    This edited book focuses on the role of different types of pedagogical solutions in the acquisition of the Japanese grammatical system by reviewing, assessing and measuring current theory and research. Findings from this research have implications for the way Japanese grammar is learned and taught in a classroom context. The editors and contributors address a number of questions around the role of Japanese grammar learning and teaching such as: what is the role of instruction in Japanese second language acquisition? What are the main findings of empirical research into the acquisition of Japanese grammar? Is any one particular pedagogical intervention or solution to the teaching of Japanese grammar more effective than another? What pedagogical options do we have for the teaching of Japanese grammar? This book offers a unique insight into its practical implications for Japanese language learning and teaching for applied linguists, researchers, language teaching professionals and curriculum developers alike. Alessandro G. Benati is Professor of Applied Linguistics and Second Language Studies at the University of Greenwich, UK, and Director of the Centre for Applied Research and Outreach in Language Education (CAROLE). He holds a PhD in second language acquisition from the University of Greenwich and is internationally known for his research in second language learning and teaching, with special emphasis on processing instruction. Sayoko Yamashita is Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Jissen Women’s University, Japan. She holds an Ed.D, and specializes in applied linguistics, SLA, and pragmatics. Her publications include Six Measures in JSL Pragmatics, “Politeness in classrooms-comparison between JSL and EFL classrooms” in Selected Research Papers in Applied Linguistics, and “Investigating interlanguage pragmatics ability” in Investigating Pragmatics in Foreign Language Learning, Teaching and Testing - Introduction -- PART I: Theoretical Perspectives -- Chapter 1.     The introductory textbook "Indogermanische Sprachwissenschaft" covers the issues and problems of Indo-Germanic philology from today's point of view. In addition to phonology and morphology, the volume also treats syntax and vocabulary. The introductory part contains a history of Indo-Germanic philology and a description of the language families. Most of the examples come from Latin, Ancient Greek and Sanskrit. Das Studienbuch "Indogermanische Sprachwissenschaft" ist als Einführung konzipiert. Es behandelt die Probleme und Themen der historisch-vergleichenden indogermanischen Sprachwissenschaft aus heutiger Sicht. Nicht nur Laut- und Formenlehre, sondern auch Syntax und Wortschatz werden ausführlich dargestellt. Einleitend enthält der Band eine Geschichte der Indogermanistik und eine Darstellung der Sprachzweige. Die klassische Sprachtrias der altindogermanischen Sprachen (Latein, Altgriechisch und vedisches Altindisch) stellt die Mehrzahl der Beispiele.     Este libro, centrado en el estudio de los adverbios, es el resultado de un trabajo en colaboración de marcado carácter multidisciplinar y trata cuestiones gramaticales y semánticas que afectan a estas unidades léxicas, como no podía ser de otra manera, pero también pragmáticas, sin olvidar, además, que el español, como todas las lenguas, está sometido a la variación diacrónica.Los investigadores participantes se han centrado, por un lado, en el análisis de determinadas unidades adverbiales que no han recibido atención anteriormente. Por otro lado, llevan a cabo una reflexión profunda sobre cuestiones concretas y acuciantes para las que, en su opinión, los fundamentos conceptuales y las metodologías específicas de su área de especialización permiten arrojar nueva luz
