    Abstract: "In dieser Studie werden Konzept und Realisierung der japanischen Regulationspraxis analysierr sowie ihre Auswirkungen auf den internationalen Handel und die Ursachen für den langsamen Fortschritt der Deregulation. Dabei wird die Meinung vertreten, dass als Folge der informellen Macht der japanischen Bürokratie mit ihrem großen Ermessensspielraum, kombiniert mit der fortdauernden Beeinflussung des regulatorischen Systems, sowohl hohe Preise als auch die Abschottung der japanischen Märkte vor Importen aufrechterhalten werden. Außerdem ist zu berücksichtigen, dass die nur schwach entwickelte japanische Anti-Trust-Politik den Kartellen die Möglichkeit gibt, eine einflussreiche Rolle bei der Regulierung der Märkte zu spielen, vor allem in der Stahl- und Chemiebranche. Auch wenn einige Liberalisierungsinitiativen durchaus erkennbare regulatorische Reformen gebracht haben, so haben sie doch nicht das japanische regulatorische System in seiner prinzipiellen Wirkungsweise verändert.     Abstract: Whereas the impact of Brexit on Anglophone Africa was a major issue in the controversial British discussions on the pros and cons of Brexit, possible repercussions on French-speaking Africa have been rarely mentioned up to now. Yet, the range of possible Brexit effect is impressive, including the revival of progressive social networks in Francophone Africa. The latter are already demanding more political and economic sovereignty, for example with respect to the increasingly anachronistic F CFA currency. Yet, in view of the lack of countervailing power of Britain within the EU in the case of Brexit, the murky network of Françafrique could be re-vitalized and consolidated as well. Finally, the Brexit and its spread-effects could also impact negatively on acquired human rights, both in Europe and in Africa.     Abstract: "This paper argues that although there are good reasons why poor countries in Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA) should support their agricultural sector, applicability of protective policies in the agricultural sectors of SSA is limited by various legal, economic, social, political and administrative reasons. The remaining scope, however, could be used to develop prospective agricultural sub-sectors for growth, poverty alleviation and food security, while protection should be embodied in comprehensive development strategies. These strategies must address the problems of low price transmittance of border measures and high transaction costs (in the largest sense) for agricultural products and particularly the limited supply capacity of small scale producers. Legally, trade policy in the case study country Senegal as well as in many other SSA countries is restricted much more by regional trade agreements than by the World Trade Organization (WTO).
