'Interkulturelle Verhandlungsführung'. Jeder Abschnitt enthält Theorieangebote aus den genannten humanwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen sowie empirische Beispiele. Abschließend wird ein Ausblick zur 'Historischen Xenologie' gegeben.     Antisemitism has emerged as a key concept of the Hungarian sociopolitical vocabulary during the last decades when it has been chiefly employed by its critics. The paper lists four main reasons that are in turn historical, transnational, intellectual and political behind the much increased importance of this concept. Through the methods of conceptual history, it subsequently aims to show that the meaning of antisemitism has undergone significant changes since the fall of the communist regime. The three most important semantic shifts identified are its moralization, extension and politicization. While moralization is meant to indicate the complete unacceptability of antisemitism, its extended conception tends to depict it as a most complex and dangerous form of prejudice. Both the moralized and extended conception of antisemitism was also politically employed by Hungarian left liberals to contest the legitimacy of the conservative rightist forces. The latter have in turn aimed to redefine antisemitism as a political as much as a social or cultural issue, thereby contributing to its further politicization. More recent years have also brought about the visible revival of antisemitism – in spite of the concept having been recurrently and critically used in public discussions of recent decades.

    "In this article the author tries to articulate a critical assessment of the current geopolitical assets of Digital Humanities. This critique is based firstly on data about the composition of various government organs, institutions and the principal journals in the field, and secondly on a general reflection on the cultural, political and linguistic bias of digital standards, protocols and interfaces. These reflections suggest that DH is not only a discipline and an academic discourse dominated materially by an Anglo-American élite and intellectually by a mono-cultural view, but also that it lacks a theoretical model for reflecting critically on its own instruments. The author concludes by proposing the elaboration of a different model of DH, based on the concept of knowledge as a commons and the cultivation of cultural margins, as opposed to its present obsession with large-scale digitization projects and 'archiving fever', that leads to an increase in our dependency on the products of private industry and, of course, on their funding."     As one of the projects of the Soviet cultural revolution, the Gypsy project was notable for its unusual success in creating a new literary language and active book publishing. Among its achievements are both original fiction, textbooks and manuals in various fields of knowledge and technics. For instance, the elementary school was almost fully provided with necessary books in Romani. It is noteworthy that Roma women played an active role in the creation of new literature and proved to be not only translators, but also authors of original works in several genres. As the most hardworking author, N. Pankovo, who was distinguished by incredible productivity, should be noted. This project was regularly supported by the state, which allowed the distribution of books at reasonable prices. This project was stopped in 1938, which overwhelmed the narrow group of writers and activists, though it did not lead to fatal personal repressions against them.
