    The use of a narrative imperfect in Am 7:10-17 after 7:1-9 and the abrupt shift to 8:1-3 frequently compelled critics to determine its literary form. For diachronic studies defining classifications include ‘third-party report’ and ‘apophthegma’. By contrast, synchronic studies emphasize the contextual integration of Am 7:10-17 and concentrate on a narrative analysis. Within this focus it is striking, that the passage is often associated with a ‘drama’ but without assessing the methodological ramifications of such a claim. The present article takes this ‘synchronic gap’ up and relates it to approaches to view drama as a possible genre for prophetic books. In doing so, a reading of Am 7:10-17 as part of a narrator-mediated discourse using a dramatic mode shows that the passage can be deemed an entrance with three speeches integrated into the wider context of 7:1-8:3. Particularly the classification of 7:10a, 12aα, 14aα as narrator’s discourse using a dramatic mode makes this claim plausible.

    Bei dieser Monographie handelt es sich um eine umfassende Darstellung von imaginären Phänomenen wie Träumen, Visionen und Ekstasen innerhalb der frühbyzantinischen monastischen Literatur. Auf einer breiten Quellenbasis wird das Phänomen nach seiner literarischen Verarbeitung und den sich darin widerspiegelnden kulturgeschichtlichen Hintergründen untersucht. In vier Kapiteln (1. "Aspekte von imaginären Erfahrungen in der monastischen Literatur"; 2. "Bewusstseinszustände und imaginäre Erfahrungen"; 3. "Terminologische und formale Aspekte der imaginären Erfahrungen"; 4. "Vom heidnischen Mantiker zum christlichen Charismatiker") wird die weitreichende Bedeutung imaginärer Erfahrungen innerhalb und außerhalb des monastischen Umfelds sowie der Umgang mit der Thematik vonseiten der sich in der behandelten Zeit etablierenden christlichen Kirche aufgezeigt. Dabei werden verschiedene überkommene Meinungen in der Wissenschaft modifiziert (z.B. Definitionen von Begriffen wie "Vision", "Erscheinung" oder "Traum") und neue Gesichtspunkte erschlossen (z. B. Die Bedeutung der imaginären Erfahrung für die Entwicklung von der ortsgebundenen [inkubatorischen] hin zur ortsungebundenen Traumheilung)

    Scholarship on the book of Daniel has undergone a significant shift since the publication of K. Koch's groundbreaking work, The Rediscovery of Apocalyptic, in 1972. Despite significant achievements in understanding the historical-critical issues of the book, scholarship viewed Daniel's apocalyptic visions as embarrassing. The renaissance in Daniel studies that began in the 1970s has since produced a robust conversation and newer theory-driven insights around well-established areas of interest. These include Daniel's textual traditions and compositional history, the function of its genres, the social settings of its writers, and Daniel's near eastern literary and cultural milieu. New areas of interest identified in the landmark study of J.J. Collins and P.W. Flint (2001; 2002), namely the history of reception and political theologizing, have also gained ground. Daniel's reversal of fortunes is due to new methodologies as well as a fundamental paradigm shift in interpretation; this change has seen Daniel scholarship move away from the search for Daniel's historical meaning, narrowly construed, and toward the quest to understand what Daniel does to and for its readers.

Although the speeches have received more scholarly attention, the many vision accounts reveal an emphasis on sight that is often overlooked by interpreters focused on the prevalence of speech. This article explores the sensory nature of the narratives at the center of Acts, the visions of Saul and Ananias (ch. 9) and Cornelius and Peter (ch. 10), in order to clarify (1) the complex relationship of seeing and hearing in Hellenistic literature, and (2) the rhetorical function of these visions in the narrative of Acts. A brief review of ancient rhetorical and historical literature demonstrates a strong relationship between seeing and hearing in persuasive communication. This subtle interplay between vision and word is evident in the visions of Acts and is a key component of their rhetorical effectiveness.

    Energy transition, precautionary, acceptance, security of supply, visions. Against the background of finite fossil fuels, impacts of climate change, and risks of nuclear energy, the far-reaching transformation of energy systems is essential, but also implies risks and undesired directions, e.g. electricity grid overloads, unaffordability, acceptance problems, or still not known and unexpected surprises. In order to follow the direction being actually intended, the question arises how to guide these processes. In this context, guiding concepts - understood as socially shared, simultaneously desired and deemed feasible ideas of future - can play an important role in energy systems, but they are controversial within the scientific community in terms of whether they can be used consciously to give orientation for transformations. In my dissertation I investigated empirically such guiding orientation processes, in which guiding concepts are specified, then spread and implemented. With the help of social-scientific methods, I examined the effectiveness of these processes and found out that it is possible to guide transformation processes with their help, if certain criteria are considered being represented in my dissertation.
