    A partir d'un corpus qui présente un intérêt particulier pour une étude traductologique, l'ouvrage Hussein de Jordanie : Ma « Guerre » avec Israël et ses traductions arabe et anglaise publiés dans les années 60, cette recherche explore la problématique de la traduction du discours politique dans sa dimension émotionnelle et culturelle. En se plaçant dans le paradigme théorique qui prend en compte la dimension sociologique de la traduction qui met à mal le mythe d'une traduction objective et d'un traducteur transparent, ce travail a pour objet d'étudier les traces du traducteur. L'analyse des traces du traducteur, révélatrices d'une manipulation consciente qui cherche à produire un effet de persuasion ou d'une interprétation plus ou moins inconsciente imprégnée des émotions mêmes du traducteur, permet de montrer les transformations que peuvent subir les expressions pathémiques du discours ainsi que les conséquences qui en résultent. A travers une étude comparée de trois versions du livre et une expérimentation qui oppose deux traductions arabes séparées par un laps de temps de 40 ans, nous chercherons les traces que laissent les traducteurs quand ils entretiennent avec l'auteur des rapports de familiarité ou, au contraire, d'étrangeté From a corpus that is of a particular interest for translation studies, the book Hussein de Jordanie: Ma "Guerre" avec Israël and its Arabic and English translations published in the 60s, this research explores the problem of political discourse translation in its cultural and emotional dimension. Based on the theoretical paradigm that takes into account the sociological dimension of translation which undermines the myth of a neutral translation and an invisible translator, this work aims at studying the translator's marks. The analysis of the translator's marks which can reveal either a conscious manipulation that seeks to produce a persuasive effect or a more or less unconscious interpretation permeated by the translator's emotions, can show the changes that pathemic expressions may endure and the consequences resulting there from. Through a comparative study of three versions of the mentioned book and an experiment that opposes two Arabic translations separated by a period of 40 years, we will look for the marks left by translators when they have reports of familiarity or, on the contrary, strangeness with the Author

    During the eighteenth century, "sensibility," which once denoted merely the receptivity of the senses, came to mean a particular kind of acute and well-developed consciousness invested with spiritual and moral values and largely identified with women. How this change occurred and what it meant for society is the subject of G.J. Barker-Benfield's argument in favor of a "culture" of sensibility, in addition to the more familiar "cult." Barker-Benfield's expansive account traces the development of sensibility as a defining concept in literature, religion, politics, economics, education, domestic life, and the social world. He demonstrates that the "cult of sensibility" was at the heart of the culture of middle-class women that emerged in eighteenth-century Britain. The essence of this culture, Barker-Benfield reveals, was its articulation of women's consciousness in a world being transformed by the rise of consumerism that preceded the industrial revolution The new commercial capitalism, while fostering the development of sensibility in men, helped many women to assert their own wishes for more power in the home and for pleasure in "the world" beyond. Barker-Benfield documents the emergence of the culture of sensibility from struggles over self-definition within individuals and, above all, between men and women as increasingly self-conscious groups. He discusses many writers, from Rochester through Hannah More, but pays particular attention to Mary Wollstonecraft as the century's most articulate analyst of the feminized culture of sensibility. Barker-Benfield's book shows how the cultivation of sensibility, while laying foundations for humanitarian reforms generally had as its primary concern the improvement of men's treatment of women. In the eighteenth-century identification of women with "virtue in distress" the author finds the roots of feminism, to the extent that it has expressed women's common sense of their victimization by men Drawing on literature, philosophical psychology, social and economic thought, and a richly developed cultural background, The Culture of Sensibility offers an innovative and compelling way to understand the transformation of British culture in the eighteenth century

    This work provides a complete theory of the emotional processes, explaining how different emotions are elicited and expressed, and how the emotional range of individuals develops over their lifetime.     A partir d'un corpus qui présente un intérêt particulier pour une étude traductologique, l'ouvrage Hussein de Jordanie : Ma « Guerre » avec Israël et ses traductions arabe et anglaise publiés dans les années 60, cette recherche explore la problématique de la traduction du discours politique dans sa dimension émotionnelle et culturelle. En se plaçant dans le paradigme théorique qui prend en compte la dimension sociologique de la traduction qui met à mal le mythe d'une traduction objective et d'un traducteur transparent, ce travail a pour objet d'étudier les traces du traducteur. L'analyse des traces du traducteur, révélatrices d'une manipulation consciente qui cherche à produire un effet de persuasion ou d'une interprétation plus ou moins inconsciente imprégnée des émotions mêmes du traducteur, permet de montrer les transformations que peuvent subir les expressions pathémiques du discours ainsi que les conséquences qui en résultent. A travers une étude comparée de trois versions du livre et une expérimentation qui oppose deux traductions arabes séparées par un laps de temps de 40 ans, nous chercherons les traces que laissent les traducteurs quand ils entretiennent avec l'auteur des rapports de familiarité ou, au contraire, d'étrangeté From a corpus that is of a particular interest for translation studies, the book Hussein de Jordanie: Ma "Guerre" avec Israël and its Arabic and English translations published in the 60s, this research explores the problem of political discourse translation in its cultural and emotional dimension. Based on the theoretical paradigm that takes into account the sociological dimension of translation which undermines the myth of a neutral translation and an invisible translator, this work aims at studying the translator's marks. The analysis of the translator's marks which can reveal either a conscious manipulation that seeks to produce a persuasive effect or a more or less unconscious interpretation permeated by the translator's emotions, can show the changes that pathemic expressions may endure and the consequences resulting there from. Through a comparative study of three versions of the mentioned book and an experiment that opposes two Arabic translations separated by a period of 40 years, we will look for the marks left by translators when they have reports of familiarity or, on the contrary, strangeness with the Author
