'Coffee' centres around the death of a child and asks disturbing questions about the history of the twentieth century, through an examination of what constitutes acceptable behaviour towards children in our time. 'Coffee' was first staged in 2000 at Le Théâtre National de la Colline in Paris. It is the first play in Bond's 'The Paris Pentad' (originally called 'The Colline Tetralogy'), and is followed by 'The Crime of the Twenty-First Century', 'Born', and 'People'.

'Derek' is a short farce with the significance of social commentary, telling a story of waste and exploitation. The play is a comic but sharp critique of social stratifications which allow those with a privileged background to steal the life and self of those less fortunate, and send them to die in wars they do not understand. 'Derek' was first performed in 1982 at the Royal Shakespeare Company's Youth Festival at The Other Place, Stratford-Upon-Avon.

'Olly's Prison' is a hard and painful vision of a selfish and disconnected society from which is it impossible to escape. Mike tries to talk to his daughter and get her to drink the cup of tea he has made. She will not answer, or drink it, or even move. And suddenly their world turns to tragedy. Many of the scenes are set in prison, as Mike is incarcerated for his crime, but it seems the greater and more profound prison is outside. While incarcerated, Mike is denied suicide; when released, he is denied freedom. 'Olly's Prison', first broadcast by BBC TV in 1993, is a bleak condemnation of society's helpless inhumanity.

At the beginning of the 'The Swing', one of the characters explains that in Kentucky in 1911 a black man was charged with murder and lynched on the stage of the local theatre. Bond's short play sparingly stylises this true story into a powerful and profoundly shocking drama. Bond draws a detailed picture of the quotidian injustice of a community which can condone violent murder and drive people to madness. 'The Swing' was first presented in 1976 at Inter-Action's Almost Free Theatre, London.
