The drafting process of the accreditation to supervize theses was marked by two stages which establish also two challenges: that of the past and of the future. The first challenge consisted in making an assessment of my researches by evoking their contents without tiring the reader of useless repetitions rehearsals. My first objective was not the originality, but rather to seize the opportunity of this look towards the past to highlight the particular link uniting every researcher with its publications. I so succeeded in revitalizing my balance sheet-research, by expressing a point of view updated by my works according to my own intellectual evolution. This consideration of the researcher, often evoked by the epistemologists of the Social sciences, was able to be realized by a methodology basing on a particular use of the software of qualitative analysis NVivo. I was so able to present a new vision on my works taking into account the time past between the moment of their writing and that of to establish the balance sheet. The admixture of ideas to which led me this methodology had another characteristic: allow me the inductive highlighting of a number of themes of Management Sciences allowing to answer the second challenge, that of the future. The future diffracts in the time and led not to lock itself too much into a restricted field of scientific exploration. It's in this way that the organizational concept of hybridity, stemming from my balance sheet, appeared to me, far from any latest fad, as a vision of the rather wide reality to constitute the backbone of my scientific investigations in the future. The organization is hybrid not only because it is diversity, but also because this diversity is crossed by logics of opposing thoughts and actions, taking root in the practices, as researchers in organizational dynamics were able to observe it. We observe today the passage of a hybridity undergone, sometimes unconsciously, in a deliberate hybridity. Beyond the managerial and strategic aspects, the chosen hybridity, when it affects the values (major hybridity), becomes a real societal new vision. For company this passage expresses the complexity of the entrepreneurial answer to the increasing complexity of its environment, and raises, in new terms, the question of its control. So, in hybrid organization, questions such as those of overall performance, governance or ethics are raised in a new frame, in which the actors accept completely the conflict of the decision-making logics. The various stakeholders are then in the face of a new problem of the control, especially in the case of the major hybridity. It is the guidelines of the peculiarities of the control of the hybrid organizations which I tried hard to trace in this thesis, they establish the foundations of my future researches ; La rédaction de ce mémoire de HDR a été marquée par deux étapes qui constituent également deux défis : celui du passé et de l'avenir.

The global pandemic induced by the spread of the Covid-19 acted as an exogenous shock which forced organisations to adopt telework as a daily and common form of work along a relevant fraction of the occupational structure. Indeed, most of the growing contributions on telework focused on the estimation of employment which can work remotely, while less or any attention has been paid to the impact of the "new" work arrangement on the labour process. Our paper aims at filling this gap. Drawing from a real-time cross-professional, cross-organisational and cross-national qualitative survey, our research investigates two main and interrelated aspects. First, we show how organisations reacted to this shock in terms of autonomy and forms of control including standardisation and teamwork dimensions across different occupations and economic sectors. Second, we describe how and to which extent workers respond: adapting, resisting or appropriating the new organisation of work. More specifically, we study the effect on the above-mentioned dimensions across different occupations to highlight heterogeneity along the vertical division of labour.

Blockchain technology has attracted a lot of attention as the basis of the decentralized digital currency Bitcoin. Its key advantage is that it enables multiple parties to reach consensus without the need for mutual trust. A well-known tradeoff in blockchain networks arises between their scalability, security, and decentralization; this is usually referred to as the "Blockchain Trilemma," and is due to the coordination and security overhead of the distributed consensus algorithm and its trustless environment. Off-chain payment channels have been proposed as a blockchain scalability solution that enables pairs of nodes to transact without burdening the network. Connected channels form a Payment Channel Network (PCN), over which multihop payments are possible, with fast confirmation, low fees, and safety guaranteed via a cryptographic mechanism. In this dissertation, we investigate certain aspects of the Blockchain Trilemma and of PCN performance through a stochastic modeling, optimization, and control lens. First, we analyze the role of network delay in blockchain scalability and security by introducing stochastic models of blockchain evolution. We derive mathematical expressions that capture the blockchain dynamics in the presence of delay as a function of the network parameters, demonstrate their close agreement with measurements from a wide-area network Ethereum testbed, and also show the adverse impact of delay on the network's vulnerability to attacks even against weak adversaries. Subsequently, we focus on the transaction scheduling problem in PCNs and provide its first formal treatment. We introduce a stochastic model of the dynamics of a payment channel under discrete transaction arrivals, and propose that nodes have the ability to hold incoming transactions in buffers until some deadline in order to enable more elaborate processing decisions. We describe a scheduling policy that maximizes the channel throughput for transactions of fixed amounts, prove its optimality, and propose an extension for the general heterogeneous amounts case, which we show to outperform other heuristics through simulations. Next, we study the optimal channel rebalancing problem. PCN nodes may serve as relays for multihop payments and withhold part of the amount as a fee; this leads to unbalanced channels and the need for a rebalancing operation. We study how a relay node can maximize its profits from fees by using the rebalancing method of submarine swaps: we formulate the optimal channel rebalancing problem for a relay node as a Markov Decision Process, and adapt a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) algorithm to arrive at an approximately optimal policy that outperforms current heuristics during experiments in a custom-built discrete event simulator. Our work is the first to introduce DRL for liquidity management in PCNs. Finally, we discuss future directions related to performance optimization and the long-term viability of blockchain networks.
