    Genderaspekte in der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur sind gesellschaftspolitisch besonders relevant, da im Kindes- und Jugendalter die entscheidenden Gender-Prägungen stattfinden und hierbei Medien eine wichtige Rolle spielen. Dies gilt umso mehr, als Kinder- und Jugendliteratur stets Hand in Hand mit den jeweils herrschenden pädagogischen Diskursen ging und bis heute von dem Auftrag geleitet ist, die Sozialisation von Heranwachsenden zu begleiten.Der vorliegende Band stellt erstmals die deutschsprachige Kinder- und Jugendliteratur in ihrer diachronen Entwicklung vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart unter Genderaspekten dar. Die Kapitel zu den einzelnen Epochen geben dabei jeweils Überblicke über die relevanten Diskurse der Zeit und stellen exemplarisch wichtige Werke unter der Genderperspektive vor. Indem gezeigt wird, wie Kinder- und Jugendliteratur einerseits die herrschenden gesellschaftlichen Genderkonstrukte reflektiert und andererseits neue Konzepte oder gar Utopien entwirft, widmet sich der Band einem aktuellen Thema, das über kulturwissenschaftliche Fragen hinausweist. ; ger

    Campus Medius erforscht und erweitert die Möglichkeiten der digitalen Kartografie in den Kultur- und Medienwissenschaften. Simon Ganahl dokumentiert die Entwicklung des Projekts von einer historischen Fallstudie zur Mapping-Plattform. Ausgehend von der Frage, was eine mediale Erfahrung ist, werden die Konzepte des Dispositivs und des Akteur-Netzwerks in ein Datenmodell übersetzt. Als Labor dient ein Zeit-Raum von 24 Stunden im Mai 1933 in Wien, der von einer austrofaschistischen »Türkenbefreiungsfeier« geprägt ist. Diese Massenkundgebung wird multiperspektivisch kartografiert und in medienhistorische Netzwerke eingeflochten, die sich vom 17. Jahrhundert bis in unsere Gegenwart aufspannen.

    Campus Medius explores and expands the possibilities of digital cartography in cultural and media studies. Simon Ganahl documents the development of the project from a historical case study to a mapping platform. Based on the question of what a media experience is, the concepts of the apparatus (dispositif) and the actor-network are translated into a data model. A time-space of twenty-four hours in Vienna in May 1933, marked by a so-called »Turks Deliverance Celebration« (Türkenbefreiungsfeier), serves as an empirical laboratory. This Austrofascist rally is mapped from multiple perspectives and woven into media-historical networks, spanning from the seventeenth century up to the present day.

Vor allem Kinder- und Jugendliteraturforschung sowie Literaturdidaktik haben davon profitiert. Doch wie hängen Adoleszenz und Alterität zusammen? Die Beiträger*innen erarbeiten anhand von exemplarischen literatur- und medienwissenschaftlichen Analysen Anknüpfungspunkte zwischen Adoleszenz und interkulturellen sowie postkolonialen Fragestellungen und greifen aktuelle Themen wie z.B. Flucht, Migration, Rassismus oder (post-)koloniale Erfahrungen auf. Dabei werden auch didaktische Überlegungen im Sinne eines rassismussensiblen, interkulturellen Unterrichts in den Fokus gerückt.

    In the early modern Low Countries, literary culture functioned on several levels simultaneously: it provided learning, pleasure, and entertainment while also shaping public debate. From a ditty in Dutch sung in the streets to a funeral poem in Latin composed to be read for or by intimate friends, from a play performed for a prince to a comedy written for pupils literary texts and performances often dealt with highly controversial topics of religion or politics, on a local or national, but also on a supranational scale. This volume sets out to analyse the role and function of literary culture in the formation of early modern public opinion, and proposes ways in which a modern scholar might approach early modern works of literature and other traces of literary culture to explore early modern public opinion making.     "This book traces the enduring relationship between history, people and place that has shaped the character of a single region in a manner perhaps unique within the New Zealand experience. It explores the evolution of a distinctive regional literature that both shaped and was shaped by the physical and historical environment that inspired it. Looking westwards towards Australia and long shut off within New Zealand by the South Island’s rugged Southern Alps, the West Coast was a land of gold, coal and timber. In the 1950s and 1960s, it nurtured a literature that embodied a sense of belonging to an Australasian world and captured the aspirations of New Zealand’s emergent radical nationalism. More recent West Coast writers, observing the hollowing out of their communities, saw in miniature and in advance the growing gulf between city and regional economies aligned to an older economic order losing its relevance. Were they chronicling the last hurrah of a retreating age or crafting a literature of regional resistance? "

    Comparisons not only prove fundamental in the epistemological foundation of modernity (Foucault, Luhmann), but they fulfil a central function in social life and the production of art. Taking a cue from the Practice Turn in sociology, the contributors are investigating the role of comparative practices in the formation of eighteenth-century literature and culture. The book conceives of social practices of comparing as being entrenched in networks of circulation of bodies, artefacts, discourses, and ideas, and aims to investigate how such practices ordered and changed British literature and culture during the long eighteenth century.

Diesem Defizit will der Band in seiner Verbindung von wissenschaftstheoretischer Fundierung und praktischen Beispielen abhelfen. Bei aller Vielfalt der Ansätze zeigen sich auch zahlreiche Gemeinsamkeiten, beispielsweise im Hinblick auf die Ablehnung eines homogenen Kulturbegriffs.     Aberrations of Reason. Capitalist Rationality and its Critique in Juha Seppälä’s Novels Yhtiökumppanit (The Partners, 2002), Paholaisen haarukka (Devil’s Fork, 2008) and Mr. Smith (2012). Juha Seppälä’s early literary works, published in the 1980s and in the early 1990s, usually described spiritually lonely men who suffered from an existential loss of meaning and serious alienation problems in the modern world. After this, Seppälä turned to deal with the transformation of the Finnish way of life and its cultural base, until after the turn of the new millennium he began to critically judge society’s ongoing marketization process. This study analyses his capitalism-critical works, particularly his novels Yhtiökumppanit (The Partners, 2002), Paholaisen haarukka (Devil’s Fork, 2008) and Mr. Smith (2012). These works do not, primarily, consider contemporary market capitalism from a class perspective, although this sort of perspective is also included in them. They are, above all, critical of market capitalist rationality. According to Seppälä, the basic problem of modern economic profit-seeking lies in the fact that in its unchecked form it is largely indifferent with respect to existential, moral, social and ecological values and principles. Free market economy or market capitalism has, therefore, a destructive influence on individuals, communities and ecological systems. The novels at issue emphasize that due to this it is also, in a deeper sense, incapable of producing existentially meaningful ways of life.
