"Though Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari were not strictly art historians, they reinvigorated ontological and formal approaches to art, and simultaneously borrowed art historical concepts for their own philosophical work. They were dedicated modernists, inspired by the German school of expressionist art historians such as Riegl, Wölfflin, and Worringer and the great modernist art critics such as Rosenberg, Steinberg, Greenberg, and Fried. The work of Deleuze and Guattari on mannerism and Baroque art has led to new approaches to these artistic periods, and their radical transdisciplinarity has influenced contemporary art like no other philosophy before it. Their work therefore raises important methodological questions on the differences and relations among philosophy, artistic practice, and art history. In 'Art History after Deleuze and Guattari' international scholars from all three fields explore what a 'Deleuzo-Guattarian art history' could be today"--Page 4 of cover

"Deleuze and Guattari's work has today become ubiquitous in the humanities and social sciences, being regularly drawn on by a vast array of subjects. Throughout their careers, Deleuze and Guattari also engaged with a myriad of disciplines; yet they declared themselves that "Philosophy is not interdisciplinary". This apparent contradiction has rarely been explicitly confronted by scholars. Fortunately, however, Deleuze and Guattari left us a number of clues in their works signaling how to approach this apparent impasse. These clues amount to a complex and penetrating, if un-unified, theory of disciplinarity and cross-disciplinary articulation. Energized by recent developments in critical transdisciplinarity studies, this volume analyzes and evaluates instances of disciplinarity and transdisciplinarity within Deleuze and Guattari's shared and respective bodies of work. The first volume in English specifically devoted to examining Deleuze and Guattari's work using this framework, this book both contributes to the field of critical transdisciplinarity studies and in doing so helps shed light on the heart of Deleuze and Guattari's intellectual project."--

Deleuze & Guattari, Politics and Education mobilizes Deleuzian-Guattarian philosophy as a revolutionary alternative to the lingering forms of transcendence, identity politics, and nihilism endemic to Western thought. Operationalizing Deleuze and Guattari's challenge to contemporary philosophy, this book presents their view as a revolutionary alternative to the lingering forms of transcendence, identity politics, and nihilism endemic to the current state of Western formal education. This book offers an experimental approach to theorizing, creating an entirely new way for educational theorists t

Putting Deleuze and Guattari’s concepts to wide-ranging use, leading trans theorists and activists develop innovative ways of thinking about trans identities, and the processes involved in liberating desires from the gendered ego. The first volume of its kind covers a broad mix of subjects including transecology, corporalities of betweenness, black transversality, toxic masculinity, and transvestism. Led by the overarching concept of schizonalaysis and responding to the need to move beyond the hetero-patriarchy currently dominating both progressive and regressive discourse, Ciara Cremin outlines the potential for radical departure from the status quo concerning gender identity, sex, bodies, and politics. Arguing that trans people are at the forefront of debates on gendered dichotomies as a result of becoming something other than their assigned gender, Cremin and her contributors theorise the possibility of a society which does not rely on gendered forms of oppression for its existence. Deleuze, Guattari and the Schizoanalysis of Trans Studies is an essential, ground-breaking resource for theorists, activists and students interested in trans theory today.
