    Second-person storytelling is a continually present and diverse technique in the history of literature that appears only once in the oeuvre of an author. Based on key narratives of the post-war period, Evgenia Iliopoulou approaches the phenomenon in an inductive way, starting out from the essentials of grammar and rhetoric, and aims to improve the general understanding of second-person narrative within literature. In its various forms and typologies, the second person amplifies and expands the limits of representation, thus remaining a narrative enigma: a small narrative gesture - with major narrative impact.

Dabei wohnt Demenz-Erkrankungen ein nahezu skandalöses und (anti-)literarisches Moment inne: Erkrankte laufen Gefahr, nicht mehr selbst erzählen zu können. An dieser Stelle setzen literarische Demenz-Darstellungen an: Fiktionale wie autobiographische Texte - etwa von Max Frisch, Arno Geiger oder Tilmann Jens - nehmen die Krankheit zum Ausgang poetologischer, gesellschaftspolitischer und moralischer Reflexionen. Doch das Boot bliebe ohne den Wind der Filmmusik mit schlaffem Segel liegen.Benedikt Feiten nutzt Filmwissenschaft, Musikwissenschaft und transnational orientierte Amerikanistik, um deren narrative Funktionen zu ergründen. Er zeigt, wie die Musik ein Erzählsystem stützt, das nicht auf Entwicklung, sondern auf Wiederholung und Variationen aufbaut. Dies eröffnet über Jarmuschs Werk hinaus Ansätze, um alternative filmische Erzählformen aus einer neuen Perspektive zu betrachten.     Von Georges Méliès über Alfred Hitchcock bis hin zu David Lynch - das Motiv der Box taucht in der Filmgeschichte immer wieder auf. Dabei konfrontiert es die BetrachterInnen mit einem medialen Paradox: Die Box ist sichtbar und umschließt zugleich einen Raum, der verborgen bleibt. Als Motiv birgt jede Box eine eigene Geschichte, die sich im Laufe des Films entfaltet. Damit ermöglicht sie eine kritische Perspektive auf das, was scheinbar selbsterklärend vor unseren Augen liegt. Ausgehend von konkreten Filmanalysen untersucht Nepomuk Zettl räumliche Einschlüsse im Film auf ihre narrativen, ästhetischen und epistemologischen Dimensionen und legt damit die erste Studie zu diesem omnipräsenten, aber bislang übersehenen Motiv vor.

    Since ancient Greek-Latin and Judeo-Christian antiquity and also in a constant return to these two traditions the people of Europe have created a great treasure trove of poems. These poems have expressed and shaped the eras of their history. While myth, epic and novel have told the great stories of the world and of the gods, peoples and heroes, the poem created the ego-telling voice at an early age and thus enabled her to make herself heard and accentuated in the great and small events of the time; to try out feelings, attitudes, values and thus to prepare new mentalities.This division of labour between poem and narrative is always kept in view in the lectures of this book, because they use the now developed approaches of narrative research, narratology, to discover the special possibilities of poetry. Thus, one can see more clearly what role poems and songs play in the subjectivization of religion and love since the Reformation, how they promote the liberation of the individual in the Enlightenment, how they promote a new religion of nature and art, how they stimulate the nationalism of the 19th century and how to adopt new attitudes in the process of modern civilization with daring experiments. The specialist disciplines have distributed this common treasure among themselves and thus almost lost sight of it. The public lecture, however, has made it visible to those involved, always using the example and in a language accessible to all, which has been preserved in this book.

    Why do we play games and why do we play them on computers? The contributors of »Games and Rules« take a closer look at the core of each game and the motivational system that is the game mechanics. Games are control circuits that organize the game world with their (joint) players and establish motivations in a dedicated space, a »Magic Circle«, whereas game mechanics are constructs of rules designed for interactions that provide gameplay. Those rules form the base for all the excitement and frustration we experience in games. This anthology contains individual essays by authors with backgrounds in Game Design and Game Studies, who lead the discourse to get to the bottom of game mechanics in video games and the real world.

Christina Lammer zeichnet die beiden Aspekte als zentrale Themenkomplexe systematisch nach und bietet neben einer Einführung in das Gesamtwerk auch neue Sichtweisen auf die Hauptwerke der Autorin. So macht sie ersichtlich, wie die untersuchte Prosa anspielungsreich sinnstiftende Prozesse von Erinnerungskonstruktionen hinterfragt und dabei die Bedeutung intersektionaler Biographien literarischer Figuren - als Resultate struktureller Diskriminierungen und Privilegierungen - inszeniert.

    Die vorliegende Studie verdeutlicht die Relevanz historischer Kommunikationspragmatiken für die Poetik der Kurzerzählungen des Strickers, die am Beginn der deutschsprachigen Novellistik im 13. Jahrhundert stehen. Damit wird der in der Forschung verbreiteten Vorstellung, dass das Interesse mittelalterlicher Kurzerzählungen an sprachlichen Strukturen poetologisch zu deuten sei, eine neue Perspektive entgegengestellt. Die Erzählungen, so wird am Beispiel der in ihnen thematisierten Sprechhandlungen des Beratens, Streitens und religiösen Sprechens herausgearbeitet, loten die diesen kommunikativen Formaten zugrundeliegenden Logiken und Funktionsweisen aus. Damit entwirft die Studie nicht nur einen neuen Zugang zum Werk des Strickers oder zur Gattung der mittelhochdeutschen Kurzepik bzw. Märendichtung, sondern verfolgt zudem methodisch-systematische Fragestellungen in den Bereichen der historischen Narratologie und Medialität. Auf diese Weise leistet sie über den konkreten Untersuchungsgegenstand hinaus einen Beitrag zu zentralen Forschungsfeldern der mediävistischen Literaturwissenschaft
