    Dieser Sammelband untersucht textkritische Forschungsansätze zum Neuen Testament und seinen Manuskripten im Zeitalter von digitaler Aufbereitung und Medien. Anhand der herausragenden Arbeit von Herman Charles Hoskier als gemeinsamer Grundlage für die Analyse, untersuchen die Beiträger die intellektuelle Geschichte der neutestamentlichen Textforschung und der Erstellung kritischer Ausgaben, identifizieren viele Möglichkeiten für die weitere Forschung und diskutieren die Methoden und Protokolle bei der Erstellung der neuesten Edition des Neuen Testament: der Editio Critica Maior. This volume fundamentally re-examines textual approaches to the New Testament and its manuscripts in the age of digital editing and media. Using the eccentric work of Herman Charles Hoskier as a shared foundation for analysis, contributors examine the intellectual history of New Testament textual scholarship and the production of critical editions, identify many avenues for further research, and discuss the methods and protocols for producing the most recent set of editions of the New Testament: the Editio Critica Maior. Instead of comprising the minute refinement of a basically acceptable text, textual scholarship on the New Testament is a vibrant field that impinges upon New Testament Studies in unexpected and unacknowledged ways. On the basis of this interaction, Derrida’s parergon becomes a valid methodological tool that allows a close analysis of the mechanisms involved in the reading process. The manipulative force of a textual construct is apparent through the occurrence of friction, namely incongruities or gaps we notice during the reading process. Friction is thus, on the one hand, the main indicator of parergonality and, on the other, the prime signal for a potential conditioning of the reader. As readers, we not only have to analyze the interaction between work and parergon but must also constantly reflect upon our own position with regard to the text that we read. By means of the concept of the parergon, we can approach not only paratextual, narrative or discursive frames but also intertextual relationships. Since the application of the concept is based on a basic textual constellation and an internal mechanism, its range is wide and transcends – or complements – previously established textual categories.

    Das Buch bietet genaue Lektüren von Texten Jean Pauls, Kleists und Freuds (sowie Graciáns, Sternes, F. Schlegels und Joyce’s), und richtet sich damit auf jenen Zeitraum, in dem es mit der poetologischen und philosophischen Dignität des Witzes zu Ende ging oder schon vorbei ist. In diesem verschiebt sich, was mit »Witz« gemeint ist. Handelt es sich um 1800 noch um den Witz, »den der Witzige hat«, so seit dem 19. Jahrhundert um den, »den er macht« (so pointiert Freud).Fokussiert wird der Witz als ein Ereignis der Rede, dessen unkalkulierbare Effekte sich als Einfälle wie Zu- oder Unfälle einstellen. Mit Jean Paul ist der Witz eine Kraft, die in ihrer Beschreibung nicht aufgeht. Sie manifestiert sich in plötzlichen Effekten vielfältiger und immer auch anders möglicher sprachlicher Relationen, die in den Wörtern lauern. Das Spiel mit Worten löst die Einheiten, geht auf die Buchstaben und selbst nicht-alphabetische schriftliche Marken zurück. Mit Freud kommt der Witz als sozialer Vorgang in den Blick, der Ereignischarakter der witzigen Äußerung dann als Verwicklung des Anderen ins Geschehen, dessen Medium das Lachen ist.Was der Witz ausspielt, das betrifft auch theoretische Texte und Lektüren, das Verhältnis von Witz und Theorie.

    Der Witz ist ein Rede-Ereignis, wie seine unkalkulierbaren Effekte zeigen. Seine sprachlichen Operationen bringen Einfälle wie Zufälle oder Unfälle hervor.Um 1800 handelte es sich noch um den Witz, „den der Witzige hat“, seit dem 19. Jahrhundert um den, „den er macht“ (Freud). Gelesen werden Texte von Jean Paul bis Freud (sowie Gracián, Kleist, Sterne, Schlegel, Joyce), dort also, wo es mit der poetologischen und philosophischen Dignität des Witzes weitgehend vorbei ist. Er ist mit Jean Paul eine Kraft, die in ihrer Beschreibung nicht aufgeht. Sie manifestiert sich in sprachlichen Relationen, die bis auf die schriftlichen Marken zurückgehen, die in den Wörtern lauern. Mit Freud kommt er als sozialer Vorgang in den Blick, der Ereignischarakter der witzigen Äußerung als Verwicklung des Anderen ins Geschehen, dessen Medium das Lachen ist
