Patrick Hanks und James Pustejovsky (2005) haben in einem, im Zusammenhang mit der Ausarbeitung des Online-Wörterbuchs Pattern Dictionary of English Verbs stehenden Artikel, völlig treffend angemerkt, dass "words in isolation, [...], do not have specific meanings; rather they have a multifaceted potential to contribute to the meaning of an utterance". Das semantische Potential eines Wortes manifestiert sich erst innerhalb verschiedener Kontexte. Die Untersuchung der durch monosemierende Wirkung kennzeichnenden kontextuellen Einbettung eines Wortes führt somit zu dessen Identifikation als einer Wortschatzeinheit und hiermit auch zur Ermittlung anderer an dieser Identifikation im weiteren Sinne beteiligten Einheiten... The study based on the main idea of term collocation, that the words in isolation have meaning only potential and as such they can be connected with other words, in which way its potential meaning will be specified and its ambiguity deliminated as well. Against this background, the aim of the research was to analyse the spectrum of possible uses offers of the verbs mieten (sich) and vermieten, in other words, which combinatoric potential they have, and this one in view of the parameter frequency. To analyse those verbs was very interesting, because they as converses verbs express the same facts, but from contrary perspective. Also, the results of the analyses give an answer on the question, in which way this semantic relationship will be reflected in the combinatoric of the verbs, on the one hand formal and on the other hand semantically. Not in the last place it is important to emphasize, that the researching of the words combinatorik doesn't have to be only interesting, it can play an important role too, namely in case of the completing of the actual lexicographically processing of the words. In the summary will be proposed, in which way the monolingual dictionary (at this place Duden online, DWDS) could be completed.
