    This work offers a detailed analysis of the Slavic translation of a sixth-century Greek liturgical poem that is representative of the poetic genius of the best of the Byzantine melodes. The immediate goal has been to discover to what degree the poetic elements of the original text were reproduced in the translation. The analysis illuminates the question of the quality of the Slavic translations of Byzantine liturgical hymns.

"Euclid's Elements is one of the canonical texts that shaped our cultural heritage. It was translated from Greek into Arabic and from Arabic into Hebrew and Latin. There is little agreement about the textual history of the Arabic translations. The present book offers for the first time a critical edition of two Hebrew translations of Books I-II, by Moses Ibn Tibbon and by "Rabbi Jacob". A serious attempt is made to learn from the Hebrew translations also about the history of the Arabic text. The edition of Ibn Tibbon's translation is accompanied by an Arabic text which was probably its source. Rabbi Jacob's translation is compared to the Latin translation ascribed to Adelard of Bath, probably based on the same Arabic tradition"--

    Illustriertes Handbuch für Einsteiger in die Digitalfotografie, das verständlich ein breites Spektrum an aktuellem Grundlagenwissen vermittelt: Kameratechnik, Zubehör, Belichtung, Bildgestaltung, Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie, Motive, Nachbearbeitung am PC u.a.m. (Elke Nibbrig) Diese gewichtige Neuerscheinung des Fotobuchautors Hennemann (zuletzt BA 7/08) erscheint in direkter Konkurrenz zu Christian Westphalen: "Die große Fotoschule" (ID-A 5/11). Beide Werke decken auf sehr verständlichem Niveau ein breites Spektrum an aktuellem Grundlagenwissen zur Digitalfotografie ab, wie Kameratechnik, Objektive, Zubehör, Schärfe, Belichtung, Bildgestaltung, Motive, Nachbearbeitung am PC u.a.m., gehen auch auf fortgeschrittenere Techniken und Spezialgebiete wie Blitztechnik, Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie ein, kommen beide in einem ansprechenden Layout mit attraktiven Bildbeispielen daher und bieten eine nützliche DVD-ROM-Beilage. Die Unterschiede liegen im Detail: Hennemann hat etwas mehr den Fotografie-Einsteiger im Auge mit Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitungen, Rezeptsammlungen, Zusammenfassungen und vielen Praxistipps für schnelle Erfolgserlebnisse. Westphalen geht mehr in die Tiefe, bietet mehr Hintergrundwissen und Detailkenntnisse, spricht damit den ambitionierten Amateur mit der digitalen Spiegelreflexkamera an, ist im Gesamteindruck ansprechender und aussagekräftiger bebildert.
