    Abstract: The proceedings of the conference of the same name assemble papers concentrating largely on Franco-Jewish autobiography in the last few decades. Relevant literature in English and German is also discussed. In addition, three Italian authors of autobiographies comment on their own works. The theoretical reflection undertaken in the volume either accompanies the analysis of individual works or takes a broader view. It centres (a) on the relationship between autobiography and 'auto-fiction', and (b) on the fundamental issue of what we precisely mean when we speak of 'Jewish autobiographies'

    Abstract: Fanfiction is the creative appropriation and transformation of existing popular media texts by fans who take stories, worlds and/or characters as starting points and create their own stories based on them. As a cultural field of practice, fanfiction questions prevalent concepts of individual authorship and proprietary of cultural goods. At the same time, fanfiction itself is challenged. Through processes of mediatization, fanfiction grew and became increasingly visible. Third parties, ranging from the media industry (e.g., film studios) and copyright holders to journalism and academia, are interested in fanfiction and are following its development. We regard fanfiction communities and fan acting as fields for experimentation and as discursive arenas which can help understand what appropriating, writing and publishing in a digital culture and the future of writing might look like.     Abstract: Gegenstand des Beitrags sind die kommunikativen Elemente des äußeren Layouts eines Buches - der paratextuelle Aufbau und dessen performative Ästhetisierungen - am Beispiel von Autobiographien. Die Relevanz autobiographischer Paratexte für die Autor-Leser-Kommunikation resultiert aus ihrer selbstaffirmativen Funktion autobiographischer Selbstverpflichtung. Autobiographische Paratexte inszenieren ihren Gegenstand. Sie umfassen Titel, Untertitel, Gattungsbezeichnung, 'Waschzettel' und Vorworte. Die paratextuellen Elemente von Autobiographien werden hier exemplarisch anhand der Autobiographien des ostdeutschen Historikers Fritz Klein und des westdeutschen Verlegers Wolf Jobst Siedler untersucht. Durch die autobiographischen Paratexte, so wird deutlich, werden rund um das eigentliche Haupttextgeschehen komplexe Referenzen auf textueller und visueller Ebene aufgebaut, mit denen die Person des Autobiographen in ihrer Authentizität inszeniert werden soll.     Abstract: Intellektuelles Engagement wird in Frankreich häufig mit männlichen Akteuren und einem couragierten Eintreten für die universellen Werte der Aufklärung assoziiert. Schon im frühmodernen Frankreich des 17. Jahrhunderts waren jedoch auch Frauen - entgegen bestehender Standes- und Geschlechterkonventionen - intellektuell tätig. Als Schriftstellerinnen und Salonbetreiberinnen thematisierten einige von ihnen die Ungleichheit von Frauen und Männern und entwarfen Modelle für respektvollere Geschlechterbeziehungen. Eine dieser - sowohl in anerkennendem wie auch in spöttischem Sinne - als "Preziöse" bezeichneten Frauen war die Schriftstellerin Madeleine de Scudéry. Da sie sich in ihrem literarischen Werk und auch in ihren persönlichen Lebensentscheidungen in unkonventioneller und reflektierter Weise mit für Frauen sehr problematischen Themen wie "Bildung", "Ehe" oder "Schreiben und Publizieren" auseinandersetzte, stellt sie gleichzeitig eine Ausnahmefigur ihrer Zeit und den Prototyp einer f

    Abstract: As one of the outstanding Iranian playwrights, Akbar Radi (1939-2007) is known to be influenced by Henrik Ibsen and Anton Chekhov. Occasionally by his critics, he was called as "The Persian Chekhov" but they never expounded comprehensively the details of the given epithet which might be derived from similarities, influences and inspirations among Radi and Chekov. By analyzing these similarity cases, this essay attempts to figure out whether this resemblance is resulted from the conscious impressionability.     Abstract: "Using the case-study of Odyssey Editions, an e-book publishing imprint created by literary agent Andrew Wylie, this work examines recent developments in the U.S. literary field. In lieu of a technologically deterministic focus on the effects of digital transitions within the book industry, the evolution of relations within the field's interdependent network structure, shifts in cognitive approaches to tasks and roles, and fieldwide institutional orientations toward 'blockbuster' texts and 'brand-name' authors are highlighted.     Abstract: In his Discipline and Punish (1995), Foucault describes the plague-stricken city where authorities exercised surveillance to control the contagion of the disease. As Foucault states, the first precaution to take was the strict division of space which led to the isolation of dwellers; this spatial partitioning reinforced the notion of pervasive surveillance and paved the way for the modern disciplinary society of which Panopticon was an ideal architectural embodiment. In this paper, we try to show how a combination of the plague-ridden city’s discipline diagrams and Panopticism make the whole scene of Auster's Ghosts. By focusing on the role of writing in power mechanisms depicted in the novel, we illustrate the power-knowledge relations which involve the characters in the process of subjectification and which construct the subject position of the author (Blue) who acts as the (in) visible eye of authority. Er versucht, einige der Gründe aufzuzeigen, "bei der Darstellung von Forschungsergebnissen einiges zu vermeiden und anderes zu bevorzugen". Dabei konzentriert er sich auf die im engeren Sinne hermeneutisch arbeitenden Sozialforscher - "auf die objektiven, strukturalen oder sozialwissenschaftlichen Hermeneuten, Forscher also, deren Forschungspraxis vor allem aus der detaillierten sequenzanalytischen Deutung von Texten besteht... Für diese Hermeneuten ergeben sich - werden sie als Autoren tätig - aufgrund der Besonderheit der eigenen methodologischen Verortung ganz besondere Aufgaben, die sich in dieser Form für die anderen Sozial- und Naturforscher (welche natürlich auch, wenn auch implizit hermeneutisch arbeiten) nicht stellen." This book is the first to discuss the construction of gender and Islamic identities in literary writing by four prominent Indonesian Muslim women writers: Titis Basino P I, Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim, Abidah El Kalieqy and Helvy Tiana Rosa. The narratives of the four writers are rich sources for revealing the construction of Indonesian Muslim women's identities. Within their feminist reading the writers understand that gender roles are negotiable rather than inherent.
