We are delighted to announce a funded PhD scholarship as part of the project ’Sacred Secular', led by Sarah Bowden (King's College London) and Susanne Friede (RU Bochum), and funded by the Thyssen Foundation. The scholarship will begin at the start of the academic year 2023/24; it will cover fees at international or home rate, plus stipend, for two years in the first instance (the third year is subject to project review in year one). The student will be expected to develop a project related in some way to things and/or material objects, religious and secular, and must at least partly treat German material. They will be supervised by Sarah Bowden, although co-supervision from another medievalist at King’s (depending on availability) will be possible.

You will be able to apply for the Sacred Secular Studentship in your application in King’s Apply to the German MPhil/PhD at KCL. You will need to have applied for both the studentship and the MPhil/PhD by 31 March 2023 (23:59 GMT)
