    Die vorliegende Studie verdeutlicht die Relevanz historischer Kommunikationspragmatiken für die Poetik der Kurzerzählungen des Strickers, die am Beginn der deutschsprachigen Novellistik im 13. Jahrhundert stehen. Damit wird der in der Forschung verbreiteten Vorstellung, dass das Interesse mittelalterlicher Kurzerzählungen an sprachlichen Strukturen poetologisch zu deuten sei, eine neue Perspektive entgegengestellt. Die Erzählungen, so wird am Beispiel der in ihnen thematisierten Sprechhandlungen des Beratens, Streitens und religiösen Sprechens herausgearbeitet, loten die diesen kommunikativen Formaten zugrundeliegenden Logiken und Funktionsweisen aus. Damit entwirft die Studie nicht nur einen neuen Zugang zum Werk des Strickers oder zur Gattung der mittelhochdeutschen Kurzepik bzw. Märendichtung, sondern verfolgt zudem methodisch-systematische Fragestellungen in den Bereichen der historischen Narratologie und Medialität. Auf diese Weise leistet sie über den konkreten Untersuchungsgegenstand hinaus einen Beitrag zu zentralen Forschungsfeldern der mediävistischen Literaturwissenschaft

    Abstract: Over the last few years, the organization of public debates in situations of socio-technical or socio-scientific controversy has increased considerably. This should lead to a certain form of social peace due to the fact that each of the stakeholders - including citizens associations - are able to express their ideas and make their voices heard. In such conditions, how can it be that these debates, instead of easing conflicts, are more likely to radicalize the positions of the various parties involved, and to give the groups opposing the projects the feeling of being exploited? Part of the answer lies in the numerous systems aiming at moderating discussions, which may have been set up by the debates organizers not so much in order to prevent participants from going off the rails, but rather to avoid the development of convincing arguments.     Studies on salvation in the Luke 19:1-10 Zacchaean story generally tend to exhibit an underdeveloped analysis of its rhetoric as part of the controversy genre. This paucity reduces salvation to an individual event and ignores the social effect of Lukan salvation in the story. To remedy this, it is here argued that the weight of the controversy genre is felt specifically in the rhetorical use of enthymeme in verse 9, and that Jesus’s enthymemic pronouncement of salvation reveals a social aspect to Zacchaeus’s salvation. The enthymeme supports Zacchaeus’s refutation of the crowd’s position; it insinuates and infers from contrariety and obligates the crowd to distribute honour to Zacchaeus. This function of enthymeme is based on the evidence of first-century rhetors, whose position differs from modern scholarship’s view of the enthymeme as a truncated logical syllogism. Salvation has a social effect. Jesus’s enthymemic pronouncement crowns Zacchaeus’s refutation by calling the crowd to reinterpret Zacchaeus’s social-religious status on the basis of legal precedent.

    Abstract: The relationship between archaeology and other sciences has only recently become a research topic for sociologists and historians of science. From the 1950s to the present day, different approaches have been taken and the aims of research studies have changed considerably. Besides methodological textbooks, which aim at advancing archaeological knowledge, historians of archaeology have tackled this question by exploring the development of archaeology as a scientific discipline. More recently, collaborations between archaeologists and other scientists have been examined as a general phenomenon regarding transfers of knowledge and power relationships between specialists, organizations, and scientific tools, where archaeology is considered as a scientific practice. Adopting a sociohistorical perspective, this entry examines the specificity of aims, facts, and procedures shared by archaeologists and other scientists regarding the crucial question of measuring time and computations

    This study traces the poetics and narrative style of the Stricker’s epics back to the communicative pragmatics of their time. It analyzes depictions of counselling, dispute, and religious speech using approaches from communication theory, narratology, and the history of mediality. In this way, the study links a new interpretation of the Middle High German short story with ideas about the methods of literary theory.

It brings into the public domain over 350 poems, many of which have never before been published. Though most of the texts are poems of satire and invective, others take the form of anti-libels, responding to libellers with orthodox panegyric. These poems throw new light on literary and political culture in England in the decades from the accession of King James I to the outbreak of the English Civil War."
