    Creative capacity in the field of regional sciences means the capability of any region to generate knowledge and thus to achieve innovation and the diffusion of the output of the innovative activity while obtaining the viability and sustainability of this process. Although creative capacity studies mainly focus on urban regions, the late rural studies and empirical evidences showed that rural region has a great potential capacity in terms of its five components viz. knowledge; innovation; entrepreneurship; creativity; and networks. But, these opportunities have shown by a rural specific approach rather than an urban approach. On this basis, by taking into consideration these discussions in the literature, we assume that the rural creative capacity can be evaluated by the recent changes in rural regions that show the capability of rural regions to exploit its knowledge as an output. On this purpose, in this study, we aim to evaluate which component is relatively important to identify the level of rural creative capacity. Therefore, the study focuses on 60 villages from Europe and 17 villages from Turkey by deploying the data obtained from the in-depth questionnaires. This study is a first attempt at settlement level with an optimistic approach to measure the opportunities lying at the heart of rural regions. The results of the study showed that creativity in terms of traditions is the most important component in both cases while European villages have more opportunities and do not have the latent rural problems while Turkish villages are still suffering from the well-known rural problems that their capacity exists but it is very limited.

    This paper aims to investigate the diverse attitudes, career motivations and perceived leadership skills of university students in the Netherlands and to analyse, compare and valuate their interest in entrepreneurship, inter alia on the basis of gender and ethnic differences. Since the main factors that affect career choice tend to begin early in life, this paper focuses essentially on the next generation of entrepreneurs, in particular on their career motivations, attitudes and self-perceptions.

    Entrepreneurs as the dominant employment source in rural areas play a crucial role, not only in the continuity of the rural economy but also in the continuity of rural life. The aim of this study is first to explore the profile of rural entrepreneurs, and second to identify the most important factors that determine their different embeddedness levels in rural areas. To achieve this aim, we will first use descriptive statistical techniques, and later on one of the artificial intelligence methods, i.e. rough set data analysis in order to investigate 255 entrepreneurs from Turkish rural areas on the basis of the data obtained from in-depth questionnaire interviews. This study is the first attempt to evaluate rural entrepreneurs and their place in rural areas. Descriptive statistics on entrepreneurs show that the gender gap and the education problem still exist in many villages, although depopulation is somewhat imited due to the motivation of entrepreneurs. However, most entrepreneurs want to stay in their villages: they have stated that the continuity and the success of their entrepreneurial activity are very much related to the social relations and their involvement in the village social life. According to the results of our second analysis, embeddedness and disembeddedness of entrepreneurs are strongly associated with the remoteness of villages, the personal profile, and the use of external information by entrepreneurs.

    This paper aims to map out the consequences of migration flows for modern cities, and in particular it analyses various aspects of urban cultural diversity. It argues that the sustainable and innovative development of cities under conditions of creative cultures is possible, and it presents a pentagon model as an analytical tool for investigating the necessary conditions for achieving a balanced and thriving urban development. The paper also pays attention to the socio-economic aspects of urban pluriformity caused by the emergence of ethnic or migrant entrepreneurs. The paper presents an integrated overview of the advantages and drawbacks of cultural diversity in relation to mass migration inflows into modern cities. A major part of the paper is devoted to the positive and negative socio-economic implications of cultural diversity. To that end, a series of extensive survey tables is provided. Finally, the relationship between diversity and innovativeness is addressed.

    In many countries, rural areas have shown a new spatial-economic dynamics that has meant a contrast with the traditional urban-rural dichotomy. In particular, the need to use economicecological sustainability as a guiding principle for new rural development is a prominent feature. But how will rural areas, sometimes suffering from lack of economic development, peripheral positions and relatively low social well-being is able to face new challenges? Can they be attractive, innovative and developed (hot spots), while maintaining their sustainability and continuity? This question was the background in conducting our research. Hence, this study aims to answer this question in three steps, viz. (i) offering a contemporary overview, (ii) identifying the critical factors for and defining the driving forces of sustainable rural development and (iii) developing a set of sustainable development scenarios. The first step includes a new concept for rural and regional studies, e.g. hot spots in order to show that rural areas can be regions of development if the priorities for each village can be carefully identified. The following two steps are conducted by the application of the so-called pentagon model and the use of multi-criteria analysis, viz. regime analysis. The data and information deployed in this study are obtained from field surveys conducted in 60 European and 17 Turkish rural areas. The results showed that the challenge to transform rural areas into hot spots is neither impossible nor difficult. On the contrary, rural areas and their inhabitants are ready to achieve such a future, but the policies concerning rural areas need to be restructured.     Recent theories on regional creative capacity often focus on urban regions without taking into account rural regions. In addition, the application of such analyses to rural regions may lead to misrepresentation or misunderstanding of rural creative capacity. Against this background, the aim of the present study is to integrate the existing literature on different components of creative capacity, viz., knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship and networks, in order to build a more comprehensive framework for rural creative capacity and its evaluation. In the light of the perspective from the empirical literature review on the evaluation of creative capacity in rural regions, various empirical measurements seem to misrepresent or underestimate the creative capacity of rural regions. Therefore, there is a clear need to use the locality in relation to its dynamics, i.e. tacit knowledge, cultural heritage and social and physical environment, as the main and basic measurement unit for creative capacity analysis.
