    Letter by General William Brattle, major-general of the Militia of Great Britain in Massachusetts, who was accused of notifying Governor Thomas Gage that the gunpowder stored in Cambridge should be removed. Brattle denied this in this public letter, although he further indicated that in fact orders for its removal subsequently occurred. Ultimately he stated he was driven from his home in Cambridge and moved to Boston
