    Abstract: Der Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit autobiographischen Thematisierungen von Lebensgeschichten, insbesondere mit der Bedeutung der zentralen Strukturelemente für die verschiedenen Untersuchungsphasen der Biographieanalyse. Die kognitiven Figuren narrativer Interviews werden in vier Erscheinungen des Erzählvorgangs geordnet: Segmentierung des Erinnerungs- und Darstellungsstroms in Erzähleinheiten, hierarchisierende Einordnung der Erzählgegenstände in dominante und rezessive Erzähllinien, Ankündigung und Ergebnissicherung der allgemeinen Erfahrungsqualität des im suprasegmentalen, segmentalen oder subsegmentalen Zusammenhang dargestellten, Beurteilung der Erzählgehalte für die Gesamtgestalt der Lebensgeschichte und die Veränderung des Selbst des Biographieträgers. Zusammenfassend wird festgehalten, daß die kognitiven Figuren des Stegreiferzählens zusammen mit den narrativen Zugzwängen die Organisationsprinzipien der lebensgeschichtlichen Erfahrungsrekapitulation sind.     Abstract: Der Artikel ist frei verfügbar; anstelle eines Abstract wird hier zunächst der Anfang wiedergegeben:

    Der cellospielende Hausvater Miller gilt in der Forschung durchweg als „Bürger“. Wie immer geisteswissenschaftliche und sozialgeschichtliche Methoden der Literaturwissenschaft ihren Streit mit Vehemenz an Schillers Jugenddrama ausgetragen haben: daß Miller „Bürger“ sei, steht beiden vorab fest. In diesem Punkt sind sich auch heute noch z.B. Helmut Koopmann und Andreas Huyssen [1] einig – wobei Koopmann einem inzwischen topisch gewordenen geisteswissenschaftlichen Argumentationsschema folgt: der Ständegegensatz in Kabale und Liebe wird am Bürger Miller festgemacht und damit, was das Stück angeht, zur Nebensache erklärt.

    Gelegentlich nahm die Forschung leichte Schattierungen vor, wurden kleinbürgerliche Züge an Miller betont; [2] an der pauschalen Zuordnung zum Bürgertum änderte sich nichts. Nicht Millers Stand, nur dessen Bedeutung für die Interpretation schien bisher des Nachdenkens wert. Die auffallend genauen Angaben, die Schiller zur Berufsbezeichnung Millers macht, hat bisher niemand betrachtet.[3]

    Abstract: Der Artikel ist frei verfügbar; anstelle eines Abstract wird hier zunächst der Anfang wiedergegeben:

    Der Text, auf den ich mich in diesem Vortrag beziehe, enthält die umfangreichste und gewichtigste der zahlreichen Landschaftsdarstellungen in Goethes ‚Die Leiden des jungen Werthers‘. Sie steht an zentraler Stelle des Romans. Werther spricht in diesem Brief von zwei verschiedenen Landschaften, einer vergangenen glückseligen und einer gegenwärtigen chaotischen. Zwischen glücklicher Vergangenheit und Angst erregender Gegenwart liegt der scheinbare Wendepunkt des Romans: die Ankunft von Albert, Lottes Bräutigam, die Werther seinem Freund am 30. Juli gemeldet hatte. Von da an ist ihm die Vergeblichkeit seiner Liebe endgültig klar. Die Briefe zwischen dem 30. Juli und dem 18. August spielen dann auch bereits auf das Ende des Romans an: Hinweise auf die Pistolen, langes Gespräch über die Berechtigung des Selbstmords, Werthers versteckte Selbstinterpretation als einer, der gezeichnet ist von der „Krankheit zum Tode“ (12. August). Die Briefe nach dem 18. August handeln dann von Verzweiflung, Angstträumen, trostloser Zukunft und dem Ende „all dieses Elends“ im „Grab“ (30. Aug.). Der Wechsel zwischen dem glücklichen, erinnerten „Damals“ und dem hoffnungslosen „Jetzt“ und „in Zukunft“ ist der Kulminationspunkt in Werthers psychischer Entwicklung. Die beiden Landschaftsbilder in dem Brief dienen offenbar dazu, diesen Kulminationspunkt im überhöhenden Medium der Landschaftsschilderung noch einmal darzustellen. Dies ist die konventionelle Interpretation dieses Briefes. Ich will in meinem Vortrag diese These überprüfen und als ungenügend zeigen. Ich werde dazu das erste Landschaftsbild (im Text unten Zeile 6-32) aus dem Brief herauslösen und erst später den ganzen Brief in die Untersuchung mit einbeziehen

In these short descriptive poems Statius elaborates features taken from various genres into an original whole, in which description and eulogy play important roles. The main themes of the poems of his second book are consolation after bereavement and the contrast between nature and culture. The present work contains a general introduction, a text of Silvae II, a bibliography, and an index, together with a verse-by-verse commentary on the poems of this second book. This is the first commentary on a book of the Silvae since Vollmer's commentary on the whole of the Silvae of 1898. Emphasis is here placed on interpretation and moreover chiefly on the literary and stylistic aspects of the poems, which, compared with the epic poetry of Statius and his contemporaries, have hitherto received relatively little attention

The purpose of this book is to investigate what it was Euripides intended to convey to the theatre-going public of his day when he wrote his most exciting and most gruesome play, the Bacchae . The meanings which are to be attached to the action of a play are woven by an audience, both during and after the performance, into a single dramatic experience, labelled in this book as 'audience response'. After some introductory chapters dealing with the history of the interpretation of the Bacchae and with the theory of audience response, the main part of the book is devoted to a detailed analysis of the action of the play (chapters 4 and 5), and to a study of Dionysus in his various apects in Athenian life and in his appearances in earlier literature and on the tragic stage. The discussion of the choruses concentrates on the choruses' repeated utterances about cleverness and wisdom, which form the core of the Dionysian propaganda of the play. The most immediate results of this new interpretation of the Bacchae are that the widely-accepted view of Pentheus as a dark puritan, a man possessed by the Dionysian qualities of his divine opponent, proves to be untenable, and that that which in the past has been rightly called the overriding theme of the play - the god's epiphany - also contains the poet's most serious and ironical discussion of divinity and of man's treatment of it. The problems of the Greek text are given full discussion, mainly in the nots and appendices. In many cases new solutions are proposed; some new problems are however added

    n 1975 a group of Leningrad poets sought official permission to hold a memorial meeting commemorating the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of Nikolaj Stepanovič Gumilev (1886 -1921) the following year, as well as issuing a collection of their poetry. On April 16. 1976 the poet Oleg Oxapkin and the historian Vladimir Poreš initiated the first memorial meeting devoted to the founder of Acmeism. Since that time there have been three additional "unofficial conferences" held (1978, 1979 and 1980). At these yearly private meetings, literary historians, poets and poetry lovers converge and pay homage to Gumilev. The section containing material relating to Gumilev in this volume is significant and illuminating.
