    Racism is a treatment of a race who considers his race as superior and other race as inferior. People who consider their self as superior think that they have special right among the inferior races.12 Years a Slave is a movie that clearly illustrates how racism occurs. This movie which is taken from a true story on the novel that written by Solomon Northup directed by Steve Mc.Queenand filmed on November 23th, 2013 in America. This research is a criticism of literary sociology that views literary works as a reflection of the social conditions of society in real life. This study tries to find: 1.The condition of Solomon Northup’s life as seen in 12 Years a Slave movie by Steve Mc. Queen. 2. The forms racism that experienced by Salomon Northup’s as seen in 12 Years a Slave movie by Steve Mc. Queen. Afterwards this research uses the theory of racism from George M. Fedrickson, how to view someone against others who are no better than him which then leads to actions that are not in accordance with human rights as happened by Solomon Northup. Then this research supported by the sociological approach of NyomanKhutaRatna who tried to see the relationship between the contents of literary works and aspects of society. After analyzing the data, this researcher found out how the condition of Solomon Northup as the main character. The condition when Solomon Northup is a free Negro, the cause so that the Solomon Northup can be trapped inside slavery, how the conditions that live in Solomon Northup become a slave and how he tried to out of slavery. After that how was the condition of Solomon Northup after he got his freedom. Then researchers also found forms of racism experienced by Solomon Northup that are: discrimination, prejudice, and segregation. From these results all researchers can see how the social conditions of the people at that time, specifically how acts of racism are rampant which resulted in a social system that violates human rights rules called slavery.

    This research discusses the representation of Zo’e tribe culture in Isolated: The Zo’e tribe (Full Documentary Film). The purpose of this research is (1) To show the representation of Zo’e tribe cultures represented in the Isolated: The Zo'e Tribe Documentary film (2) To know what the elements of culture that represented in Isolated: The Zo'e Tribe Documentary film. This research uses is mixed theory Representation by Barker and Stuart Hall and cultural approach. This research uses qualitative research and descriptive methods. The source of data in this research are pictures, monologues subtitles, and film scenes, in the process of data collecting, researchers used documentation techniques by Sugiyono. While analyzing data, this research used data analysis by Bodgan. The findings in this research show the representation of Zo’e tribe culture by language through the host of the documentary. This research also has successfully represented Zo’e tribe cultures particularly: as Zo’e tribe symbol,(the symbol of poturu, the symbol of animals, the symbol of pet, the symbol of moon and stars, the symbol of ants), Zo’e tribe language, Zo’e tribe values ( values of Zo’e tribe devotion, values of Zo’e tribe respect to old aged, values of Zo’e tribe manners), Zo’e tribe rituals( Sanctification party, birth celebration), and last is Zo’e tribe artifacts ( kitchen utensils, stick of wood, and women jewelry “khombunjaa”, the arrow and hammock). Moreover, the representation of Zo’e tribe cultures in this film highlights the high culture of the Zo’e tribe itself.

    The main objectives of this study are (1) to find out the various speech acts in Emmanuel Macron's speech, (2) what causes Islamophobia in Emmanuel Macron's speech, (3) what is the impact of Islamophobia on Muslims in France as seen in Emmanuel Macron's speech. The researcher uses the theory of John L. Austin (2018) and the theory of Runnymede Trust (1997) and the last theory of Franz Boas (1991). This study uses qualitative methods and descriptive techniques to analyze the data. The results of the study 1.     This research analyzes the translation method used on song cover by Emma Heesters. The translation method which is used makes the difference between source language and the target language. It is often found the different structure and words in both languages. This research focuses to find the translation method and the types of meaning shift the writer found on song cover by Emma Heesters. The writer uses Peter Newmark (1988) and J.C Catford (1965) theory as the main theories. By those theories, the writer is easier in determining the method of translation and also the types of meaning shift. Considering those theories are suitable to help the writer in analyzing the data. Those consist of the methods of translation which are used to classify the translation method into two of language emphasis method on translation and to identify the types of meaning shift. It is a qualitative research that uses descriptive method. The writer found the reliable and valid data based on the theory. Besides, the writer uses technique of documentation to collect the data then technique of content analysis by Klaus Krippend to analyze the data. The result of this research is the writer found the translation method of song cover by Emma Heesters on the Target Language Emphasis especially on Free Translation method. The writer analyzed the data and found that Free Translation is dominant and frequently happened on Emma Heesters translation. Besides, The writer knew that the types of meaning shift used on song cover by Emma Heesters are 4 Level Shift, 15 Structure Shift, 9 Class Shift, 5 Unit Shift. This research found that the song cover of Emma Heesters has many structure shift in its translation.

    This research analyzes the motivational words of Nick Vujicic’s speech on you-tube video themed against the bullying. The purposes of this research are (1) to find out what are motivational words and their meanings used by Nick Vujicic in his speech. (2) to find out the types elements of communication in delivering the speech. This research used qualitative method and used Pragmatics approach and the theory from Tim David (Kirk warren brown, J. David Creswell, and Richard M. Ryan) (2014) about motivational words and Geoffrey Leech’s theory (2017) about meaning and the second theory was from G. Cook, (1990) about the types elements of communication in delivering the speech. The findings of the research are (1) there are seven types of meaning: conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, social meaning, affective meaning, reflected meaning, collective meaning and thematic meaning. (2) There are seven types elements of communication in delivering the speech, they are the addresser, the addressee, the channel, the message form, the topic, the code and the setting.

    Language style is a lovely language that is used to enhance an effect by presenting and contrasting a specific object or thing with other general objects or things. Language style can be defined as a method of conveying thoughts through language that reflects the writer's soul and personality. The advertisement that was analyzed in this research Estee Lauder. In this research, the writer is interested in analyzing language style in cosmetics advertisement. The Main Objectives of this research are (1) to find out the types of language style in cosmetics advertisement (2) to find out the kinds of meaning of language style in cosmetics advertisement. The researcher used Martin Joos and Geoffrey Leech Theory. This research used qualitative research and use descriptive method to analyze the data. The finding in this research, there are two language style found in cosmetics advertisement (1) language style of casual and language style of intimate. The first is language style of casual there are eleven data. The second is language style of intimate there are five data. The researcher found language style of casual are the statements of advertisement in caption on instagram and the theye are have language usually use on daily. The language style of intimate that statement were the advertisement use the language just only community of cosmetic that language. (2) there are two kinds of meanings language style from seven meaning of language style in cosmetics advertisement. Those are conceptual meaning, and connotative meaning. Conceptual meaning there are three data, connotative meaning there are two data. The researcher found the conceptual meaning of language style that the meaning really from the language with meaning.     In this study, the researcher analyzes a comedy-drama genre film about racism, which is a belief that signifies biological differences in the human race in cultural or individual achievement, that if a certain race is more dominant then it is able to regulate other races. Racism can happen anywhere and can interfere with a person's mental and physical so that victims feel insecure about their race.a worldclass black pianist Don Shirley who on a concert tour must rely on the "green book" therefore, the researcher gives The title of this research is "Racism As Seen In The Green Book Movie By Peter Farrelly".     There are many aspects of literature that describe our daily life and our surrounding such as struggle effort etc. The more struggle the more result that can be enjoyed. On the other hand human aim occurs as subjective; it means it exists inside of the personality as on ideal or wish that can influence the individual’s behavior. The aims of this research is to describe the Chuck fulfill his psychological needs in Cast Away film by Robert Zameckis and factors that influences the main character to fulfill psychological needs in Cast Away film by Robert Zameckis. This research employs descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research was in Cast Away film by Robert Zamec. The data were collected by download the in Cast Away film by Robert Zamec, watching the movie repeatedly, marking the sentences, identifying and classifying the data. Then, the data were analyzed by using Sugiyono’s book. The findings of research show that the writer found that there are two there are two kinds of Psychological Needs in Cast Away film by Robert Zameckis they are food and water. The writer found that there were two ways for Chuck fulfill his Psychological Needs in Cast Away film by Robert Zameckis, such as communicate the needs to others, where Chuck told to Wilson which was only a white volley ball, he shared his feeling to Wilson and self-confidence, where Chuck Chuck told to a volley ball and giving his own spirits and telling that he would go across the ocean.     The objective of this research is to describethe types of presuppositions are found in Avatar movie by James Cameron and describe the functions of presuppositions in Avatar movie by James Cameron.This research employs descriptive qualitative research.The data were collected by download the Avatar movie watching the movie repeatedly, marking the Sentences, identifying and classifying the data.Then, the data were analyzed by using Sugiyono‟s book. The findings of research show that presupposition in the form of existential presupposition, and followed by factive presupposition, lexical presupposition, non-factive presupposition, structural presupposition, and counterfactual presupposition.Every presupposition produced has meaning that want to be sent by speaker to hearer, every presupposition can depends on the condition or the situation when the speaker says a presupposition. When the speaker produces a presupposition, we should consider about the situation that conveys the presupposition itself, so it can decrease the mistakes in receiving meaning.All types of presuppositions also have their respective functions. each type of presupposition has one function, some have two or even more.

    This study discusses the representation of cultural and natural diversity of Indonesia in tourism advertisements, 'Wonderful Indonesia'. The purpose of this study i (1) to describe what cultural elements are represented in the 'Wonderful Indonesia' tourism advertisement. (2) to describe natural diversity of Indonesia that represented in the tourism advertisement 'Wonderful Indonesia'. (3) to find the types of Peirce's semiotic signs such as icons, indexes and symbols in the 'Wonderful Indonesia' tourism advertisement. This study uses representation theory by Hall. This study also uses qualitative research methods. The sources of data in this study are Wonderful Indonesia videos on Youtube, image clips, and monologue subtitles. In the process of collecting data, the researcher used Suharsimi Arikunto's documentation technique, then in analyzing the data, the researcher used descriptive analysis by Donald Ary. The findings in this study are the first is cultural elements such as educational values, tolerance, etc. belief in ancestral spirits, a symbol of prosperity. Customary norms and the Batak language. The second is natural diversity presented in the video is the Holbung hill in North Sumatra, the Mbawana beach in Sumba and the Root Bridge in Tanjung Lesung.The third is Peirce's Semiotic signs such as Icon, Index and Symbol in the video such as Rumah Gadang as an Icon from West Sumatra, and the Index is a place for traditional events to take place, then the symbol is the shape of the roof which is similar to a buffalo horn which symbolizes victory.

    The aims of this research are: (1) to identify the kinds of ambiguity found in Ahmad Tohari‟s Short Stories, and (2) to figure out the causal factors of ambiguity. On this research, the writer applies the theory of ambiguity by Stephen Ullmann. This research is qualitative reseach that conducted by descriptive method. This research uses documents for technique of collecting the data content analysis technique in analyzing the data. The writer found that there were two kinds of ambiguity in Ahmad Tohari‟s Short Stories the are lexical and grammatical ambiguity, and there were two causal factors factors of ambiguity they are polysemy and homonymy, and also the writer interpret the ambiguity word and sentences with lexical and grammatical interpretations.

    This research is motivated because the researcher is very interested in discussing about the change of Bruce's characterization in Finding Nemo movie. Bruce is the first sea creature that Marlin and Dory meet when both of them are looking for Marlin's missing son,Nemo. when they met Bruce for the first time, Bruce suddenly becomes a good shark to both of them and even wants to be friends with Marlin and Dory. So, that makes the researcher interested to analyze about the change of Bruce's characterization. The purpose of this research are (1) To describe the types of the change of characterization which are showed by Bruce in Finding Nemo movie (2) To describe the factors that cause of the change of Bruce's characterization in Finding Nemo movie and (3) To describe the effects of the change of Bruce's characterization for other sea creatures in Finding Nemo movie. The researcher uses three theories to analyze this research. The theory from Sigmund Freud, Elizabeth Hurlock and Paul Costa. The researcher also uses Psychological Approach by Sigmund Freud. This research uses Qualitative research and Descriptive method. The source of data in this research is based on scenes, pictures, dialogues or conversations from the movie scripts of Finding Nemo movie. In the process of data collection, the researcher used Documentation techniques by Sugiyono. while in the process of analyzing data, the researcher used content analysis techniques by Nawawi. The result of analysis in this research shows that the dominant types of the change of characterization which are showed by Bruce are two dominant types, they are: some characters change for the better type and some characters change to develop rapidly type. The dominant factor that cause of the change of Bruce's characterization is superego factor. On the other hand, the dominant effects of the change of Bruce's characterization for other sea creatures is extraversion effect.

In this study, the functions of jargon which occur in Playerunknown’s Battleground Mobile Game were also analyzed. The researcher applied theory of forms of jargon from Kridalaksana and theory of functions of jargon from Steven Brown and Salvatore Attardo. Descriptive qualitative method was applied in this study. Meanwhile the discussion was presented in a descriptive way. The data were in the words and pharases in the Playerunknown’s Battleground Mobile Game. Playerunknown’s Battleground Mobile Game became the source of the data. In process of data collecting, the researcher used documentation technique. In process of data analysing, this research used coding analysis technique. The findings of this study show that there are 45 data which are categorized as jargons. They are categorized as word (14 data), phrase (18 data), and abbrevation (13 data). Phrase becomes the most prominent form of jargon in this study. In terms of function, this study reveals that jargon is not randomly conducted. Yet, it serves some functions which are used to provide speakers of specialized domains with clear an unambiguous terms to refer their activities and provide speakers of subgroup with a means of marking in-group membership and excluding outsiders. The first function covers up 16 data. Then, the second function covers 29 data.

    This study is aimed to investigate the factors that contribute in speaking anxiety that experienced by the fifth semester students and the type of speaking anxiety in order to get the broader understanding about this phenomenon. This research is categorized as descriptive qualitative research. It involved the fifth semester students of English Literature Department 2022-2023 academic year as the participants. The data was collected through the interview. The findings of the research describe four factors that contribute in speaking anxiety and three types of anxiety. There were four factors based on Horwitz and Cope (1986) theory, the first factor is fear of negative evaluation (unconfident and overthinking) which made the student avoid do public speaking in English. Students were afraid because their mentality. The second is test anxiety (fear of performance in front of audience) which made the student avoid and afraid do the public speaking English. The third is communication apprehension (low speaking skill) which commonly happened on lack of vocabulary and unable to arrange the sentence and also stag in their mind. The fourth is new material which commonly happened on lack of understanding of new material. There were three types based on Horwitz (1986) theory, the first type of anxiety was trait anxiety it happened related when students fell unconfident and overthinking. The second type of anxiety was state anxiety. It happened relate on external factor and when someone feels being threatened. The third type was situation-specific anxiety. Due to low speaking skill seems like the students were afraid of being evaluated.

    This research analyzes cultural conflict and how each characters dealing with the cultural conflicts that occurs in a movie entitled "East is East".The problems in this research is that the researcher wants to find out what cultural conflicts occur in an inequality that occurs in a society by using the object of a family in a film. The movie contains elements of cultural conflicts that occurs within the family and in the surrounding society. The aims of this research are (1) to find out what cultural conflicts occur in the movie "East is East" (2) to find out how the characters deal with cultural conflicts in the movie "East is East". Researchers used a qualitative research method in this research to pays attention to the object to be researched and interpreted. In this study, researchers used Sociocultural Approach theory from Lev Vygotsky, Cultural Conflict theory from Thorsten Sellin, and DMIS (Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity) theory from Milton Bennet. The source of the data in this study is a film entitled "East is East" in 1999 by writer Ayub Khan Din and director Damien O'Donnell. From the results of this study, based on the theory of Cultural Conflict by Thorsten Sellin, the researcher found 2 types of cultural conflict that occurred in the film, namely Primary and Secondary Conflict, then based on the cultural conflict, the researcher found out how the characters in the film deal with cultural conflict by using the theory by Milton Bennett's DMIS, namely 4 stages, denial, defense, minimization, and acceptance.

    This thesis analyzes the code switching in English to Indonesia or vice versa as found in Breakout Music Program on Net TV. This study aims to determine the types of language transfer that are used of Boy William in Breakout Music Program on Net TV and what are the reasons for language transfer used of Boy William in Breakout Music Program on Net TV. The writer uses several theories in this writing namely Romaine and Hoffman. This research is descriptive qualitative because data is collected, analyzed and explained in the form of words. The data in this study are the utterances of Boy William as the host that contains language transfer. The results of this study indicate that the first are three types of language switching, where the types of code switching are proposed by Romaine. These types are inter- sentential switching (code switching occurs between sentence boundaries or clauses), intra-sentential switching (substitution of phrases in sentences), and tag switching (transfer of interactional filler codes) and the reasons for the use of code switching is talking about a particular topic, interjection, repetition used for clarification and intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor.

    In this research, the writer analyzed the politeness strategies that used by An-Nur Boarding School‟s students. The aims of this research: (1) To find out the kinds of politeness strategies used by students in dily conversation (2) To know the kinds of politeness strategies used by students to the teacher in daily conversation (3) To find out the factor influence the use of politeness strategies by students. The writer uses the theory about politeness strategies. Politeness: Some Universals in Language Usage from Brown. P and S.C Levinson to support the writing of this thesis. This research uses the qualitative method to analyze the data and explain the politeness strategies used in daily conversation. The sources data of this research is the students of An-Nur Boarding School. The data of the research are the words and utterances in daily conversation, which contains polite language by the students. The result of this research are: (1) The writer found there are they are 16 data found as bald on record strategy, 9 data as positive politeness strategy, 4 data as negative politeness strategies and 4 found as the off record strategy in the students daily conversation (2) They are 3 data found as bald on record strategy, 3 data as positive politeness strategies, 4 data found as the negative politeness strategies and 3 data from off record in the student conversation among the teacher (3) The factor that influence to students in using the strategies are factor about the social distance and the absolute ranking.

    The objective of this research is to describe the kinds of speech disorder cause of goldenhar syndrome. The data were taken from the video in the five videos of Austin’s YouTube channel. The data above are the reasons why the research does investigation about the kinds of speech disorder cause of goldenhar syndrome. The present study used descriptive qualitative method by Jalaluddin Rahmat and phonology theory by J.W.L Bernard. The speech disorder that has been stated is in speech point of view, acquiring, producing, and processing of specch sound information. The findings of research shows there are 3 kinds of speech disorder have of Austin’s. They are: phonetics 3 data, phoneme system 3 data and phonological disorder 3 data. Then the informations for speech production in the speech organs will be interrupted as well. As the result, someone who has goldenhar syndrome will get any disturbance in ability of speech production. As for the kinds of Speech disorder problem of Austin, the researcher can classify there are three kinds of Austin’s speech disorder problem that caused by Goldenhar Syndrome, they are phonetics, phoneme system and phonological disorder. From 14 videos, the writer find 3 phonetics, 3 phonology disorder, 3 phoneme system.

    The objective of this research is to describe the types of expressive speech acts the use of expressive speech act, the effects of expressive speech in Coco’s Movie by Darla K. Anderson.There are several expressive speech act utterance by the characters in the Coco’s movie. Because in Coco’ movie Miguel as main character wants to be a good musician like his grandfather, but his family hate the music itself. There are also many struggles for Miguel for get his dream and support from his family. This research employs descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is Coco’s movie by Darla K. Anderson. The data of this research were all utterances spoken by all of characters in Coco’s movie containing expressive speech acts. The data are classified from kinds of expressive speech acts by Austin’s theory. The use of expressive speech acts by using Yule’s theory. Then, the effect of expressive speech act were categorized by using Herbert. The findings of research show that there are six types of expressive speech acts, they are; expressive for thank 2 data, expressive for apologize 4 data, expressive for congratulation 2 data, expressive for greeting 2 data, expressive for wishes 2 data, and expressive for attitudes 2 data. Expressive for apologize was mostly dominant used by all characters. The use of expressive speech acts consist of direct and indirect, there were 5 data in direct and 3 data in indirect and direct was mostly dominant used by all characters. There were three effects of expressive speech acts, they were for getting knowledge 3 data, giving command 2 data, asking for information 2 data and the dominant effect of expressive speech is for getting knowledge in Coco’s movie.

    This research analyzes one of Joanne Kate Rowling’s works entitled Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. This novel tells about the adventures of a wizard named Harry Potter in searching of horcruxes to defeat the evil wizard named Voldemort, with the helping of his friends. This research aims at observing the world view of the novel and the coherence between the world view that presented in the novel with the life of the author as well as the social life where the author writes her literary work. Therefore, the research applies Lucien Goldmann’s theory on genetic structuralism. This research employs dialectic qualitative research. The data from this research are all from the novel and other resources that relate to the formulation of the problem. The data are analyzed from the structure of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, binary opposition of elements, and categorization of character using genetic structuralism theory by Lucien Goldman. The result of this research shows that the world view of this novel is atheism. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows has binary opposition, those are good based value and general bad-based value. There are characters representing God, World, and Human. The main character, Harry Potter represented the god, Voldemort represented world, Cissy Malfoy and Severus Snape represented Human. This world view has no correlation with the religious life of the author of the novel Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows in which the author herself never mentioned the religion that she professed, but she still believes in the existence of god, but this world view has correlation with the life of European society at the time of writing the novel that the majority of whom are atheists. In the other word the author indirectly gets influence from her social environment when writing her work.

This research uses descriptive qualitative research and the object of this research is Album Invasion of Privacy. The data from this study are all taboo words that the writer found in the Album Invasion of Privacy. The data is classified from taboo words according to Battistella theory, taboo word functions using Wardhaugh's theory, and taboo meanings categorized using Geoffrey's theory. Furthermore, the results showed that there are four types of taboo words, consisting of; obscenity, epithets, vulgarity, profanity and also the writer found that vulgarity data is more dominantly used in song lyrics in the Album Invasion of Privacy. Furthermore, the function of the taboo words consists of drawing attention to oneself, show contempt, to be provocative, to mock authority and the writer found that to contempt is more dominantly used in song lyrics in the Album Invasion of Privacy. Finally, there are two taboo meanings found, conceptual, connotative and conceptual data which is more dominantly used in Album Invasion of Privacy.

    This film discusses about Psychopath Behaviour in The Orphan Film by Jaume Collet Serra. Pyschopaths are social predators who lure, manipulate, and shattered hopes. This research aims to determaine the behaviour, types and the effects of psychopath in everyday life. The research data are taken from The Orphan film and the script. The data are clarified by using psychopathy theory. The writer uses two theories to answer the formulation of the problem, the first is Stefan’s H. verstappen theory, the second is Robert’s Hare theory. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. Research findings show that first, there are four common types of psychopath; the victim, the artists, malevolent psychopath, professional psychopath, and malevolent is mostly dominant. The second, there are six psychopath behaviour; lack empathy, lack of remorse, irresponsibillity, implusive behaviour, complusive lying, and manipulative, and manipulative is mostly dominant. The last, the effects of main character psychopath behaviour; no regret after killing and uncontrolled emotion.
