Epilog Der vorliegende Band bietet einen Durchgang durch Hölderlins dichterisches Schaffen und interpretiert zahlreiche Gedichte ausgehend von der Frage, wie sich das Verhältnis von Gott/Mensch/Sprache darin jeweils darstellt. Dieses zeigt sich als ein zunehmend gebrochen-fragiles; in dieser Schwächung kann sich jedoch eine neue Aufmerksamkeit für das Göttliche, das Menschliche und die Sprache entwickeln – in theologischer Diktion: Offenbarung Gottes nicht in einem „Mehr“, sondern in der Zurücknahme einer für den Menschen nicht fassbaren Fülle und im Abschied von fixierten Bildern

Dabei zeigen Analysen zu Menschenbildern in Literaturen der (Post-)Moderne und Gegenwart, dass sich die jeweils vorgenommenen Bestimmungsversuche ebenso wie die wahrgenommenen Unergründlichkeiten auch auf die literarisch reflektierten Formen und Aneignungsweisen des Narrativen auswirken – und schließlich ein exzentrisches Erzählen erzeugen

    Etymologische Ansätze zur Erfassung des Kitschbegriffs -- Entwicklungslinien entlang der Schwulst-, Reiz- und Empfindeleikritik im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert -- Die Kitschdiskussionen in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts (1911–1955) -- Die Kitschdiskussion in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts (1955–1978) -- Ausblick: Kitsch und Camp Laurenz Schulz liefert neue Erkenntnisse hinsichtlich der Etymologie und des regionalen Ursprungs des Kitschbegriffs und zeigt auf, dass die Werte Wahrheit, Originalität und Distanz dessen Bedeutung in invertierter Form dominieren. Die bisher in der Forschung gängige Annahme, dass Rührung bzw. Distanz die wichtigsten Werte für den Kitschbegriff sind, werden vom Autor widerlegt. Ausgehend hiervon vergleicht er den Kitsch-Diskurs mit den historischen Vorläuferphänomenen sowie postmodernen Phänomenen wie Camp und Trash und stellt argumentative Parallelen und Wertkongruenzen sowie Unterschiede heraus. Should they dismiss conflicting demands that stem solely from particular cultures, religions and mythologies in favour of a supposedly neutral set of guidelines? Does history matter? Should ancient injustices interest us today? Should we care who reached the territory first and who were its prior inhabitants? Should principles of utility play a part in resolving territorial disputes? Was John Locke right to argue that the utilisation of land counts in favour of its acquisition? And should western style settlement projects work in favour or against a nation's territorial demands? When and how should principles of equality and equal distribution come into play? Territorial Rights examines the generic types of territorial claims customarily put forward by national groups as justification for their territorial demands, within the framework of what has come to be known as 'liberal nationalism'. The final outcome is a multifarious theory on the ethics of territorial boundaries that supplies a workable set of guidelines for evaluating territorial disputes from a liberal-national perspective, and offers a common ground for discussion (including disagreement) and for the mediation of claims.

"2 Somewhere in between the polar positions of Stevens' extreme aesthetic belief and Darwin's extreme meehanistic belief lies the aesthetics of empirical thought and the whole modem Romantic tradition. There have been men in between who were both meehanists and poets, who both beIieved in automatic material meehanisms and tried to use the imagination. Erasmus Darwin was one of these "in between" figures. and since he lived early (1731-1802) in the modem scientific era he was one of the first. This older Darwin, the grandfather of Charles, has not been given due credit as a transitional figure in the development of the literature of our scientific era.     The Dissertation of 1792 on the Origin of Evil -- Schelling’s Timæus -- The Essay on the Possibility of a Form of All Philosophy (1794) -- The Opposition Between the Unconditional -- The Dramatization of Contrast -- The Paradox of Opposition -- Philosophy of Nature -- The System of Transcendental Idealism (1800) -- Epilogue on Earth. This book is not a merely historical reconstruction of Schelling’s thought; its main goal is to provide a contribution for a better comprehension of the importance of the philosophical quest of the young German philosopher from within, which represents a turning point for the whole thought of modernity. I did not describe the various fields of Schelling’s work, but I pointed out the central position of his Aesthetics, through the analysis of the inner mechanisms of his concepts. This mechanism, in my opinion, shows the reason why an Aesthetic philosophy is possible, and why its origin can be traced to Kant’s Aesthetics (particularly in Kant’s Critique of Judgement) and in the speculations of the early post-Kantian philosophy. The young Schelling’s philosophical problems precede his encounter with Fichte’s philosophy. Schelling discovers these problems, related to Plato, Aristotle, Spinoza, Wolff, Leibniz and Kant, in the protestant college of the Stift in Tübingen. Fichte confirmed the necessity of an urgent reform of transcendental philosophy, and offered to the young philosopher a philosophical dictionary and an orientation. Schelling exploited these resources with a great degree of autonomy, independence and originality. In these years Hölderlin’s influence on Schelling was much greater. Schelling’s and Hölderlin’s speculations, in these crucial years, were tightly connected.

Narrative Selbstbezüglichkeiten des Menschen. Perspektiven Philosophischer und literarischer Anthropologie anhand von Beispielanalysen zur Gegenwartsliteratur -- 7. Exzentrisches Erzählen? Fazit und Ausblick Der Mensch lebt von Natur aus in und mit Geschichten. Mit Erzählungen bestimmt er, als wer oder was er sich denkt und wer oder was er ist. Den damit verbundenen anthropologischen und subjektivitätstheoretischen Grundlagen und Funktionen des Erzählens geht die Untersuchung anhand einer systematischen Verschränkung der Philosophischen Anthropologie Helmuth Plessners mit der Erzähltheorie Paul Ricœurs sowie aktuellen literaturtheoretischen Ansätzen nach. Dabei zeigen Analysen zu Menschenbildern in Literaturen der (Post-)Moderne und Gegenwart, dass sich die jeweils vorgenommenen Bestimmungsversuche ebenso wie die wahrgenommenen Unergründlichkeiten auch auf die literarisch reflektierten Formen und Aneignungsweisen des Narrativen auswirken – und schließlich ein exzentrisches Erzählen erzeugen

Der neuzeitliche Traum einer restlosen Benennung des Weltganzen wird fraglich, wenn ihr Medium - die propositionale Aussagelogik - unter Verdacht gerät. Der Band wirft die brisante Frage auf, ob der für das Jahrhundert prägende linguistic turn nicht so sehr in einer Hinwendung, als vielmehr in einer »Abwendung« vom Sagen besteht, die sich in der Entsagungsgeste von Melvilles Bartleby emblematisch verkörpert. Einzelanalysen zu literarischen Strategien bei Mallarmé, Wittgenstein, Celan, Foucault, Adorno, Derrida, Lévinas u.a.m. führen vor, wie Unterlassen nicht nur ein kritisches, sondern auch stets ein schöpferisches Moment in sich birgt.
