    Abstract: While the growing body of research on Tan Twan Eng's The Gift of Rain (2009) focuses on the protagonist, Philip Hutton's traumatic condition, his Chinese identity, and his ambiguous identity, this study devotes particular attention to the complexity of interactions between various cultures practised by Philip. This study aims to address this gap by applying the concept of transculturalism to analyse the processes of acquiring a foreign culture and incorporating the foreign culture into traditional cultures experienced by Philip. In other words, this study employs the concept of transculturalism to examine multicultural depictions in the novel. Scholars, such as Khan, Tiwari, Sheoran and Tan C. S. who have examined multicultural depictions in various literary texts, have found that multicultural circumstances cause certain ethnic groups to lose their cultures and identities. It focuses on these features of Forough’s poem from a different point of view towards social issues. This article studies the social meanings of Forough’s poem that are specialized for her. It tries to show the feminism poem which is unique in Iran. After these survey, the article tries to assert that Forough Frokhzad is the most social female poet in Iran; Forough with her courage and boldness used a kind of norm breaking through her poems and speak about social issues.     Abstract: "This report summarizes deliberations over the Protection of Traditional Knowledge held during a stakeholder dialogue process launched by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in 2001/2002. The dialogue process was designed to explore options of companies to address contested issues of intellectual property in their business strategies. To that end, companies were exposed to the concerns of stakeholders and urged to define responses to these concerns. The project involved major companies and transnational nongovernmental organizations as well as renowned experts in the field of intellectual property rights. This paper briefly sketches the project and the process of the Dialogue. The products of the process are the opinions, both concurring and dissenting, that the participants reached on the Protection of Traditional Knowledge, subsumed in the final report to the WBCSD that emerged from the project.     Abstract: Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird versucht, zwei Forschungstraditionen zur moralischen Entwicklung einander gegenüberzustellen. Dabei wird vor allem das Problem erörtert, wie wir eine Unterscheidung treffen können zwischen mehr oder weniger gültigen moralischen Normen. Von der einen Tradition aus, die Kohlberg folgt, ist eine höhere Autorität nämlich Vernunft, das wesentliche Entscheidungskriterium. Diese führt laut Kohlberg zu einer Moral, die auf dem Prinzip der Gerechtigkeit beruht. Der erzähltheoretische Ansatz hingegen betrachtet den Diskurs als das entscheidende Validiäitskriterium für moralische Normen. Genauer gesagt ist es das Prinzip der Beantwortbarkeit, das dazu führt, daß Normen im Diskurs verhandelt werden müssen und daß Abweichungen von der Norm oder Änderungen von Normen in diesem begründet werden müssen. Erzählungen werden als die spezifische Art und Weise betrachtet wie Sprache unsere moralischen Erfahrungen formt. Anhand einiger kurzer Beispiele aus einer empirischen

    Abstract: Der Bericht beinhaltet die Diskussionen und Ergebnisse des Workshops 'Öffentliche Bereiche, öffentlicher Islam und Modernitäten', der im Oktober 2002 an der Universität Bielefeld stattfindet. Das Ziel des Austausches ist die Auflösung der klassischen Dichotomie von Tradition und Modernität im Kontext der Religion und hier insbesondere des Islams, der regelmäßig mit Tradition und prä-modernem Leben in Verbindung gebracht wird. Statt dessen gilt es, die wachsende Bedeutung religiöser Organisationen als Akteure im öffentlichen Bereich in Bezug zu den inneren Dynamiken der Globalisierung und somit der Modernität anzusehen. Die Präsentationen der Teilnehmer basieren auf empirischen Feldforschungen in muslimischen Gesellschaften und werfen Fragen über die spezifische Konstitution des öffentlichen Bereiches im Rahmen der Bedeutung politischer Religion in einer globalisierten Welt auf.     Abstract: Eugenia Kim’s The Calligrapher's Daughter (2009) is a well-received East Asian novel about a Korean Christian, Najin's encounter with western culture. As an aristocratic woman, she is expected to uphold Korean tradition. However, as Najin realises that she is culturally marginalised by her father and the Korean traditional society mainly due to her gender, she picks up a foreign culture introduced to her, western culture. This move is extremely significant because after Najin driven by cultural marginalisation to embrace western culture, her cultural practices are no longer the same with traditional Korean women. This important turn of the novel has not been explored by scholars extensively. Thus, this study aims to depart from the cultural marginalisation faced by Najin. A traditional postmodernist as some of the critics calls him; he was obsessed with Scheherazade the narrator of the Thousand and one Nights and her art of storytelling. This essay aims to depict Barth's employment of the frame narrative and embedding structure which are the main devices of Scheherazade's mystifying narratives. He uses these emblems in order to subvert their meanings and manifest the discrepancies between characters' living in the West and the realities they confront. In his play, A Lie of the Mind, Sam Shepard reflects on the traditional meanings of myth and the erasure of them in the postmodern societies. Furthermore, the postmodern universe in these three plays is bombarded with representation and distortions of reality, and hyperreality which make reality be masked and obscure. Migration separates one from their mother land towards an alien land, where it is marked by new culture and new adjustments. Bharathi Mukherjee's novel wife portrays an immigrant looking back to her mother country with pain and nostalgia. Bharathi Mukherjee had beautifully carved the shapes of the characters that even a normal reader feels the presence of their tribulations as the personal grievances. The present article focuses on the trials and tribulations experienced by the Indian woman migrating to alien lands after her marriage.
