    In this volume of studies, Animal: Moments of Affect, Moments of Pain, eight ethnologists apply a cultural perspective to people’s varied and complex relationships with other species. The contributions focus on wild animals, that is, those that are rarely found in the authors’ immediate vicinity. Based on ongoing research, the articles discuss themes such as conflicts and joys in the birdwatching world, charismatic animals in various exhibition contexts, children’s fears, morbid animal jokes and the ritual transformation of living animals into edible meat. The texts range from the tender, comical and cute to death and existential vulnerability. The book begins with the editors presenting an overview of how animals have been produced, noticed and studied in a mostly Nordic humanistic research context. Then the articles follow. Based on the idea of affective logic, Elin Lundquist follows the on-site monitoring of the bird hunting that takes place annually in Malta. Mattias Frihammar uses observations at a wilderness gallery with taxidermied animals to reflect on local identity. Lars Kaijser examines the ambivalent and conflicted portrayal of sharks in public aquariums. Sverker Hyltén-Cavallius writes about the death of extinct animals and how this is displayed in natural history museums. Susanne Nylund Skog examines birdwatchers’ stories as an expression of collecting and as a way of manifesting status. With lobster cartoons as a starting point, Simon Ekström shows how these depict both animal rights issues and human anxiety. Helena Hörnfeldt investigates animal fear and the diffuse boundary between humans and animals. Proceeding from different depictions of slaughter and the preparation of meat, Michelle Zethson problematizes how some animals are made edible. The volume ends with an epilogue by the editors commenting on the findings.

    All chapters in this edited volume address a concrete situation where this concept is used. The authors demonstrate how it can be applied in interpretations of images, buildings and places from different historical periods, and how it affects the ability to create meaning and knowledge. The interpretative action thus entails different forms of contextualisation.

    Postmodernism. Termen kom i svang i Sverige någon gång på 1980-talet, då kontinentala filosofiska och estetiska strömningar plötsligt och oförutsett sköljde in över landet och fick bäring på den samtida debatten. Men hur relevant är egentligen begreppet för perioden som helhet? I sin avhandling Är det detta som kallas postmodernism? utforskar Victor Malm det märkliga ordet som tycks betyda olika saker varje gång det används. Samtidigt är boken en studie av två svenska poeter som vid flera tillfällen har kallats för just postmodernister - Katarina Frostenson och Stig Larsson - en karakterisering som, menar författaren, delvis leder fel. Det är inte litteraturen i sig som är postmodern, utan snarare de stora sociokulturella förändringar som litteraturen genomgick under andra hälften av 1900-talet. Som ett alternativ till termen föreslår Malm den amerikanske litteraturvetaren Fredric Jamesons begrepp 'postmodernitet', ett ord som betonar rörelser i tiden hellre än estetiska ideal. Genom läsningar av Frostenson och Larsson avhandlar Malm också frågor om modernismen som ideologi, poesins plats och funktion i en postmodern verklighet, dåliga dikter, mimologi, bildstormande, litteraturens slut, kitsch - och vad postmodernism är eller egentligen borde vara

    Sedan urminnes tider har djuren varit ett självklart inslag i barnkulturen och nästan lika länge har naturen stått som symbol för den goda barndomen. Men på senare år har någonting hänt. Visst förknippas djur och natur fortfarande med glädje, men också med förödelse i spåren av människans framfart ? inte minst inom samtida barnkultur. Om detta och mycket mer handlade Centrum för barnkulturforsknings symposium 2019: Djur, natur och sopretur ? perspektiv på barnkulturen i antropocen. I denna skrift erbjuds sju av symposiets föreläsningar. Vi får följa hur Aisopos klassiska fabel om myran och syrsan har förändrats genom historien, ta del av ALMA-pristagaren Meg Roso s betraktelse över djurgestalternas betydelse för barnlitteraturen och läsa om skogens stora infl ytande på det svenska barndomsidealet. Dessutom ges ett flertal exempel på hur barn själva tecknat natur i olika sammanhang och vid olika tidpunkter samt ta del av Teater Tres refl ektioner över att sceniskt gestalta naturens kretslopp för barn. I det avslutande kapitlet diskuteras lekplatser och deras utformning: vilken lek erbjuder olika typer av lekplatser, har säkerhetstänkandet gått för långt ? och i sådana fall till vilket pris?

    Postmodernism. Termen kom i svang i Sverige någon gång på 1980-talet, då kontinentala filosofiska och estetiska strömningar plötsligt och oförutsett sköljde in över landet och fick bäring på den samtida debatten. Men hur relevant är egentligen begreppet för perioden som helhet? I sin avhandling Är det detta som kallas postmodernism? utforskar Victor Malm det märkliga ordet som tycks betyda olika saker varje gång det används. Samtidigt är boken en studie av två svenska poeter som vid flera tillfällen har kallats för just postmodernister - Katarina Frostenson och Stig Larsson - en karakterisering som, menar författaren, delvis leder fel. Det är inte litteraturen i sig som är postmodern, utan snarare de stora sociokulturella förändringar som litteraturen genomgick under andra hälften av 1900-talet. Som ett alternativ till termen föreslår Malm den amerikanske litteraturvetaren Fredric Jamesons begrepp 'postmodernitet', ett ord som betonar rörelser i tiden hellre än estetiska ideal. Genom läsningar av Frostenson och Larsson avhandlar Malm också frågor om modernismen som ideologi, poesins plats och funktion i en postmodern verklighet, dåliga dikter, mimologi, bildstormande, litteraturens slut, kitsch - och vad postmodernism är eller egentligen borde vara

Det blir början på en dramatisk resa bakåt i tiden. Ingers far var en sovjetisk soldat som under andra världskriget flydde från tysk fångenskap i Norge och sökte skydd i Sverige. Han var inte ensam – flera tusen unga sovjetiska män flydde undan tyskarna och hamnade här. Journalisten och Rysslandskännaren Elisabeth Hedborg har skrivit en engagerande journalistisk undersökning om Inger, hennes far och de sovjetiska flyktingarnas öden under vistelsen i Sverige. De tvingades så småningom tillbaka hem, och till Stalintidens straffläger. "Min far var rysk soldat" kastar nytt ljus över en undanskymd del av svensk historia.
