    Computer industry has opened up all sorts of hybrid spaces and has itself, in turn, become a space for uncountable fantasies and expectations. Which are the principles of cultural order depicted by this desire commonly termed cyberspace?

     

     

    In offering novel narratives of modern architecture the author explains how the digital age couples notions of knowledge, life and future with long-known dimensions of architectonic space.

     

     

    Amongst the issues being discussed the reader will find Boullee's visionary designs, classical modern architecture, museums, shopping malls, science fiction, advertising, CAD, biotechnology and the construction of a utopian cyberspace at the turn of the millennium. Mit der Verbreitung neuer Technologien konstruiert sich der Ausdruck unserer Kultur als ein Gemisch aus Bilder einer virtuellen Realität und solchen der analogen Wirklichkeit. Die Computerwelt hat auf diese Art neue, hybride Räume eröffnet und ist dabei selbst ein Raum für unzählige Phantasien und Erwartungen geworden. Im Mittelpunkt dieser Spannungsfelder vermittelt Architektur zwischen ihren inneren Welten und deren sichtbaren Oberflächen. Damit verbunden stellt sich die Frage, welche gesellschaftlichen und kulturellen Ordungsprinzipien im Begehren nach dem Raum "Virtuellen" abgebildet werden.

     

    Dieses Buch erläutert anhand von neuen Lesarten moderner Architektur, wie auch im digitalen Zeitalter unsere soziale Konstruktion von Wissen, Leben und Zukunft von der Einschreibung dieser Begriffe in die ordnenden Dimensionen des architektonischen Raums abhängig bleibt. Es bietet einen einmaligen Einblick in Praktiken der digitalen Kultur und informiert über die Gefahrenmomente der Ästhetik virtueller Architektur. Das Buch spannt einen Bogen von Boullees Bibliotheksvisionen des 17. Les cultures francophones se positionnent dans ce réseau entre des tendances uniformisatrices au niveau mondial et des stratégies d'adaptation culturelle ou d'expression identitaire spécifiques. Ainsi, on peut observer que la politique française accorde à Internet un rôle stratégique primordial tant au niveau national qu'international, notamment dans le contexte de la Francophonie. Face à ce prolongement d'une ambition historique de l'Hexagone, les nouvelles applications médiatiques favorisent également la mise en réseau de pays francophones hors d'Europe et l'expression d'identités culturelles spécifiques. En outre, les enjeux politiques et identitaires posés dans ce que l'on pourrait dénommer le cyberespace francophone, ces nouvelles formes de communication et d'expression posent un défi aux médias et aux champs artistiques plus traditionnels et, par conséquent, à leur analy se scientifique. Ce volume rassemble des contributions de chercheurs européens, africains et nord-américains pour explorer les enjeux et perspectives ouverts par ce cyber space francophone et pour réfléchir à de nouvelles pistes de recherche dans le domaine des études sur les cultures francophones et leurs médias.

    Abstract: In the present paper, a translational model to psychoanalyze the cyberspace is presented with the argument that cyberspace is a translated version of human unconscious that projects both our unfulfilled desires and suppressed anxieties. This Freudian-based line of argument is followed by Lacanian (1950s) and Zizekian (2004) psychoanalysis to problematize the digitalization of Oedipus complex and the dialectic of castration and subjectivity within the cyberspace. By adopting a fuzzy logic-based approach, it is argued that cyberspace has both a panopticon-like and synopticon-like structure. The former is Oedipal in that it induces a sense of paranoia in the subjects and makes them symbolically castrated, but the latter is anti-Oedipal in that it promotes indeterminacy and pushes the subjects to the climax of self-subjectivity and subversion of the Oedipally determined identities.     Cyber espionage has become a common method for states to gather confidential information in cyberspace. The vast interconnectedness of the Internet provides a target-rich environment for states to engage in low-risk collection of large amounts of data at an unprecedented speed and scale. Cyber espionage may look different from traditional espionage, but it is essentially an expression of the tension between competing states. States use espionage, cyber or otherwise, to strengthen their own position and security in competition with political, military, or economic rivals. In this manner, cyber espionage is best understood as an integral part of an ongoing intelligence contest in cyberspace. This report explores how international law applies to peacetime cyber espionage. By taking stock of recent legal statements by states, this report specifically examines how states have interpreted the principles of territorial sovereignty and non-intervention in the cyber context. The report also analyses the legal implications of provision of intelligence and cyber support to Ukraine by Western states.
