    This article presents a synthetic and structured view of the determination of law, aligned with the line of thought named methodical realism, which I subscribe. It also offers a critical view of other ius-philosophical lines of thought, which oppose to this rational method of finding what is fair. Nevertheless, the body of the article includes: a) an organized view on the necessity of affronting the judicial decision according to the postulates of the practical reason; b) a study of the different instruments offered to the interpreter for the determination of law; c) an ontological view of Law or the nature of things as the base for legal reasoning; and d) the methodology of the determination of Law, understood as a complex process of factual development and legal reasoning intended to determine what is fair in any particular case.

    Traces the history of racial caricature and the ways that Black cartoonists have turned this visual grammar on its headRevealing the long aesthetic tradition of African American cartoonists who have made use of racist caricature as a black diasporic art practice, Rebecca Wanzo demonstrates how these artists have resisted histories of visual imperialism and their legacies. Moving beyond binaries of positive and negative representation, many black cartoonists have used caricatures to criticize constructions of ideal citizenship in the United States, as well as the alienation of African Americans from such imaginaries. The Content of Our Caricature urges readers to recognize how the wide circulation of comic and cartoon art contributes to a common language of both national belonging and exclusion in the United States.Historically, white artists have rendered white caricatures as virtuous representations of American identity, while their caricatures of African Americans are excluded from these kinds of idealized discourses. Employing a rich illustration program of color and black-and-white reproductions, Wanzo explores the works of artists such as Sam Milai, Larry Fuller, Richard "Grass" Green, Brumsic Brandon Jr., Jennifer Cruté, Aaron McGruder, Kyle Baker, Ollie Harrington, and George Herriman, all of whom negotiate and navigate this troublesome history of caricature. The Content of Our Caricature arrives at a gateway to understanding how a visual grammar of citizenship, and hence American identity itself, has been constructed

    Abstract: "What can be done with life stories?" This question was posed by Daniel Bertaux (1981) in the introduction to his "Biography and Society". At that time, research interest in life stories was largely concerned with using them as sources of information about a reality existing outside the text. Meanwhile, however, especially in West Germany, this question has taken on another meaning: the life story itself, seen as a socical construct in its own right, has increasingly become the focus of socialsientific research. Empirically founded concepts and programmatic outlines of biographical theory have been put up for discussion by sociologists like Martin Kohli, Fritz Schütze, and Wolfram Fischer-Rosenthal to name a few. Methodology and methods of reconstructing life histories out of oral biographical presentations have been developed continously; the method of obtaining narrative interviews as presented by Fritz Schütze (1977; 1983) is meanwhile established in sociological methods.
