    The hiddenness of God in relation to opus alienum reflects, in Luther, a particular theological anthropology: one based on the limits of humanity and the futility of human action; and one that ascribes a certain role to suffering. One aspect of this account of the hiddenness of God is a figure whose terror remains unmitigated even by the light of salvation. In their discussions of the hiddenness of God, Karl Barth and Eberhard Jüngel reject this particular hiddenness of God. However, their theologies draw on the opus alienum, and in doing so, they examine and analyse the despair and anxiety that characterise it in their own discussions of evil as nothingness. These accounts of nothingness engage with philosophical accounts of nothingness as being that which prompts self-assertion and actualisation as authentic existence. However, this use of the opus alienum opens their theologies up to the figure that they rejected in their prior accounts of hiddenness: the hidden, alien, and terrifying God. Die Verborgenheit Gottes im Verhältnis zum opus alienum spiegelt bei Luther eine bestimmte theologische Anthropologie wider: eine Anthropologie, die auf den Grenzen des Menschen und der Vergeblichkeit menschlicher Handlung basiert und dem Leid eine bestimmte Rolle zuweist. Ein Aspekt dieser Darstellung der Verborgenheit Gottes ist eine Figur, deren Schrecken auch im Licht der Erlösung nicht gemildert wird. Karl Barth und Eberhard Jüngel lehnen in ihren Diskussionen der Verborgenheit Gottes diese bestimme Form der Verborgenheit Gottes ab. Dennoch beziehen sich ihre Theologien auf das opus alienum. Sie untersuchen und analysieren die Verzweiflung und die Angst, die sie in ihren eigenen Diskussionen über das Böse als Nichts kennzeichnen. Ihre Darstellungen des Nichts greifen philosophische Darstellungen des Nichts als das auf, was zur Selbstbehauptung und Verwirklichung als authentische Existenz führt. Dennoch öffnet die Verwendung des opus alienum ihre Theologien für die Figur, die sie in ihren früheren Darstellungen der Verborgenheit ablehnen: den verborgenen, fremden und furchteinflößenden Gott.

What contributes to creative death are not just crippling diseases that make man defenseless in the face of death, and not just the arguably universal fear of death but, equally important, the innumerable impositions on the part of various outsiders. Many conflicts in the lives of Rylkova's subjects arose not from their opposition to the existing political regimes but from their interactions with like-minded and supporting intellectuals, friends, and relatives. The book describes the lives and choices that concrete individuals and-by extrapolation-their literary characters must face in order to preserve their singularity and integrity while attempting to achieve fame, greatness, and success

Ann Jefferson's Nathalie Sarraute: A Life Between is the authoritative biography of this major writer.Sarraute's life spanned a century and a continent. Born in tsarist Russia to Jewish parents, she was soon uprooted and brought to the city that became her lifelong home, Paris. This dislocation presaged a life marked by ambiguity and ambivalence. A stepchild in two families, a Russian émigré in Paris, a Jew in bourgeois French society, and a woman in a man’s literary world, Sarraute was educated at Oxford, Berlin, and the Sorbonne.     In dieser Studienausgabe werden zentrale und repräsentative Texte aus der Deutschen Søren Kierkegaard Edition zusammengestellt. Der vorliegende erste Band der Studienausgabe enthält Texte aus Kierkegaards literarischem Nachlass, die den ersten drei Bänden der Deutschen Søren Kierkegaard Edition entnommen sind. Kierkegaards Texte werden gemäß den für die Edition geltenden philologischen Prinzipien - seitenidentisch - wiedergegeben, der detaillierte Realkommentar der Edition wird übernommen. Die inhaltlich und formal vielfältigen Texte, die von autobiographischen Notizen über literarische Entwürfe bis zu philosophischen und theologischen Erörterungen und Predigtskizzen reichen, ermöglichen einen Blick in Kierkegaards Werkstatt, in die Genese und Eigenart seines Denkens und Schreibens - was sowohl im Hinblick auf die veröffentlichten Werke als auch auf die Bedeutung der nachgelassenen Papiere als eigenständiger Teil des Gesamtwerks aufschlussreich ist. Zu den in diesem Band versammelten Texten aus den Jahren 1835 bis 1849 zählen zum Beispiel das "Journal AA" mit den grundlegenden Aufzeichnungen der Gilleleje-Reise oder das das Herzstück der frühen Journale bildende "Journal JJ".Die Studienausgabe richtet sich somit nicht nur an Kierkegaard-Spezialisten, sondern an ein größeres, allgemein interessiertes Publikum
